The bands go to entertain a crowd. According to what I heard, FHS, was the crowd pleaser this year, so while we may have placed second on the drill and form, we were first in the crowds mind, so thts what matters to me.
FHS and LHS are two COMPLETELY different bands. FHS likes to do exciting, energetic shows, and LHS is pretty much a BOA band. i mean its stupid to compare the two; LHS is really good at what they do, and FHS would rather fly around the field like in movements 3 and 5. [FHS would run for about 8 minutes before every rehearsal, and during band camp we had cardio workouts everyday, the week before BOA we even did it in band class, so we could keep our stamina up to perform this fast-paced show]
lafeyette won 4 years in a row? i'm a senior now so i can't remmeber if they took it before, but lafeyette gets it way to much. almost everyone i talked to agreed fountainebleau should have won. i dont know how the scores were 5 points differences... thats way to many damn points
That's funny because everyone I talked to said Fontainebleau should have placed 3rd or 4th. They had a pretty good show, but it was definitely not a 1st or 2nd place show. Oh and what a ridiculous thing to say that LHS bribes the judges. I guess it's a nationwide conspiracy because LHS finished 3rd overall at Super Regionals in Atlanta, GA. They also won an award for "Best Musical Performance". I think anyone who has a problem with the scoring should take it up with the judges, not LHS Band.

I don't think anyone is saying LHS Band did anything underhanded to win Showcase - all the bands work hard and give their best performance. There is such a thing as home field advantage, and that does factor in, whether consciously or unconsciously, in the judge's scores... I wonder if the winner of Super Regionals was from Georgia?
Thanks for the congrats! Yes. 1st & 2nd place were from Georgia at Super Regionals. But, there were other very good bands from Lafayette that did not get as good of a score as they should have. And I agree, all the bands are winners as far as I'm concerned. They all work hard on their show. Congrats to all, and thanks to all the band leaders and parents who support & help the bands.

please don't compare based on the results of competitions that both bands didn't compete in. we did our BOA in the middle of the year and correct me if im wrong, you did yours after showcase. Not to say we would have beaten you there, just that to compare based on two different competitions makes no sense
I'm sure it's an honor for Lafayette to have every other band in the state trying to outperform them. Almost all of the comments I read are a comparison to Lafayette High. That has to make Lafayette feel even better about their performance. There were some really good bands this year. I was there and I've watched the videos posted on several other bands. In my opinion, and I know most of the audience agrees, the judges got it right. I just can't believe some of the nasty comments. Jealousy! LMAO
yea im in LHS band and its true half the comments ppl post are comparing us to other bands when no band is alike all bands are different in many ways which is what make showcase so exciting, you think if every single band was alike showcase would be interesting it would be like watching the same band 36 times, and i agree with you 100 percent on that i cant believe ppl would post nasty comments about us.ppl need to realize its not about winning all the bands there were awesome(YAY BANDS!!)
I thought that those sections and the use of the bassoon showed great innovation. Was pretty well integrated with the marching. That part actually caught my interest.
For those who believe that FBS should have received Grand Champion, Lafayette won due to soloists and Auxilleries. Execution of the Auxilleries, IMO, put LHS on top. Watch FBS with the sound off and pay attention to when the flags were supposed to be in unison. There were just too many times where the flags were out of sync. Both bands played technically hard music, so this was a wash. Both had difficult marching. LHS also had the flags within the forms more often, raising difficulty.
Mmk... Yes, the flags for FHS were not in sync, BUT they did do better this time. And secondly, I guarantee that FHS had the crowd roaring louder than they did for flippin' LHS. So BLEH!
I agree. LHS did not get me excited at all! FHS had me cheering like crazy and they aren't my school (I'm a CLHS TROJAN!), so you can't use that as an arguement. I loved the ending and thoguht it was very creative.
so, i go to ST, and i just wanted to let whoever poseted this and everyone who is in this band that it was an AMAZING SHOW. ya'll deserved Grand Champions. Not Laffeyette. It doesn't matter what the judges said, ya'll won. And i hope ya'll feel good about ya'll perfromance and know that EVERYONE down here agrees with me, and that ya'll ARE the band to beat Laffeyette in everyones mind.
Our band director to this day talks about this show. I just wish I could've seen it in person.

last year at grand nationals in indy LD Bell band won 1st and they are from texas......

BTW, Lafayettes show qualified for the finals at the Grand Nationals on their first attempt, putting them in rare company.
