Religion does not create a bunch of rules or regulations... The problem is that some people choose follow what they think God wants instead of, choosing to do what God WANTS us to do. It's not about rules it's about doing what God wants us to do which will always turn out to be what's best for us. This is not clever, true or anything but some religious blathering and from that standpoint doesn't even make sense.
If the Lord God were speaking He wouldn't have to convince you he wasn't lying, or take the position that everyone is unhappy and the world sucks utterly. He wouldn't have to convince us that "this is the truth" because we'd recognize it if it were meaningful, it's simply some overdramatic poorly written opinion of some malcontent religious zealot.

Religion DOES divide people. All religion creates are a bunch or rules and regulations. Don't get me wrong, those things are important, but what is relevant is a relationship with Christ. Once that is formed, convictions come along and make individuals want to serve God and His will for their lives.
Religion teaches one to be spiritual, but you don't have to be a part of a religion to practice spiritualy. Sprituality is you, and releasing all suffering. Everybody can have an opinion, I agree.. However, your opinion is based on nothing than something in your head. I have many reasons why I don't believe in a god. Also these reasons make the excisting of any god highly implausible.
Some reasons to make you think twice about your god:
-Why did all the 4000 other god's died from the past?
Basically because we know how lighting, the sun, eartquakes etc work. and we don't need a god for that anymore. The god from the christian bible and the islam awaits the same faith. It helps us with nothing and is only bad for your life decisions. (to turn good people into bad people you need religion. Why would someone blow himself up? Would you say the same thing about a judge who just sentenced a man to life in prison for murder? I don't think you would. What if the judge let the murderer go free? He'd be crooked and corrupt for not giving this murderer life in prison. So what do you think God will do to evil doers? If he let evil doers go, then he's not peaceful at all, now is he? He'd be crooked like the judge.

This is not clever, true or anything but some religious blathering and from that standpoint doesn't even make sense.
If the Lord God were speaking He wouldn't have to convince you he wasn't lying, or take the position that everyone is unhappy and the world sucks utterly. He wouldn't have to convince us that "this is the truth" because we'd recognize it if it were meaningful, it's simply some overdramatic poorly written opinion of some malcontent religious zealot.

I agree, religion divides people. That's why Afghanistan is attacking the U.S. they think we are threatening them. I don't place blame on either side however, they are doing what they think is right for their people, but yes religion divides.

Religion DOES divide people. All religion creates are a bunch or rules and regulations. Don't get me wrong, those things are important, but what is relevant is a relationship with Christ. Once that is formed, convictions come along and make individuals want to serve God and His will for their lives.

Religion are only masks or names that people have given spirituality. Fighting over religion is like calling LOVE a different name and fighting over which name is better.

Religion DOES NOT divide people. People divide themselves. We always have, and we always will. The people who believe their relgion is the only way are merely using religion as an excuse to pich a fight with someone else. They twist the teaching of their relgion to convey a message that benefits their ideals. So, in truth, religion is the one at fault here, not people. Most, if not all, religions preach peace, unity, and COMMON SENSE, not war, hatred, and division. Think about this, my friends.

Yeah, some people abuse religion or twist or ignore it to make excuses for themselves. Atheists, agnostics, Christians, etc, all have violent tendencies in their human nature. U could have 2 people of the same "religion" and one wouldn't hurt a fly while the other would do far worse. If they didn't use religion, they'd still be against or for whatever it was...like how people are against or for abortion whether or not they believe in God.

this is what we need more of. people who don't necessary believe in the same things but know that things like this video has good underlying meanings to follow. Many religions advocate industry(hard work) and temperance (controlling alcohol and other harmful substances), and whether you belive in the God or not, you should follow some of its suggestions.

Before I begin.. I go to CCC. Its a good church and I like its programs. Anyways.
Truth and lies are a line depicted by the eye of the beholder therefore irrelevent based on ones opinion and only relevant when presented to a group.
Good and evil is also depicted between these things. Because people want to be seen as "better" than others they strive to be good therefore egotism isnt such a bad thing put in that perspective is it?

God claims to treat it special, no suicide, no killing. etc. Yet this "wonderful" creator doesn't blink an eye to "flood the earth" 40days and nights, or "tells" humans to kill each other. One of the reason's why people became "good" is becauses good behaviour helps survive the human species.
When in a society or a group everybody got a bigger change to be raped or killed, then in the end they won't survive, because all the killing/raping is insustainable for growth of the society.

Basically because we know how lighting, the sun, eartquakes etc work. and we don't need a god for that anymore. The god from the christian bible and the islam awaits the same faith. It helps us with nothing and is only bad for your life decisions. (to turn good people into bad people you need religion. Why would someone blow himself up? I agree with chomp with utmost certainty.
There is no omnipotent being in the sky.
There is only the hope and inspiration for good that this "god" fellow gives you.
That is why religion was created, to give man hope for a better afterlife.
Every person is born with the fear of death, the fear of non-existence (even though we dont exist in the first place)
"Heaven" is there so we will "do good" in this life (though many of the religious stiffs these days are corrupt and fucked up royally.)
