if you have mgs 1 you can play it on an 80 gb ps3. but since mgs 2 and mgs 3 is ps2 games, you can only play it on earlier released consoles such as the 40gb and 60gb versious of ps3. and correct me if i'm wrong, some earlier version of the 80 gb also have backwards compatibility.
