Why would I lookup a case from over 20 years ago. I can find plenty of recent cases where jury's have overcompensated plaintiffs. I can also find where jury's have not properly compensated the plaintiffs.

FRIOVOLOUS lawsuits will get sorted out by the justice system.

Jeb Bush gave Florida citizens "tort reform" and now the max award is $250K...no matter what...except if you do not have a marriage partner and have no children then you can not sue for even one dollar. Our insurance rates did not go down at all. The Federal Govt does not pay jury awards for doctors who amputate the wrong leg as happened here in Florida last year. ...his malpractice insurance gave the poor sucker $250k.

Tax payers don't pick up the bill in taxes. You do, I do everyone with insurance does.
The costs to hospitals for uncompenstated care are passed on in higher charges to insurance companies who then pass those higher charges on to you. That is a fact. The tax payer does not pay unless that person is on medicaid or medicare. Medicaid is for those who are below the poverty level and medicare is for our seniors.

the poor get free med inc. the rich can afford it, and govt workers get a hellofadeal. only the middle class has the issue with med inc. it seems though its not the availability but rather the cost. congress should just regulate the amount of premiums that can be collected from inc company's, it would make more sense to also regulate the amount of money each doctor can receive for his/her service. its not the availability of service but the cost. curve the cost, solve the problem.
