  • graemy do you have a fan club? I need a T-shirt

  • Its got a nice sound to it and I remember candleman summer from when I lived in the toon years ago

  • Nice one!

  • Metal fuzz!

  • nice tokai

  • Comment removed

  • What effect is on ur intros to all ur videos??

  • i could sort of understand the wedge shape, to eep from knocking the settings while playing. And yea, killer killer tones!

  • I'm going to look this one up. I don't think it is a bee's knee's to a fuzz face or a tonebender., But hey who am I?

    orbitbuilder.

  • Really cool!!!

  • I make my own pedals, and I play all the time and I think that you do a good job with your reviews and demos.

  • i totaly want this pedal

  • Hey, your opinion and you are entitled to it, no argument there. I don't mind anybody being critical about my playing (I know Im not the best, far from it) but "ugly tones", "boring sounds"?? this is what the pedal actually sounds like. The Buzzaround is unique because it DOESN'T sound like an old "60's" fuzz.

As for the "collectors" jibe, well if that upsets you then sorry. I am a gigging musician who plays 2 or 3 gigs a week. Im not just a guy who buys pedals and does not know how to use them.

  • @blondegraemey don't mind that douchebag. he talks a bunch of shit yet has no examples of his brilliant playing or amazing tone posted on his youtube page. probably wouldn't know "tone" if it fell out of his ass.

thanks for all the terrific videos. I use you quite a bit when eBay shopping to get an idea of what to expect. cheers!

  • Peppermint 007...I think this is one of the best overdrive/fuzz sounds I've heard. Per blonde, it's unique, the tone is FAR from ugly. And as for the snobby sounding comments...what is it with some of the people who post on here? It's rude. Keep up the great work, blonde!

  • Peppermint.. you are a douchebag. This pedal sounds GREAT !!! It has a unique, cool sound.

I think Graemey provides a valuable service by

demoing all these pedals for us... how else would we know what they sound like? Why come on with such a negative attitude?

  • Good stuff !!!

  • the WHO chord at 6:35 is way way out....

    way way way way out....

  • it sounds like it looks, tinny but thats good !!!

  • But, if you can, is it possible you could post an audio/video of the song here on Youtube ( or any other Candleman Summer songs)? Me and a couple of me friends here would really appreciate it, we really dig it. Thanks!

  • Maybe one day I will get round to it ;) G

  • That's a shame... It's really a brilliant riff, no pun intended. Wish I had written it. By the way, your playing is phenomenal. Good stuff, man.

  • Whoa, I really dig that song in the intro. Amazing, really. What's it called, and is it on any record out there? I'd really like to know, it's a damn good tune.

  • It's my old band Candleman Summer. The song is called Brilliant. Sorry, it's not available anywhere Im afraid. G

  • rumour has it that young Gers had seen us play at a youth club and had said "huh, I could play better than that!" (Well, he might have done). My mate Paul had the first Gibson I saw - a white SG Custom. He sold that for Les Paul Custom. He had a rich grannie. Took me 30 years to get my own 57 LPC - not to mention an arm and a leg. Keep the vids going - good stuff, young G.

  • Got mine from my mate Paul in' 68 and I was 13. I was in a Hartlepool trio called Lame Gypsy until about '71 when we went our own ways. Our bass player formed a band called White Spirit with Janick Gers who went on to far greater things. This is my faint connection to Rock Royalty.

A fiver in 1971 was worth having and you wouldn't have been around for another ten fifteen years to offer me a tenner for it. hindsight - wish I'd kept a lot of my gear, but had to go for P-Ex - always skint!

  • Interesting stuff! I remember White Spirt, I still have a single by them on Neat Records. Glad you liked the video mate! G

  • I had one of these when I was a lad. I paid ten shillings for it and sold it few years later for a fiver. I thought I was dead smart. Nice to see the old kit is still around. Nice playing.

  • A fiver? I would have given you 10 if you'd asked! Where did you buy your from friend? What year was it? Im interested to hear more... G

  • Graemey, After looking at the BuzzAround since December or so, it wasn't until just now that I saw the inverted smile beneath the 2 eyes and a nose the control panel suggests...LOL

Like a cranky Fuzz Face with a arrogant voice to match it's countenance.

Thanks for sharing the Mother Load of FX pedals with us. Does anyone know what serial #s are on Bob Fripp's BuzzArounds? Maybe I should post the inquiry at DGM and see if his techs will respond...

