  • Always loved Kate Bush - a true innovator and way ahead of her time.

  • Just amazing!

  • This live version is my favourite. I had this song in my head ALL through Christmas

  • True Magic.

  • wonderful.......

    everytime I watch this it

feels like the 1ST time !!

    New Years Greetings !!!

  • A voice like warm honey in the winter air!

  • Should be on itunes!

  • This is the most beautiful version of "December....." that I have ever heard ! "50 Words..." is great but there's nothing as truly SNOWY as this on the album.

  • @ThePROTO1TYPE I like December will be Magic Again but he whole 50WFS album is inherently snowy! Listen again :P

  • @arabiansanchez I HAVE listened - 50 times at least - but I don't hear snow (maybe because falling snow makes no sound :-)). "Misty" gives me the chills (I LOVE IT ! ) and I can visualise snow while listening to "Wild Man" and "Snowflake" .

  • Fantastic!

  • beautiful lady

  • Also gutted this isn't on iTunes! : (

    Amazing song...

  • Why cant i find this on i tunes ???

  • I love her face at 3:20 <3

    Beautiful song. :D

  • Beautiful person singing a beautiful song. Kate has the link to whats real in life.

  • Kate makes every month magical. <3

  • can see my fav video to this down the side but still blocked, please give us an early christmas pressie and unblock.xxxxxxx

  • One of my all time favourites this song, excellent !

  • I have the vinyl single of this :D I love it I got it when I was 4 years old from a thrift store in Chicago. I had no idea who Kate Bush was but would later rediscover this vinyl in my teens after already loving the musical works of Tori Amos. Kate Bush one of my all time favorite artists.

  • Wasn't this released in Dec 1980?

  • @simplyeightiesdotcom Yes, but Kate wrote it in 1979 and she performed it both on this show and the 1979 ABBA Snowtime Special.

  • @Symphonyofflowers Oh thanks. Didn't know that. A handy bit of info :-)

  • @simplyeightiesdotcom Yep, sadly it only reached No.29 for Kate in December 1980! Such a great song!

  • Somebody post the studio version please please please please. Love this woman so much. lol xxx

  • excellent song

  • Hello, you English snow angels. If you read this, or if someone points you to this post, please repost your student version on Vimeo or Yukou or another site and alert us here in this forum. Thank you, and happy holidays! Bryan

  • Is the studio single not on YouTube anymore? :(

  • @Timelord1994 No, all the videos with the studio versions have been blocked. But the videos are still there and hopefully they will be "unblocked" soon.

  • What happened to the music video? :( I don't understand why they have to block it when we all want to watch it because we LOVE her.

  • the look she gives at 1.07 was pure sexuality

  • she had such a smouldering sensuality about her it was truly magical

  • come on guys and gals can someone post the snow angels, its become a tradition as bry says

  • 1979 ???????

are you sure about the year ??

  • @billyralphweeden Yes, of course I am sure. This show was broadcast on December 28, 1979.

  • @Symphonyofflowers

    thanks for the reply........

It seems this song is more recent......

    Happy Holidays to All !!!!

  • I just love this, was looking for the video of the "students in the snow" miming to this song... love and peace to all "decemberists"

  • Will someone repost the lovely version by the British students doing snow angels in the field? This has become a holiday tradition for me and mine. Please repost or give instructions to another site. Happy Holidays!

  • @cheezybry I guess that video has been blocked. EMI have blocked all videos that contain a studio version of this song, both the official version and the "Bongo Mix". So if anyone reposts that video it will probably be blocked immediately. The reason this video is still available is because it is a live performance. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if the videos get "unblocked".

  • @Symphonyofflowers Thanks for the update. I hope they post it on another site!

  • @cheezybry ive been looking for that too

  • @cheezybry I also love this affectionate fan video but was sadened i coulodn't find it on youtube, but i googled and found it on a video sharing site called Vimeo, i don't know how to uplaod,

  • Six people are Tori Amos.

    Only one.

    Only Kathy.

  • Kate Bush is a genius !

  • Just so, so beautiful! Thanks, Kate!

  • I remember at the hospital at christmas this song was on a cd and when no one was looking i pressed the replay so i heard it over and over again

  • Oh God she's so YUM I could puke!! BLEUUURRGGGGHHH!! Ooops, too late! ;D

  • Thanks Symphony, you`ve managed to make a 50 year old builder cry over a christmas song ......in April.

