maybe then you should check the version of george dalaras ... sang from the heart..not as a classical singer..but this version is really nice..but as not as good as the one by Dalaras
when i was a boy, my father sang this heavenly piece in his local village amateur choir. i sit behind my computer now and humbly allow the tears to run down my cheek, om my denim pants. sublime.
The original was recorded in 1964 by Los Fronterizos, one of the greatest Argentinean folkloric groups, and that was with no doubts the best version of La Misa Criolla, because nobody like them has ever been able to capture the authentic popular spirit of this music, the true mining of the word “criolla”. Besides, of course, the fact that it was the result of the musical direction and harpsichord performance from Ariel Ramirez
magnifique.Dans une oeuvre peu connue, jose carreras nous montre ,dans ce registre toute la finesse et le talent de sa voix exceptionnelle.Vraiment,en écoutant cet air, j'ai des émotions extarordinaires :on touche au divin .merci
@EleonoraGrant Forbidden for decades? What are you talking about? It was wrote in Argentina for spanish speakers, after the text of written in castellano (spanish), after Catholic Church change celebrating mass in latin to celebrate it in the language of the place where celebrated. I dont understand where is the "forbidden" part.
II agree with MrLuiscastellanos. This is sung with such emotion and feeling; techinically without equal. His voice in the Misa Criolla is as close to heaven as we will hear. And thank you Ariel Ramirez.
This rendition of "Kyrie" in "Misa Criolla", as delivered by José Carreras in 1987, is the best one in my view. Nobody has sung it with such sensitivity, so poignantly...
I am so moved by this piece...I listen to it over and over but have no idea what he is saying. I am searching for a translation.

@Soulrelocation He sings "Lord, have mercy on us. Christ, have mercy on us. Lord, have mercy on us" (3 times each phrase)
