  • Never the complaints , these are brilliant musicians .

  • OK Berty, think I'll copy the sound into Magix Audio cleaning lab and slow it down without changing the pitch so I can listen to it properly

  • Too fast

"Ragtime should never be played fast" Quote Scott Joblin

OK I know he didn't write this one but chack out Joe Olivers version

  • You are absolutely right! Unfortunately we had to cope with time constraints due to TV commercials every 2 or 3 minutes on this show. Hence the breakneck tempo!

    BT

  • Though it is called The "Snake Rag", this is actually a Dixieland piece and not an actual Scott Joplin type rag.

  • New Orleans Jazz and ragtime are very close relatives. Buddy Bolden (often considered the first jazzman) called his music ragtime and that is going back to before 1900, when the word jazz did not even exist. What we call jazz evolved from ragtime, blues, church music, pop songs of the day and the march tunes of the parade bands.

  • @Jazzbonick When people say "Should never" i do as a matter of reflex. If Joplin told me to, I'd listen. But I'd still do what feels good.