I`ve loved her since I was was 15 and can go to my grave happy I`ve heard her voice.

    Beautiful lady-Beautiful talent

  • Pure genius! My favourite contemporary Christmas song.

  • Oh my God I love her

  • This version is even more beautiful than the one where she dances in the chair.

  • I prefer the version with her in the red chair.

  • I still would have sex with kate bush

  • Just exquisite. This is what I want Christmas to be--and I'm from Detroit, MI USA!

  • she reminds me of a beautiful singing doll.

  • She is beautiful.

  • haha, me and my friend started singing this at Taunton Christmas lights. I don't know very many people our age (22) that have heard this long, it's such a shame

  • omg how good is kate bush - she knocks the x factor wannabes in to the next century

  • es muy bonita :))

  • beautiffull!!

I can hear to this all day long......

  • Sublime and timeless. Thank you for posting!

  • I so love her voice, and her sprites. Delightful lady.

  • Comment removed

  • @kirkwallboy Three words: irritable bowel syndrome.

  • I5 years old all those years ago!!

  • see how i fall in love for kate

  • The first time I heard this song I was in Swaffham on a winter night. Whenever I hear it I can see the snow falling on the roofs and even smell the coal smoke. One of Kate's many talents is evoking imagery.

  • Simply stunning!!! I was fortunate to receive this 45 and picture sleeve for Christmas this year!! The Magic Again!!

  • I thought she was singing "Oooh and":)

  • This is a truly beautiful performance, I watch it over and over again.. Kate sings the lyrics from her heart and the little nuances she throws throughout the song are perfect.she even sings und (german) instead of "and "!

  • Enchanting. . . . goosebumps all over.

    She's made it "magic again".

    Thank you.

  • So beautiful.

  • Amazing as usuall

  • she is an incredible artist.... remarkable...

  • Truly.

  • Thanks for the info. I suppose it just highlights that behind the big names in music there are a lot of extremely talented people who are not given much credit for beautiful performances like this.

  • Dtrickb - regarding the bloke in the background - I think his piano playing is fab. If you watch him and listen carefully, he is responsible for all the wonderful background stuff at 0:50 and 2:34. It sounds like an angel practising their scales. He also gets right into it - a bit like David Gray - and I love that. Anyone any idea who he is?

  • The man on the piano in the background is Kevin McAlea.

  • I love Kate Bush but for whatever reason I've never heard this before. As usual I find myself holding my breath when I hear her. This has just become my favourite festive tune. I wonder if the Xfactor idiots would appreciate Kate if she had auditioned on their torture show.

  • perfection...i simply adore this performance.... it is christmas for me...it could not be bettered...enough said

  • Kate is incredible. Every one has their own musical tastes. Kate is often overlooked because she doesn't churn out commercial pop songs on demand. She is above been manipulated and writes when she wants to. Everyone on this page knows what a rare talent she is.

    God bless you Kate

  • Big up Kate

  • I particularly like the guy in the background.

  • love.

  • Impeccable! Another flawless song from her and this video captures the holiday mood in a nice, gentle way. Merry Christmas to all of the Kate Bush fans out there!

  • Now she was one very gifted and talented lady producing great songs.

    Wonder what she's doing now?

  • Kate brought out a fantastic double album called Aerial in 2005. It is amongst her best work. I don't think she has released owt since.

  • Love this!

  • one word:Beautifull. Her voice, her face, her body, and oh so talented.I was only four but I remember thinking "what a pretty lady".A true one off and truly original.we love you Kate.

  • One of a kind lady, and a perfect Christmas song :)

  • wonderful song from of xmas 1980... from my my favourite singer and a wonderful lady...thanks for the memories kate.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG, YOU GO KATE.

  • Not quite sure you have the hang of the lyrics there but marvelous song!

  • The lyrics are from the official studio version while the version performed here is an earlier version of the song. That's why the lyrics are different.

  • Thanks 4 that - just was interested in the lyrics and they were not coinciding with what I was hearing and my CD version is in the car just now!

  • @Symphonyofflowers You and those blokes who invented YouTube half a decade ago have my eternal gratitude. Many thanks. Note to EMI, release a bloody DVD of this stuff ferchrisaakes!

