You did really well for no medical background & first time around! TIPS- get everything ready before cleaning the site. Get the oil in the syringe and when u do, leave the vial on the table and put the needle down into it. If u hold it up u may stick your hand. Also try warming the vial itself in between your hands..less chance of sticking yourself. Then when ur ready to inject cleanse the site! Your shirt fell back on the area and that's cross contamination! Don't fan the area to dry..whatever

@soulburn2k5 LOL! No it didnt hurt at all! I was shocked that I didnt feel it!! lol.. It starts to hurt after the first few weeks only because you have bruises and tough spots.. but its totally manageable and worth it! :) Always remember to massage the injection site after injecting in order to really distribute the oil so it doesnt build up! Good luck!! :)

@Ueberlegsdir2mal It was the protocol for the IVF treatment. Depending on what you are using it for.. the injection site changes. I got much faster as I went.. this was my 1st ever! haha! By the 3rd shot.. it was a matter of seconds! :P

I got nervous by watching you doing injections and all these preparations. Next time you put needle's cap on make sure you use "fishing technique", so you don't poke urself. The amount of air you draw should be equal to the amount of medication you administrate, you don't want explode the bottle.

you should have changed the needle after pushing against the metal cap, a sharp needle is important and much less painfull. You should also holdit stable after penetration and and checking for blood. If not you could hit a blood vessel.

she had no need to disinfect the rubber aspect of the vial b/c it was being opened for the first time, and was sterile. Every time after this she should be sure to disinfect the rubber though. And air causing embolism is actually an urban legend, it would take a large air bubble, (nearly a whole syringe) to cause death.

When you removed plastic part off the vial, you forgot to disinfect the lid. That rubber part is usually not sterile or clean. Then you forgot to push out one drop of medicine from your syringe to make sure there is no air left. The air that is left, if it gets into your vessel, can cause embolism and death.

Before inserting the needle, need to stretch the skin, to make sure needle will reach the muscle, instead of sitting in the fat tissue.

Actually this is an intramuscular shot and the air is no big deal especially since when you put the needle in your supposed to aspirate which means pulling back on the syringe and if bubbles come in your good to go but if blood goes in you gotta shoot it elsewhere. If the oil went into your blood it can also cause problems.

Well done!!!!!!!!!! I'm about to do my first PIO in over 9 years! I did them when I did IVF for my twins, but my current RE has been trying all different types of progesterone support to no avail. You did an amazing job. I just hope I remember how to do this. Congratulations!

OMGoodness!!!!!!!!! I could not do that! When I went to basic training we where given a penecilin (dnt knw if im spelling it right) To warm it up in our hands. I freaked out. They gave me the shot and it hurt real bad, it was very thick also. Are you still giving yourself the shots?

Make sure you do not hit the nerves with the needle. If you are a thin person, have very little of muscle, may be shorter needle should be used. You have to inject every time in a different spot, about 1 inch away from the previous, but inside that quadrant, though. TEll your nurse or a doctor about strange symptoms, like numbnesss.

Because its a daily shot that you can give yourself, and I take it to sustain the surrogacy pregnancy! My body didnt naturally get pregnant so the medication helps to prepare my uteran lining. Hope that explains it a bit!