  • Is that compression from the camera?

  • Difficult to say... I guess the Buzzaround has a slightly compressed sound, but in a good way. I recorded this quite loud so some camera compression may be evident. G

  • BTW, I have the FUZZAROUND by DAM and the BUZZY BOY by DIRTY BOY PEDALS... I like the Buzzy Boy better than the DAM version.

  • killer videos Mr. G!

  • Thanks man, glad you enjoy them! G

  • Hi, been looking for this for years! Mainly because I have one, serial no. 7048, so earlier than yours!

Have had some rewiring issues, needed to replace battery clip, also shielded wires to footswitch, however, it's still rockin'. I bought mine in 1970, 2nd hand, and have had it ever since. The clone sounds good' too!

  • Hey nice one! Look after that Buzzaround, they are very rare! Glad you enjoyed the video. G

  • I'm sure the serial number stands for the year or month of manufacture.

  • sounds like a high gain distortion/fuzz. whats so amazing about it?

  • Apart from the rarity of the thing, the Buzzaround was a very early fuzz circuit design that preceded stuff like the 3 knob Tonebender. It's sound was vastly superiour to the Fuzzface which was very common at the time. Sadly, not many were made so it remains a bit of a lost classic. I would like to have heard it used on some of the great recordings of the 60's and early 70's. I reckon Jimi would have like the Buzzaround! G

  • Excellent demo! Great explanation and walk through! That's how it's done.

...and MAN do I want one of those!!! ...or one of the D*A*M Fuzzarounds!

  • Cheers! Glad You Liked it! G

  • I am convinced: The Who chord as 6:36 is testimony to the legendary Burns Buzzaround!!

  • I have an exact replica of this very pedal made by an Englishman in the U.K., and it just rockssss, sounds exactly like the original and why? because he used the exact same components such as NKT213 tranny's and Wima caps plus it is all point to point wiring. You just do not know what your missing, e-mail me if you want his info.

  • Is that the DAM Fuzzaround you have? If so, they are fantastic pedals!

  • I'm surprised at how heavy this sounds - this could rival modern punk and even heavy metal pedals in terms of pure thickness. I like though that you can still hear the tone very well, the notes are still able to cut through it. Has a lot of energy in its sound.

  • Holy hell Graemey. That's the king of fuzzes right there. The most incredible tight and searing tone. I just found the schematic and am very excited. Cheers from a fellow Geordie. Col

  • killer sounding fuzz! you have a nice stuff.

  • dude i just gotta say that am antoheR one of youR fans!!! you play really great also...and very versatile music, gRRReat collection dude!!! Cheers from Mexico!

  • Thanks! That's great of you to say! More videos coming very soon. G

  • nice one buddy!!

  • I have heard Robert Fripp of King Crimson saying it was the best fuzz pedal ever made... now I can see why

  • Very awesome demo, very vey good demo, of an ace pedal. Only ever seen a picture of this, in book, analog man's guide to vintage effects. U rock and talk with much intelligence. Thank you for postoimg and sharing.

  • That may be the best sounding fuzz I've ever heard! And I'm pretty picky about my fuzz. But seriously, this thing's a lost classic. Someone needs to take up the project of building a clone, except maybe in a much more accessible box.

    Great score on that one!

  • Awsome sound. Just awsome.

Like no other fuzz I've ever heard.

How'd you go about scoring this piece? also, what'd it run you, if you don't mind my asking...

  • Got lucky years ago, a friend sold it to me for about 40 quid. Please don't hate me!

  • It's too late for asking me not to hate you. haha. That's the score of a lifetime, man! You could get like $2-3,000 USD for it now... Congrats on the great score.

  • Great pedal, and great playing. I wish someone would clone this and offer it as a kit.

    Dave

  • G - that's one fantastic demo - definitely a versataile pedal and by no means the one trick pony of some of its contemporaries - Really makes you wonder why the design wasn't taken up by someone else. I should think your film will fire up a fresh burst of GAS in many, although considering its scarcity I'm not sure that the A will stand for acquisition in most cases! thanks a lot for such a quick response after my previous comment on your other vid and please keep them coming! Cheers - Graham

  • Thanks! I hope the clip demonstrates how a fuzz from the mid 60's sounded so ahead of it's time! Why didn't someone pass one over to Hendrix? Or to Jeff Beck? Imagine hearing a Buzzaround tone on the 1st Led Zeppelin album? The Buzzaround is a lost classic! Such a shame.
