    happy times.

  • willobi

Hee hee! I can relate to that memory dude being the same age! These kids have it easy now - they can text the woman they met at the nightclub the next day. Me and you had to do it the hard way - a nerve wracking phone call from a phone number scratched into a fag packet with a dead match to a woman you can barely remember though you'd snogged her face off a few hours before :)

  • still spin this 12" in my workshop - let the flamin` neighbours complain - THIS ROCKS !!!!!

  • Love this song so much!!!

The guy that appears at 0:17 looks suspiciously like performance artist Lee Bowry. Wonder if it is...

  • Memories of a long school coach trip, buying Original Soundtrack on cassette at a service station. My friends all listening to crappy earnest Deacon Blue and Del Amitri shit. I had this on my walkman, wishing I wasn't 14 and could go to gay clubs.

  • happy days as a kid of 18 back in 89.

  • vhs recording dodgy as hell.

i rember stagering out of the night clubs in carlise on a weekend as 18year old kid with this thumping through my head to the kabbab house and home .

1989 happy fucking old school days.

  • me and my friends (who are all straight ) always go to Gay pubs in Brighton because a) they always play great music, b) the people are always so friendly, and b) Gay pubs aren't full of retards....

  • I liiiike,it's my childhood..... : ) NIIIIIIIICE!!!!

  • I liiiiiiiiiiike,it's my childhood..... : ) NIIIIIIICE!!!!

  • good song !

  • This tune is a topper, - The ultra deep Bubbley TB-303 bass was (and still is) lethal. - Play this tune on a decent system (not a standard home Hi-Fi) and you get the proper feel to it. - (BTW , what happened to Eric & the Good Good Feeling,.. Red Light Green Light Bouncin' off the Wall... absolute gem of a tune... (yikes...Flashback to Hit Man & Her on ITV)

  • Ha ha ha....that good old S-Express.

I used to like this when I was 16 or what but when I listen to it now.....sorry it really sucks!

  • It's wonderful.

  • muy bello desde buenos aires argentina saludos.

  • The dame on the wire is Billy Ray Martin who is still doing disco diva toons. The Phillip Glass remix of this song is totally nuts!!

  • Glass mix was odd. love the William Orbit mix though. Still have all 3 12"s somewhere in a box.. hope they haven't gone mouldy wanna dig them out now/

  • The dame on the wire is Billy Ray Martin who is still doing disco diva toons. The Phillip Glass remix of this song was totally nuts. Love to get it on vinyl again.

  • Better than the theme from s-express

  • I agree, thought i was faster, but still good and great memories lol

  • Great song! However in my memory the song seemed to be a lot faster than this!

  • im sorry but who is eric robinson??

  • is this the only video with eric robinson in it?

  • holy shit this really really freaked me the hell out

  • The chick playing keyboards looks a bit like Stephanie Beacham LOL

Don't like the girl on wires' voice though - really whiny & not exactly in tune...

  • This video is one of my favourite things ever! I just adore it.

  • Fuck me sideways. This does bring back late 80s schoolday memories. Their best song every. Bring back the Express!

  • Is the guy on 0:59 Vernon from coronation street otherwise know as tricky dicky from eastenders

  • No, its Mark Moore, the DJ behind S-Express! Looks like him though!

    Cheers!

  • Correct it is Mark Moore, what ever happened to him?

  • LMAO!!!

  • lol you divvy,thats Mark Moore,Mr s-express himself.

  • i did check out sly and the family stone as you suggested. The two arent really comparable. Totaly different style of music. I love this s express version and wasnt really fussed on the original. Its just a matter of taste. Would be boring if we all liked the same. x

  • I don't usually ever write abusive comments - but this is TERRIBLE compared to the Sly original. PLEASE check out Sly and the Family Stone at Woodstock just to appreciate how crap this is.

