I'm not sure why everyone is ripping on him because of his race. He is rated high for his basketball play outside of high school. I watched him play against some of the best this country has to offer at the ADIDAS Nations. Granted he needs to stay more focused on D, but he held his own. It seemed that when he wanted to, he scored. He had like three or four possessions in a row where he scored at will. It would have been exciting to see him with JP but that will just be a "what if" now.
@empeypat Im not saying now. Eventually Dekker will be better than Brusewitz. He will get his share of dunks. I agree with Bo needs to recruit some more gaurds but he has a good start with Bronson Koenig and Zak Showalter. I saw Showalter play. He is the real deal.
@empeypat you must not watch the badgers play frequently. I have seen him dunk a few times. Also, brusewitz is not at the skill level of sam dekker in the first place. Dekker is an inch taller and has more jumping ability.

@justBELIEVE3232 Even if a kid is "totally committed" to a school at an early age, the others still work on them in case they don't like the system/coach fired and/or jerk/bad grades/etc and look to transfer somwhere else. He didn't have offers from the aforementioned schools that normally offer blue chippers. Not saying he's bad. He's a great player. Just not the prospect that Tokoto is. The best prospects get offers when they are soph/junior, etc...
National recruiting sites ESPN, Rivals, and Scout all have Dekker rated higher than Takoto. Its because they played on the same AAU team this summer and Sam was clearly the best player on the team when they played other teams with top 100 prospects.
Don't get me wrong, Takoto is good and he is a fantastic athlete, but Dekker is a much more skilled offensive player at this point.

Bo Ryan would pull Dekker's scholarship for a commitment from Tokoto right now if he could. Sam's only big 10 offer was wisco.
very good highlights here from the wisconsin bound dekker. but ill be damned if he's better than the carolina bound tokoto. this is where you see politics come into play on wissports. he's ranked higher than tokoto because of his commitment, just like germantown is ranked higher than madison memorial because of showalter's commitment. not hating on dekker or showalter, dekker is an amazing player, and showalter is a hustler. but tokoto is the shit. just my opinion.

@Jokester1338 There have been numerous examples of D3 players who have had great college careers. Bo Ryan saw something in this kid a few years ago when he was a virtual unknown, so I tend to trust his judgment. And I would hope UNC is better. They have 5 star recruits lining up to play for them...

@Jaybrady15 Sam committed very early. What most people did not see is that even after he committed schools still were chasing him and talking to him to see if they could get him away from UW. Had Sam not committed so early you would be seeing much more offers from big name schools for him. i agree JP should be a lot higher than he is. @pacman2 I am from Kiel and I scouted a game early in the past season against Cedar-Grove for Kiel and he shows flashes of greatness and at times he looks like a normal player. Yeah, at 6'7" the sky is the limit for him and he is playing in a slightly less than average conference. His shot needs a little work, but he will get plenty of help with that aspect of the game. He is more of a scorer/slasher, rather than a shooter. Defense needs a little work as well, that is just me.
@pacman2 dunks with no one on him? 1:01- he dunks on the whole team.. and 1:08 he posterizes that guy. anyone with that much athleticism, starting on the best AAU team in wisconsin, and a guy who is unselfish will work great in an offense like the swing.

@pacman2 I am one of those kids in the videos where we get railed by Sammy D.. But the video doesn't show you how good of a shooter he is either. He only dunks it like once or twice a game but still averaged 35 points per game last year because he is lights out from anywhere on the court. It was way more demoralizing when he pulled up in my face from 35 feet out 3 times in a row down the court then when he threw down a sick alley-oop.
@pacman2 he plays for an AAU team called playground elite, if u watch more videos you will see his true skill, which is great.. im in the same division as sam dekker and i was impressed with what i saw..
