The world record here is is with Funky Kong + Torpedo/Spear, but you can also use Bowser Bike/Flame Runner (You can use Rosalina if you don't have Funky Kong yet)

pretty good, but you should definately take a different bike, if you want to get the best time possible.

for time trial on MKWii everything, that counts, is speed, so the best choice for beginners is the bowser bike

another thing. you do much more precise movements with a control stick, but it's up to you, what you prefer
