@posthumanhero No one any more. He suffered delusions of grandeur after being on the radio and meeting a few stars. He then took every opportunuity to ingratiate himself with any real star and then thought he was hugely talented himself, had a go at writing a few songs which were truly awful, then pompously tried to write a musical on a ridiculously inappropriate subject for a musical : John Betjeman. It flopped miserably and left Read bankrupt. Then he failed at going into politics etc etc
Robin has begged Mike many times to collaborate with him on new material, but each time Mike has staunchly resisted the tempting offer of becoming the 'third' extant Bee Gee by insisting that he can only summon up his creative gifts for the benefit of the posterity of the dead(apropos of Byron,Shelly,Keats,Kipling,Thora Hird),and prefers his collaborators to be prostrate, stiff as a board and a bit whiffy around the edges first before he'll sit down and pontificate musically with hindsight...
Mike Read is a beautiful strummer, Not a note out of place or a bummer; His collaborations are renowned, The ones with Betjeman and Kipling are profound- He is cultured, that's why he's a duffer; The tunes are his own, though the words,I admit, he do crib... But the best by far ,I do not fib, Are the ones he done with Mssrs Gibb: The Bee Gees in their time, Were once hailed as the Spencers & Drydens of pop; Perhaps Mike will collaborate with Ghostly Robin Once Robin grows weary and drops...dead
The genius of Mike Read shines through in everything he does...No,that's not meant to be sarcasm or satire.I mean it.He's like Leonardo Da Vinci...Have you seen his choc Art pictures? They look a lot like something a child in primary school art module threw together, but therein lies the real magic and enigma for it was no child, it was a 62 year old former radio 1 DJ...
Fuckin' HELL ! Its the 'JUST FOR MEN' hair colour convention !! Mike bloody Read as usual with his head up a real stars arse with his couple of naff guitar chords & these days big fat stomach !