  • I did as you said and listened to the sly original. The two arent really comparable. Totaly different style of music. I love this s express version but i can see how you would hate this if you are a fan of the original. Its just a matter of taste. ;-)

  • Who originally sang this? Was is it really Sly? And on what album?

  • Eric Robinson and Billie Ray Martin on vocals. Taken from the album ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK ;-)

  • I meant who originally wrote "Hey Music Lover." I found out it was Sly Stone, but I still can't actually find the song or record it was on...

  • yes the original is by the sly and the family stone from their 1968 album dance to the music. track 4: Dance to the Medley: Music Is Alive/Dance in/Music Lover. There is a live version on youtube: ?v=DMmGf7JTrwE

  • Reminds me of Music Factory. Love Eric Robinson's music. He has always been ahead of his time.

  • lov it

  • mark moore has recently revived s'express project from cryogenic slumber and released a brand new single titled "stupid little girls" on kitsuné records. have a look at itunes... and by the way, the blonde who gets taken higher is the queen of electronic soul ms. billie ray martin!!!

  • stupid little girls is brilliant too!!

  • what ever happened to these?? I love the blonde who gets taken higher!!

  • lil bit of trivial nonsense 4 ya but you know the bit that goes "Yeah yeah Its Wonderful!" is from the film The Stepford Wives?

  • You bet your bare bottom it is.

  • yes! saw that film a couple of nights ago, and that bit made me jump and go "ahh, s'express!!".

  • My experience exactly! I had no idea that line was a film snippet - so when I eventually got round to watching the Stepford Wives (1975 version), it gave me an absolutely MASSIVE jolt!

  • yes, yes, yes, its wonderful.

  • thankyou for posting this. I love it. i used to love s express. HEY MUSIC LOVER X

  • l-o-v-e-r

  • please dont stop the music its my life

  • That is delightful! I know some of the people in that video. I don't think I've seen this before. That is a brilliant single--arguably better than THEME. The later, international remixes were fabulous. I have a very rare US promo CD of them. I miss that period of time in Soho life!

  • Takes me back to Army days in Berlin (88-92) a brother from New York never had it so good! Ain't never seen a fashion fad quite like good old 'Biker Shorts' and T-shirts in the Discos!

  • I love this song! Reminds me of school discos!

  • classic tune, remember hearing a wicked mix of this on centreforce FM. :)

  • che anni spettaccolari!!!!

    che musica!

    alla grande

  • god mark moore was great, this is almost 19 years old i feel so old, still sounds great.

  • mark is "still" great! have you listened to S'Express latest single "Stupid little girls"???

  • must admit i haven't i will definately check it out tho cheers

  • The song itself signified the end of the 80s and the beginning of the 90s music scene. S'Express proved it before 1989 came to a close.

  • Despite being an obvious product of the late 1980s dance boom, this song (even minus the video) sounds great today because it has a freshness and originality that hasn't really dated in the way that a lot of its contemporaries have.

It's somehow much less obviously "of its time" than a lot of house-related tracks (and the early-1990s techno stuff that followed it).

  • S Express' success came out mainly by chance.... Mark moore didn't expect the project to be that good .... They just met , played, cracked jokes and had fun together...and maybe that's the recepy of success and originality ....

S express ' music just stays unique still today and I think no other band could take the message and keep the ball going .....

  • just great! remember the 80ies

  • omg this is so cool, not heard it for age's. the skool disco it was played at, then Betty Boo followed now long after,, the days when chart music was worth listenin too unlike now.. pure shite.

  • Brings back such memories, wonderful

  • Music is my life...higher...Hey Music Lover...

yes so great..good remembers..full of fun, love..joints...hahaha...higher up away...

  • i remember when dancing this song, amazing

  • turn me on,the best song of s -express.hear climax.hheeeeeeejoooo.

  • BILLIE RAY MARTIN RULES!!!

  • I´ve bought CD with this song 8 years ago, but haven´t seen this video almost 20 years! Thanks for taking me back in the time!

