ted williams hit .200 in the playoffs. also, even though i love him, i gotta call out Derek Jeter for his performance, or lack thereof, in the 2007 ALDS against the indians. he must have ground into 91028409213821 rally killing double plays. and what right is it of yours to comment of A-Rod's personal life? arent we talking about sports and not what he does during his PRIVATE TIME? take a look at the Yanks record when A-Rod was out for those 17 games and think about how we'd be without him.

and Willie Mays, recognized by some people (not me) as the best player ever hit .247 in the playoffs. vlad guerrero hits .240. d-wright hits .216. jose reyes hits .250. ryan howard hits .266. Utley hits .213. even dustin pedroia hits .262 in the playoffs. Alex hits .279 in the playoffs. are the guys i listed not superstars, or are u just gonna deny that they are? hes the best player in baseball (BA worse than pujols but more power, rbi and baserunning) and we're better off with his bat.

okay great facts...BUT you leave out the key and most important fact...Arod is the highest paid player in the history of sports...tell me when those guys you mentioned got paid half of what Arod makes...A player that makes that amount of money better play like Michael Jordin or even better than that

a player doesnt just get paid based on performance. how many fannies do you think A-Rod puts in the seats? how many jerseys do you think he sells? how many things with his autograph are sold by the Yankees? and honestly, if willie mays or ted williams were around now, you honestly dont think they'd be each getting paid 26 million dollars a year plus?

im sorry but i just dont accept that...just because a player fills seats or sells jerseys doesnt justify how good he plays or if he can produce in crunch time...But to be honest i dont think Arod is cut for New York...he cant handle the pressure and he cant handle the responsiblity...maybe he could suceed somewhere else but not here...sorry but i just cant accept Arod as a Yankee

yeah, he cant handle pressure, like how he singlehandedly dragged the Yankees into the playoffs in 2007. 54 homers, 156 RBI and a .314 batting average dont qualify as success. guess you're right.

hell yeah i'm a Yankee fan, NYC born and raised. yes, i seriously believe in A-Rod. every player who has an opt out uses it, its almost customary cause they know they'll get more money. can i blame him for wanting more money and having the means to get it? if sabathia performs great and uses his opt out to rework a better contract, will i blame him? no, cause everyone would do the same thing. the fact that he went back to the team against his agents orders proved to me he wants to be here.

cool i was born and raised too...but i do agree with you that players do utilize the opt if its in the contract...but Arod was getting paid enough as it is...why take more money from the team?...the Yankees need to add more players but even the Yankees well can run dry too...im really glad we got sabathia and i thought we should have gotten him or Santana last year

if i offered you a spot on the Yankees and said you could either have 27.5 mil or 25 mil, which would you take? lol cmon man, some common sense please. and with the team we had last year, we had no chance of winning anyways so there woulda been no point trading for sabathia when we could just sign him like this. and if they had traded for santana they wouldnt have signed sabathia.
