If you check the video-recordings of: : "Live In Bischofswerda" and " Live In Marseille 2000" , you see that Maniac was an amazing live-performer. Maniac was great in his prime.

Maniac cannot do de mysteriis dom sathanas live, because he does not have the vocal style that attila has in that album or live. Attila did and made the songs that maniac did in previous albums live and made it a lot better. De Mysteriis is their best album because of euronymous guitar work, hellhammers drumming and attilas vocals.

I wasn't even comparing the 2. For me, Atilla is my all-time favorite vocalist but there're things that even Atilla can't do. The insane scratching screams from Maniac on the Wolf Lair Abyss, not anyone comes close to such a inhuman sound.

Most Mayhem fans will never appreciate the Wolf's Lair Abyss album because its too extreme for them and there is no identification level possible between heavenly sheeps and a raging, uncontrolable wolf. He was the voice behind the legendary Deathcrush, he was the guy behind Grand Declaration of War and Wolf's Lair brilliantly throughful lyrics, he was the complete and perfectly fitting "nutjob" behind some of the most extreme performances of Black Metal history and he had a very distinctive, insanely possessed vocal style that few could ever match. So, basically, shut the fuck up, you imbecile. :)

Ordo Ad Chao was much more consistent.

Dead on the other hand I found quite a perfect voice for Mayhem for the overall image he and euronymous were pushing the band into and Maniac on A Grand Declaration I've started to hate less and less each time I listen.

I think MayheM is really artistic in the way that their music is much more than just entertainment, they are far beyond. Dead was an almost mystic figure, and help to define the MayheM sound/concept, but i don`t like his voice. Maniac make an incredible concept on Grand Declaration.. a bizarre dictator.

@arturoblacksabbath I'm not entirely sure about the drugs, Necrobutcher and Hellhammer took a whole lot when they first met back in 1988/89 whenever. Black metal fans are just so often anti-drugs that they have selective hearing and supress all the stuff that interferes with their idealistic lifestyle.

And yes, Atilla's experimenting was history. I'm just slightly frustrated it wasn't Dead doing it. Dead had the perfect personality and influence for how the album was intended to be.
