  • I sure wish he was back.

  • Still relevant. Win tomorrow, boys.

  • Wow. So... I'm gonna listen to this before the game tomorrow night. I wish Larschied was covering the Canucks now. Canucks nation could sure use some of his words of wisdom.

  • I agree with bigwhite06: It's Deja Vu all over again...and the fact that (ok,thumb me down now folks) Luongo is starting for game 6 just makes me ಥ_ಥ.

  • Crazy how this speech applies to the situation we are in now. Deja Vu in the very worst sense.

  • Is anyone guaranteeing the Canucks are going all the way? I'm sure any logical fan out there realizes how much work is needed to go into a long playoff run. But what does any of that have to do with Mike Gillis being a bad GM? All you're doing is attacking him with lame insults. The scenario you just mentioned has nothing to do with Gillis being a bad GM. You think if the Canucks have another 2nd round exit that Gillis will be out the door? You're out of you're mind.

  • Isn't larsheid on CFAX1070 now?

  • It's not the same with out Larscheid. He's the man. Miss you Larscheid.

  • This was the speech that got Tommy fired by that thin skinned, greasy, skinned arrogant ASSHOLE, Mike Gillis. As long as that greasy skinned dog is GM, I'm done with the Canucks! Hope he dies!!!! PIG!!!!!

  • What is all this nonsense about Tommy being a "homer" and always "ripping" the team. When I think of Tom Larscheid I think of laughter, smiling, happiness. He calls it like he sees it, either way. You guys will see how much of a tasteless gruel Tomlinson will be serving up every night, just x's and o's and boring analysis. Tommy is a legend who will be greatly missed and never forgotten. I don't even listen to Team1040 anymore, imagine kicking an old man down a flight of stairs!

  • Tommy you are a legend

  • c ya tom. u wore your heart on your sleeve, but this speech truly tells us its time for you to go.

  • Gillis has done an excellent job running the team so far, let's get that straight. But Tommy was not a corporate guy. In the end, it's a business, and Gillis and Aquilini never saw the money in Larscheid ripping the team when they choked. We loved him because he brought integrity to the game. But for the non-hockey fans Aquilini is selling his product to, integrity doesn't sell tickets. BS does. Tommy said all this because he KNEW he was done at the end of the season. We'll miss you, buddy.

  • @surfer53 WTF? What has Gillis done that's so "excellent"? Signing Sundin? Yea, that worked out well. How 'bout Demitra? That the "excellency" you speak of? Drafting Cody Hodgson ahead of Tyler Myer? That one??? Where exactly is the "excellence" in ANYTHING Gillis has done in terms of hockey? The only thing Gillis has managed to perform with "excellence" is selling a load of propaganda to gullible fans that the Canucks are a championship caliber team.

  • @geoffck6969 2 words - Jason Spezza. He spent a year in the AHL before he became an NHL star. Cody's going to have to do that too. What Gillis HAS done is give the team a pool of prospects they can be excited about. Granted, Burke and Nonis gave us the twins, Kes and Raymond. But drafting well is no good if you can't develop those players. Schroeder is 19, and Cody is 20. Give them a year. Using that logic, the Oilers should fire Tambellini because they probably won't make the playoffs this year

  • @surfer53 You have no clue do you. Any hockey person will tell you that Schroeder is a bust. Don't take my word for it - do some research. And the organization has put Connaughton front and centre as the face of that draft. Why not Schroeder? because he CANNOT play at an NHL level, and word is he never will be able to. As for Hodgson, even the most optimistic folks in the Canucks organization have written that thing off. Don't believe me tho. Ask Ronnie Delorme. I have...

  • @geoffck6969

I think he's a decent gm seeing as they just clinched 1st overall.

  • @BigCalm55 That's a reasonable comment so I will counter with a reasonable response. Mike Gillis has done very little to improve the Canucks since he signed with them. The Sedin's are Burkie draft picks as is Kesler and Schneider. Luongo was acquired by Nonis. The two moves that I will give Gillis positive marks for are the Malholtra signing and keeping Burkie's and Nonis' group together to let them mature. But Canucks fans are a gullible bunch. Let's see them get past round 2! Then gloat!

  • @geoffck6969

Are you kidding me? Do you know how much MG has done behind the scenes in this organization? Do you know how genius he is to have resigned the core players of this team to such small contracts considering most of those guys would be receiving 2-3 M more in the open market? Do you know how much Gillis has turned this organization around to make it an attractive place for free agents to come and play here? It's not just signing players that make a good GM. It's A LOT more than that.

  • @westcoastsmoke Lol! Sorry not interested in licking Mike Gillis' balls. I'll leave that to lackey's like you. Nor do I go in for 'hero worship'. In sports people go from 'hero' to 'zero' real fast! My guess is that will happen for 'Greasy' Gillis right around mid to late May. Probable scenario: round 2, Van vs Nasville (worst nightmare!). Series tied 2-2, game 5, 3rd period, 2-1 Van. Soft goal given up by Luongo with under 7 min to go. Nash goes on to win in ot. Preds go on to win in 7!

  • Mike Gillis FIRED Tom Larscheid. He didn't willingly retired. He was told to leave, and to do it with a smile.

  • @RockoSDMF you my good sir, are a retard

  • @cobrafangz No, I just read every Ed Willis column.

Whether Gillis fired him or not, I can't see how this was Tommy's decision. Not even an offer to just do home games? Maybe Tommy didn't want to work part time, I don't know. But something just didn't seem like it was a legitimate retirement. If you remember, Tommy openly spoke of retirement after the (I think) 06/07 season. But with this, I wake up one morning and all of a sudden he's done? Something ain't right.

  • Tom larcheid, i grew up with you, and are one of the reasons i tuned into radio broadcasts. I will surely miss your enthusiasm, and your passion that you have for our hockey team

  • i know for sure everyone canucks fan well miss his voice, thank you tommy you are the best

  • Go Get em Tommy!

  • i think i may love you for getting this up
