It is the same tuning Don used for Berkley Springs, so I don't doubt it was an influence. Open F is a great tuning for waltz for some reason. Don didn't write Berkley Springs, btw. David Essig wrote back in the 80s for his mother, and actually recorded it in DADGAD, I believe.

Why? It's a 30 year old Fylde Falstaff that I just bought two weeks ago. Brazilian rosewood back and sides; been looking for this exact guitar for years.