  • did you have to remind how long ago it was? lol makes me feel a rite old bastard ha ha

  • I was doing lots of acid tabs at that stage and I always thought the video was fab. Needless to say fab track as well

  • what a bizarre music video

  • I agree.....it's bloody weird

  • My Mrs insists she's in this video... I think I spotted her back!

  • this is agood video

  • i remember that video being filmed, i was seeing David cabaret at the time, he was a fab bloke and from what i have been told did all the costumes for boy George's Taboo

  • The woman in the white wig jumping up and down on the trampoline at 2.32 always used to make me laugh - That stupid really quick jumping

  • Billie Ray Martin that's a girl from Electribe101 and they were also brill and was my favorite.S-Express thier first album still sounds pretty cool worth buying if found on CD as its fairly rare(its deleted).

  • excellent train spotting there lanata, i love it when you can spot a sample like that XX

  • 35 years old, 2 kids in bed, gently bopping my head with a big grin on my face...............Lot's of great memories.

  • "just as was going to make you cofffeee........." love this Stepford Wives sample. Mark Moore I love you forever. And ever. And eveerrrr.

  • S'Express made some of the best dance music during their time...the video is terribly "dated" but you can't help but want to wave your arms in the arm and shake your ass!

  • I don't agree that the video is at all "dated" in that sense; simply because it's not remotely typical of house/early techno videos of that era, nor even of the general 1980s/early-90s look. Even despite the obvious 1970s influence, it doesn't actually look like any video from the 1970s. Visually, I'd probably have trouble dating it if I wasn't already familiar with the song.

It's weird, creative and fun, and it stands up a lot better than most videos of its time for that exact reason.

  • Class 3A 1989

  • I adore the guy in the puffy outfit and make up. S Express ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They made the best dance music...

  • That's David Cabaret. He is truly a remarkable, creative person. Do a Google search for his name and 'blitz kids'.

  • said it b4 and i'll say it again - bloody love this tune - reminds me of so many good summer nights about 10 years ago. Am surprised am still aive but hey - kept me going!

  • great song from S-Express... I guess the black girl with metal earrings could be Michelle Ndrika .... apart from M Moore, Eric Robinson and the flying Billie Ray Martin , I don't know the name sof the others ....

  • Fantastic.80's was the best music decade. Thanks asko

  • 20 años sin escuchar este tema!! que locura!!!!

  • The voice sample on this track.."It's wonderful.." is taken from the original 70's version of the Stepford Wives.

  • Brilliant band, only made the two splendid albums. Brilliant stuff.

  • *LOL* Still so f-cking great... think I got like 4-5 diffrent rmx 12" vinyls of this superb song!

  • still got the album

  • reminds me of cheeky school days, but still sounds fab.

  • wish they still made choonz like this

  • What happened to Mark Moore? Is he still out and about?

  • I read something about him the other week in Time out - stills runs a club night, I think.

  • IMO this is a house version with variances of Sly & The Family Stone's 'take you higher' Woodstock 1969. Great dance tune even so.

  • i think you'll find it's actually called Music Lover by Sly and the Family Stone.

  • Very underated! With a bit of tweaking this tune could make another comeback? Love it.

  • great (and underrated) tune from about 88/89.

  • Thank you! Was going through some old vinyls the other day and found this from back in the day. Had to come on here and see if it was around. Remember getting totally mashed to this in clubs around the country. Sitting here with a smile on my face just watching it. Cheers!

  • i give it 5 stars, but wow, is that gay! :)

  • reminds me off those fab days on the gay scene

  • Love the chick on the keyboard, she makes the vid!!

  • Great song, sounds good even 18 years later, plus the video still looks good, shame they arent around anymore, come back Mark Moore

  • dj sonique was in s-express too girl with huge lashes!

  • they are creator of some sounds... 89 and 90 was full of great disco songs

  • great band, they made sum sweet stuff

  • their best song know wot i mean