  • @womanwithgreeneyes hmm...not bad given she wrote it when she was about 15...

  • I have never heard of nor have seen Kate play this thanks!

  • It was released as a christmas single only , (45 rpm record) as far as I can remember. It isnt on any of her albums of the time.

  • The sad thing is Americans were missing out on her all the way until 1985 when she FINALLY had a hit or two here. The US radio stations were too busy playing Madonna and heavy metal junk.

  • Nothing wrong with some metal (notice how I didn't mention Madonna), but yes I suppose that could be said about a lot of non-US artists. There are a few brits that have managed to make it to some extent in the US, but they're quite few - as for non-anglo countries, the ratio is much worse, obviously.

  • I don't think she can be judged or reviewed or observed or appreciated within ANY common scale known to mankind. She's way way beyond us mortals. What a previlige it is to hear and see this - nothing comes close.

  • @capellasistin Absolutely agree......Kate is a Musical Goddess to us and so incredible and uniquely special.

She has always been loved and admired and is in the hearts of millions of fans .

Her reclusiveness adds to the magic and mystery and mysticism that has always surrounded her.

It would be good if she was seen a bit more though. Imagine she went on a "Celebrity Reality" show, the ratings would go through the roof just because she was on it but she has the good sense not to.

  • EXQUISITE!

  • Incredible tune...

  • God Bless Kate Bush!

  • foda!

  • Perfect.

  • Kate is perfect as always!

  • yes,to all the above comments;

kudos also to the unnamed guy on the electric piano.

He and the rest of the band propel Kate

  • The guy on the electric piano is Kevin McAlea. He also played saxophone on the live version of "The Saxophone Song".

  • Yes! And Kevin McAlea also played synth on The morning fog....

  • Enraptured with Kate since I was a teenager and first heard this song. I think of it as a winter song too but can't resist it in October! Kate herself is magical and this song has a mystery like a John Masefield book. It helps that Kate is supremely talented and gorgeous too!

  • Fell in love with Kate when I was 15 the same year this song came out, not only gorgeous but supremely talented, magical.

  • AHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

    Gorgeous!

  • Some months ago I promised myself that I wouldn't listen to this until Christmas - I think this song is so special that it should be played only in winter, just like carols. But as you can see, I failed! This is just too good to resist :D

  • I've fallen as well! I play it all year (starting Dec 25th) (-:

  • @likeagoodbook I so agree with you......BUT as it's snowing here and really wintry i think i'm excused........

  • I shall have a peaceful dream now thanks to this brilliant performance.

    Thankyou

  • amazing.....

  • sounds like bells from heaven.

    kate forever.

  • Oooh, it's beautiful inside, here in Katie's mind.

And if her voice, music, lyrics and performance weren't enough, she has the most beautiful mouth I have ever seen.

  • Perhaps Torrid Amid aka Tori Amos copied from Kate Bush...

  • Yep, i think so.

  • Amazing 19/10 xxxxx

  • "Amazing 19/10 xxxxx"

    You made me laugh!!

I totally agree with nineteen out ten stars.

  • She's amazing I was in 'Come Back Kate' the Dutch documentary about her... Kate's an Icon. xxxx

  • great! who are you?

  • I'm the guy on the beach in Budleigh with Matt... I ask the question 'do you ever get a reply?*... *nope* say's Matt

  • amazing voice..sexy gaze

  • this version really brings out deep saturated notes, love her

  • i just love her

  • enchanting Lady

  • Beautiful song, beautiful girl.

  • She is blessed.

  • She makes my mind swirl. I don't even know what to say about her..and how talented and amazing she is. She's one in a billion.

  • This is simply too beautiful for the average mortal.

  • Two pianos here, electric(Rhodes) and grand.

  • When you think of the deluge of absolute crap pushed forward as female talent these days, Leona, Alexandra Burke, Diana vickers, Rhianna, Beyonce, X Factor, American Idol winners etc etc etc

And then look at Kate you really realise how far music has fallen in such a short time, there's noone to touch her for talent, musical genius, originality and brilliance. Sad, sad sad.

  • But isn't it only because of that deluge that we recognize Kate for how wonderful she is? Would(n't) it be sadder if music was all on the same level all the time?

It's almost surreal to watch and hear her sing this way...this quality is indeed unheard of nowadays, which makes me appreciate it all the more...

  • totally agree!
