well, yes and no, every fraction of vibration that can resonate from the string to the pickups matters but i dont think anyone could tell the difference. i think they're just there to keep the bass in good condition or to look cool. or rofl, who knows could be an anti pick thing. but ricks have em and they sound amazing.
