@texasproof I don't know, I've actually been thinking about it lately, and I dunno I feel like they are their own beast... or to quote one of the top comments "Melo-death is like the most beautiful woman you have ever seen beating that crap out of you, and you like it." Every melo-death band is like a beautiful woman, and though they may have similar characteristics they are all different haha so lame.

This is the easiest, catchiest and most well-structured melodic death song I've heard yet. Anyone know of other songs that can be compared to this song? I'm talking songs that have infectious melodeath riffs with harmonized guitar melodic choruses... don't just throw random melodeath bands at me. I know many of them but can't think of one who has a song so catchy and epic as this one.

Many people that were more into old school death metal bands said that melodic death metal was an insult.I enjoy old school death metal and also melodic variants.It's not like if the lyrics aren't all about murder and maiming etc. and the music isn't downtuned I won't like it.As long as it's decent music I'm cool with that.

never in my life have i seen the melodic death metal tag get used as an insult and i have been on countless melodic death metal videos and countless metal videos. metalcore is used as an insult, i don't believe melodic death metal is? where you have seen melodic death metal used as an insult?

@ThisPerfectKaos Different yes.Most of the Swedish death metal bands have changed for better or worse.I didn't like the "Projector" album that much but I think that overall Dark Tranquility haven't strayed too much from their sound.Anyways that was in the early 90s now it's 2011.

Awesome metal song, also great production value, mixing is superb, the guitars really have a lot of oomph in the low end, and not anything sticking out too much in the 4-6 KHz region. Plus the guitars are absolutely superb tone-wise.
