  • Why is this song on Disraeli Gears on my iPod?

  • Winwood's voice was as haunting then, as it is now.

  • fantasticcccccccccccccccccccccccc

  • whoa never heard this, interesting yet another rock song in 5/4! love windwood's voice, decent sound quality too THX!

  • @jamesedwardtheobald si nuna escuchaste esto,te invito a escuhar todo el disco,,es impresinante...bilnd faith...aprovecha q solo sacaron un disco..es irrepetible

  • ok just for the record people eric never sang in the album. he didnt want to be band leader and he also really liked stevies vocals.

  • @greatcomedian18 Are you guys sure Clapton didn`t sing on "Prescence Of The Lord"? Someone awhile back said Clapton couldn`t have sung on that one cause of the high notes. But Clapton wrote it; I DO know that much: how could he not hit those high notes since he wrote it???

  • @estyle40 yep i just listened again thats definitely steve. but i know clapton does sing the song later in his career like when derek and the dominos performed at the fillmore

  • @greatcomedian18 Maybe THAT`S what Im thinkin of............ok, sorry bout that. See? You DO learn somethin new evry day. lol

  • It is kind of like "Take Five" in that it's in 5/8 (I think), but that's where the similarity ends for me. Great lost track, Clapton is God on this for sure. Really sounds like Traffic also, don't know who wrote it presumably Stevie Winwood...His organ transcends time and space, what a gifted man...Thanks, A

  • this song is fantastic!

i got high this morning and have been taking a lovely trip down memory lane. traffic, cream, the animals, pink floyd.

music and pot! who'd a thunk it! :)

i'm 57 and still love the stuff i grew up with!

  • @raaider100 Spot on. Wonderful music.

  • I saw Cream at the Grande Ballroom in DetroitI It was and still is Magical! Someone said "Spiritual". I get high just listening to them right now. Close your eyes! Windwood controlled the stage, his voice is incredible. But when Clapton played, the jam was on MFer's. Ginger Baker, toothless, smiling big, playing the hell out of those drums. (My dentist played Polo with Ginger here in Hawaii. He's the dentist that fixed up his teeth). What an era!

  • @zooskstupidx99 There's only one Peter "Ginger" Baker both in drumming and playing polo.

  • i just keep playing it over and over.

  • This jam is out of sight like Rainbow Brite.

  • spirituality at his best!

    deep soul

  • its great that Brubeck's Take Five inspired this great song.. Better yet, I dont see any kind of copying.. other than that quiet, addictive cool feeling it sends out.. and whattabout the lyrics, awesome/ eternal genius!

  • Istenem miért nem tudnak ilyen zenét csinálni manapság??!

  • i was 15 yrs young when this album came out loved it then love it now at58 to be on 4 th of july, raybabe frm phx. az,

  • The one person who dislikes must be a Bieber/Katy Perry/Taylor Swift fan. Admit it! LOL

  • Great Song !!!

  • great song

  • thanks Maka! this is the best version on Youtube by far. you have really good taste in music and thank you very much for this. the audio quality is perfect even over here in Viet Nam. your effort to post this is appreciated all over the world.

  • Thanks for posting this song. Ginger Baker is THE man. Great jazz drummer.

  • clapton es el mejor musico del mundo

  • Read & heard recently (3/11) that Ginger Baker is alive and still playing. excellent kudos!

  • @TheJcfclark That is great that he`s still kickin, I`ll give him that. Too bad it aint with Clapton and Winwood; ANYTHING beats what we got goin on today, that`s for sure. LOL

  • Read & heard recently (3/11) that Ginger Baker is alive and still playing. excellent kudos!

  • ahh yes!!!!!

  • boorrrrringggggggg SING!!! SING!!! its just the same beat stuck! DUH

  • one of the most finest rock ever played, and one ginger's best performances ever.

as a drummer I know wht I am talking about.

    Thanks for this!!

  • @stopitbebopit Ginger's a great drummer, master of polyrhythms

  • @sebastiansap2003 i agree. Ginger's the man

  • One of the canon of rock of its era. Love the jazz like notes Clapton plays early in the son. Gonna go listen to Brubek's piece right away and listen for the connections.

Does Winwood to all the vocals in this song, or do we hear Clapton too?

Did Clapton sing on any of the other songs on their album?

  • @excompost I'm pretty sure he haven't sing on this song nor eny other on this record. I think songs are mostly composed for Winwood's voice, which is way higher and different, than Clapton's so it would be hard for Eric to keep up. ALso Eric Clapton tried to remain low-profile in this particular project, be just one of the band members to rest after Cream's succesful years.

  • @makapaci He did write and sing on "Prescence Of The Lord". Dont think thats spelled right, but you get the idea.

  • @estyle40 No, he only wrote it. Winwood sung on it, Clapton wouldn't be able to hit as high notes.

  • @makapaci Well I gotta hear that again, cause I swear that`s Clapton. But it has been awhile.........

  • @excompost - I hear you loud and clear with Dave Brubeck; but it's only a basic touch. It's just too sad these guys only did one album in that formation. Clapton was second voice as in the refrains; this is music way beyond it's time. And I love it 'cause it's a long version. Much to the dismay of certain customers at the pub where I was and played that as GOOD NIGHT"

  • @excompost presence of the lord

  • @blapis89 oops no winwood again, sorry

  • @excompost The connection to Brubek's Take Five is basically the time signature of 5 over 4. Clapton may be singing in the back-ups.

  • I'm glad this song hit so many views, and thank you fir that and for all the valuable comments you had posted.

  • FINALLY SOMEONE UPLOADED THIS!

  • Yes, this has been making my hair stand on end since I got it on vinyl in 1969.

  • I remember a DJ in Mexico, he used to play this song all the time. This one and Butterfly Bleu by Iron Butterfly.

  • I never knew before now that this was inspired by Dave Brubeck's "Take Five". Now that I've had that pointed out, it's so obvious. Amazing musicians.

  • Each one of their solos is absolutely sublime!

  • I love the way Clapton breaks into his solo after Winwood's great spaced out keyboard fest. Ginger's counterpoint with Clapton's solo is 2nd only to Ginger Baker's insane solo at the end.

  • @thirdstone3

Good call broseph, thanks for the share!

  • Found a time machine. Tomorrow im gonna be in 1969, Hyde Park.

  • Room for 2?

  • @hendrix950 No problem.
