An analogy would be, spitting on someone's face, then calling it culture and social diversity. Sure, there's free will and it's a beautiful thing as long as you don't abuse it, because you're lyrics talks about 'living the truth'.
All media medium are used to gain social acceptance and publicity, but what kind of acceptance are you asking for? If your group is not seeking acceptance and attention, why broadcast it? Why not just do it amongst yourselves?
If you had a child, a niece or a nephew, would you let them listen to this? Or would you have to wait till theyre older? If theres no shame, theres nothing to hide it right?
A lot of people, especially teenagers and young adults look up to groups like you, many are confused souls who are trying to find themselves, theyd buy into anything thats 'out there', is this what you want them to look up onto?
If bottom line is different for everyone, you can not claim 'living the TRUTH', because there can only always be ONE TRUTH. Another analogy would be, when you're angry, you cannot be feeling peace at the same time, because theres only ONE TRUTH at any given time.
The swearing is the least of it, the issue is, what you are trying to portray? I agree that this is a diverse world, therefore I have no right to rule out any form of expression, but what is respect and 'living the truth'?
When morals are bent for the sake of free will, a lot of confusion and choas occurs. People get hurt emotionally in the process because there's no TRUTH.
The key feature to this song is that 24herbs are not forcing their values onto their fans, but instead, they give their listeners a general idea of respect. With this general idea, people define their own idea of respect.
It is true that some people can be confused from these songs, but it is also true that people get confused from reading books, watching tv or even playing with a ball. Does it mean that we should forbid people to read a book, watch tv or playing with a ball?
Fortunately etiquette & general courtesy still exist today and believe it or not, even amongst 24Herbs. Of all genres of music, hip hop music is probably the closes reflection of street culture. The fact is, some of their peers talk like that all the time and surprisingly, a lot of the women also talk the same way. This song is very tame compared to some of the language they use. Many of these peers are born and breed Hong Kong residents and swearing is used to highlight and enhance a sentence.
The fact is colorful language is part of almost every language. Broadcasting music is certainly a way of gaining social acceptance especially amongst peers and if your peers talk the same way, would it not be reasonable to reflect this in the music. The truth is they live what they preach and this is very much the truth for most of 24Herbs.
The beauty of internet is free choice, this song is only available online and on 24Herbs CD both mediums are completely at the mercy of the user or consumer. It is not being force down anyone throat. Don't like it, then turn it off. This music is not made for children. 24Herbs don't do concerts for minors and there is a warning on the CDs.
I am not sure I understand your point about the truth. The lyric "living the truth" is merely a line of lyric which is truthful to the writer. If you find that offensive, you better not listen to any hip hop music. Regarding what the group is trying to portray ? Nothing, accept for what is truthful to them. What is truthful to them may not be truthful to you.
For instance, is religion the truth ? Is the axis of evil the truth ? Is CNN, one of the largest media outlets in this world, do they tell the truth ?? Is the bible the truth ? To any one point, there is only one truth but depending on your point of view, your truth can vary. Hence the point, all this nonsense if a complete waste of time and offensive to you but its the truth to the group and their peers.
The Quran is the truth to around 25% of the world population and the Bible is the truth to around 25-30% depends what you read. So what is the truth ? Who is correct ?

A lot of people have this error where if they can't logically reason with the philosophy of a religion, they give it up. 50 years ago, men only used obscene language amongst themselves, if however, their conversation was accidentally overheard by a woman, he had to apologize to her because it was considered an insult. Why? Because it is called etiquette and general courtesy.
An analogy would be, spitting on someone's face, then calling it culture and social diversity. Sure, there's free will and it's a beautiful thing as long as you don't abuse it, because you're lyrics talks about 'living the truth'.

All media medium are used to gain social acceptance and publicity, but what kind of acceptance are you asking for? If your group is not seeking acceptance and attention, why broadcast it? Why not just do it amongst yourselves?
If you had a child, a niece or a nephew, would you let them listen to this? Or would you have to wait till theyre older? If theres no shame, theres nothing to hide it right?

