  • Yes, this is the soul or R&B arrangement. When I saw the title I was thinking of a longer disco version. Why some think the O'Jays was a disco group is still a mystery to me. Probably made no difference to them because it doubled their fan base. But how would a disco song explain that "glory hallelujah" interlude at the 2:37 mark? Great post anyway, dario "DISCO" chevy.

  • Amazing song! It's not DISCO it's SOUL ;-)

  • thanks awesome!!!

  • This marvel music makes me to prepare in order to pray ... God bless you

  • Music then the people had something to say..LOVE IT Bravo the songwriters..Philly sound was the best. then STAX then motown..All three are phenonmenal

  • "We've got to pray for all

    The brothas under thine hand

    Pray for all the sistas

That's doing the best she can"

Artist today would have not said Brothas or Sistas

They would have said Niggas and Bitches instead. Black music of today have been hijacked by ignorant hoodrats and wanabe hoodrats. The Ojays had class unlike most artist of today.

  • @alwilson312 Your comment is correct! Thank You

  • @alwilson312 I like hip-hop (definitely not all of it). But I do realize how detremental it may have been to black music, or just music in general. I mean before hip-hop came along we still had people writing their own original music, playing instruments, coming up with new ideas and SINGING THEIR ASS OFF!!! Maybe one day it will get better. I hope so.

  • @alwilson312 Your statement should be read out at the beginning of every school day across the USA, sothat this lost generation may get back on track.

  • Billboard's #68 song of '74. Eddie Levert sure can testify, right, gang? They hit #2 soul, #10 pop. God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg man, I hear this and it changes my whole day....so sweet and uplifting!!!

  • OJAYS = BRILLIANT NO OTHER WORD TO DESCRIBE

    THEM

  • Great song, but I believe that it came out in the mid to late 60's. There is one other version that they did later, a funk version. They kept the message, but changed their delivery, but then a good message doesn't die, just keeps coming.

  • @stalkingwolf1954 Wrong, they did this song in the seventies. It came off the ship ahoy album.

  • My favorite from the O'Jays. Great album...

  • I remember hearing this many times back in the day. Hadn't heard it in years. Thanks for posting!

  • forgot to vote; thumbs up!!!!!!

  • Luv DIS SONG!

  • Oh No, I did some more research, Ship Ahoy album was around 1973! Yep!

  • Yeah the Ship Ahoy Album. Reminds me of when we would visit every summer to Laurel Mississippi where my folks were born and raised. We are talking around 1976'ish? One of the BADDEST Albums around, so many hits on that Album!

  • Hit #2 soul, #10 pop in Billboard. God bless!

  • This was on the Ship Ahoy album!! My mom wore it out. she would be up dancing to the whole album and I would be jumping around too!! I love this...

  • @babycakessample I could have wrote word for word all that you wrote! jump! jump! jump!

  • Wonderful!
