Taco bell sure is cheap. So is McDonald's, jack in the box, and del taco. The difference is the taco truck actually prep, marinade, and cook their products fresh daily. If you like meat and beans that come in powder form, than taco bell is fine for you.

The actual places in Mexico are actually far superior to what you find in most taco trucks in the US. I got actual Al Pastor straight from the spit in Cancun, a huge difference between it and the reheated things you get from taco trucks.

this is all great, i love that traditional mexican tacos, keep moving on in the world, but, the people who own those trucks, are freaking rich, true tacos from street carts in mexico city, sell their tacos at about 3 to 6 pesos and tacos from taco establishments around town will sell their tacos in a range of 6 to 12 pesos, this applies only to tacos "al pastor" but is a good benchmark, however this tacos going for more than one dollar a piece, thats about 20 pesos for one taco, it's insane

The tacos featured are very different from those found in mainstream restaurants. Most of these trucks usually serve something known as a torta which is a sandwich filled with anything you ask. Its hard to concieve of a Mexican food without a tortilla but the torta is it, its basically french bread. I actually enjoy both styles of mexican food although this kind is a lot more healthy than the gringo american style.

Actually there are quite a few Mexican dishes that do not have tortillas, one of the most popular is the Torta, which is a Mexican style sandwich. It uses a Bollilo which is the Mexican version of French bread.