A lot of people, especially teenagers and young adults look up to groups like you, many are confused souls who are trying to find themselves, theyd buy into anything thats 'out there', is this what you want them to look up onto?
If bottom line is different for everyone, you can not claim 'living the TRUTH', because there can only always be ONE TRUTH. Another analogy would be, when you're angry, you cannot be feeling peace at the same time, because theres only ONE TRUTH at any given time.

The swearing is the least of it, the issue is, what you are trying to portray? I agree that this is a diverse world, therefore I have no right to rule out any form of expression, but what is respect and 'living the truth'?
When morals are bent for the sake of free will, a lot of confusion and choas occurs. People get hurt emotionally in the process because there's no TRUTH.

The key feature to this song is that 24herbs are not forcing their values onto their fans, but instead, they give their listeners a general idea of respect. With this general idea, people define their own idea of respect.
It is true that some people can be confused from these songs, but it is also true that people get confused from reading books, watching tv or even playing with a ball. Does it mean that we should forbid people to read a book, watch tv or playing with a ball?

Fortunately etiquette & general courtesy still exist today and believe it or not, even amongst 24Herbs. Of all genres of music, hip hop music is probably the closes reflection of street culture. The fact is, some of their peers talk like that all the time and surprisingly, a lot of the women also talk the same way. This song is very tame compared to some of the language they use. Many of these peers are born and breed Hong Kong residents and swearing is used to highlight and enhance a sentence.

The fact is colorful language is part of almost every language. Broadcasting music is certainly a way of gaining social acceptance especially amongst peers and if your peers talk the same way, would it not be reasonable to reflect this in the music. The truth is they live what they preach and this is very much the truth for most of 24Herbs.

The beauty of internet is free choice, this song is only available online and on 24Herbs CD both mediums are completely at the mercy of the user or consumer. It is not being force down anyone throat. Don't like it, then turn it off. This music is not made for children. 24Herbs don't do concerts for minors and there is a warning on the CDs.

I am not sure I understand your point about the truth. The lyric "living the truth" is merely a line of lyric which is truthful to the writer. If you find that offensive, you better not listen to any hip hop music. Regarding what the group is trying to portray ? Nothing, accept for what is truthful to them. What is truthful to them may not be truthful to you.

For instance, is religion the truth ? Is the axis of evil the truth ? Is CNN, one of the largest media outlets in this world, do they tell the truth ?? Is the bible the truth ? To any one point, there is only one truth but depending on your point of view, your truth can vary. This is exactly my point, and you're absolutely right, which is why is so important to seek truth for oneself. What is religion? Religion not just philosophy, it has to do with spirituality. A lot of people have this error where if they can't logically reason with the philosophy of a religion, they give it up. But religion is spirituality, hence you cannot fully understand it until you've experienced it, and there's no point debating religion, like you said, it is different for everyone.

Profanity is just a medium. Just because someone uses profanities in their conversations, it doesn't imply that they are trying to insult another person. However, in most cases these days, people insult one another without the use of profanity.
More so, they are not calling anyone "pok kai" here or trying to insult anyone. The idea of "respect tou pok kai" implies that respect until pok kai. Is it such a big deal to use "pok kai"?

Tks for your comment. The song is not asking for respect, its just talking about respect. Regarding smoking up regularly, not sure where you got that idea from because some don't even smoke or drink. The group is not here to set moral standards nor is it here to teach children. Just doing its own brand of music. And music is a reflection of society but the beauty of a society is that there are different cultures which appeals to different people. This is just a reflection of one culture.

being better or worse is not the point, and i respect everyone who does their own thing. hk music scene is so small. i just don't respect pop artist that have been manufactured. at least 24herbs do their own thing. i have meet them and talked to them. they never claim to be hip hop. they just like hip hop and decided to do it. they are not all rich, conroy might be but phat and kit lived in housing estates, not sure about conroy but they others all work for a living.
