  • Dory Funk, Jr. was the NWA World's Heavyweight Champion on October 27, 1969. A great time to be a wrestling fan.

  • I was at ringside on Miami beach several times when these two fought. Every meeting was wrestling history. I remember the red welts on Jack's chest from Dory's forearm hits. In real life the Briscos and Funks were good friends. Both Funks were at Jack's furneral.

  • Oh wow, this is the wrestling I remember! Actual technical skill employed! Chair shots, ladders, gimmicky crap nowdays bears almost no resemblance to the real deal. Doesn't say much for today's fans.

  • Great stuff. Man, things have changed and not for the better.

  • I was at ringside 3 times as a teen to view these two in a match on Miami Beach. No matches were ever better. In real life I heard the Funks and Briscos were close friends. I hear Jerry is also quite sick with heart problems like Jack had.

  • Dory Funk Jr. said everything he did in the ring with Jack Brisco was a pleasure. You can see why in this great match.

  • Rest in peace, Jack Brisco.

  • RIP JACK BRISCO GREAT WRESTLER THANKS

  • RIP. Loved watching you wrestle.

  • using the same moves has not produced the same in revenue -- must be something different

    hmmmmmmmmmm

  • Yes, like a major overhaul of the business, and not for the better. Comparing houses from the 1970s with indie houses today is just plain ridiculous.

  • Austin Aries??? how do you get a Funk out of him? or a Funk out of Strong or

Richards?? you must be able to see something no one else can

  • I meant 1973, not 1966

  • Its too bad that all today's fans want are high spot after high spot. This is the type of match I grew up on.

  • The only guys that could wrestle a match like this today are Bryan Danielson, Regal, Chris Jericho, Angle and possibly, Jack Swagger.

  • WWE roster.....watch and learn. Regal, Mysterio and Jamie Noble....you may be excused.

  • Does anybody know what year this was? I'm guessing 1975 or 76.

  • I used to go see Jack Brisco in Miami, Fl. when I was a kid, he was my favorite wrestler. I liked when he got mad and raked his hands across his head and did the figure four leglock, great memories for sure !!

  • 3:57からの巻き投げの攻防がいいな

  • I wonder if this is the match from Jan. 1974.... if so it was PWI's MOTY

  • Dory Funk Jr. was originally supposed to lose his belt to Brisco but he wouldn't because Brisco was a face, so he lost it to Harley Race instead...who lost it to Brisco...who lost it to Dory's brother Terry.

  • wow that is a new twist

  • Real moves...not the acrobatics that pass as wrestling today!!!

  • Great match between two high skilled competitors.

  • you have no idea what you're talking about, dory funk jr was huge in japan, and had the NWA title several times, some may argue that he is the best technical wrestler of all time!

  • Only remember Dory holding the NWA World title the one time, but it was a 4 year reign.

  • U know what ur talking about, Dory held the title 1 time ... but it was 4 4 1/2 years!

  • Mark Nulty is in man love with Jack Brisco.

  • ITS TRADITION

  • Great match!

  • I bet Cody Rhodes, Carlito, Michaels, Angle, Samoa Joe, and Nunzio are probably the only current wrestlers who could wrestle a match like this.

  • Carlito be a pussy!

  • i don't think they could, they're athletic, but I doubt they have the cardiovascular endurance or Dory & Jack's uncanny timing & ring psychology 2 wrestle this type of match. William Regal & Bryan Danielson i do believe r capable of wrestling this type of match though.

  • This is classic wrestling! There is no way that the WWE compares. These young guys cannot wrestle.

  • Dory, this is a good post. You and Jack had some classic matches all over the world; Florida, Japan, Mid-Atlantic, Georgia? I know the Brisco's entered the WWE Hall of Fame this year. I hope they select you next year, especially with Wrestlemania being in Houston & you being from Texas. They will probably lean toward the old Mid-South/UWF, which was run by Bill Watts. Did you ever make any appearances for Mid-South? Let me know.

  • racevs flair -- of course ,did u know race dom flair in there matches from 77-83 race was god ,how bout race vs rhodes flair vs rhodes bruno vs super ,bruno vs shiek

  • Amazing! Matches like this can still entertain me more than todays stuff. At least Vince still has the Hall Of Fame. And I also prefered WWF instead of WWE. Just and opinion. Also, another great rivalry was Dick The Bruiser vs. Dick Murdoch. They hated each other!!!!

  • Alright WRESTLING FANS (not sports entertainment) I'm going to raise some dialog. Best WRESTLING rivalries:

Dory Funk Jr. vs. Jack Brisco

    Ric Flair vs. Rick Steamboat

    Verne Gagne vs. Billy Robinson

    Harley Race vs. Ric Flair

Uhhh, help guys, I really can't think of to many great WRESTLING rivalries.

  • U should add Bobo Brazil vs The Sheik

  • How about the Von Erichs versus the Fabulous Freebirds

    ? ;)

  • Good match but who won?

  • What a classic. Good old-school wrestling. If they aren't on steroids & arent"sports entertainers" Vince don't want it. Please somebody bring back wrestling like this.

  • No wonder these guys took their feud across the NWA in the 70's they worked so well together.

  • This brings back memories of Championship Wrestling from Florida and the great matches these two men had. Wrestkers today cannot work a match like Jack and Junior could.

  • I couldn't agree more. I guess you can't get wrestling talent from inside a steroid bottle, huh?
