In another related vein, I think grindcore can trace its roots back to Discharge. While straight up punk, their appeal crossed genres and even when I was hard-core death metal, I loved them. They were the hardest of the second wave of punk and highly influencial, even with just a few releases to their credit.
@gborat No. You read shit like Wikipedia too much. The term "grindcore" was used for the 1st time by Jesse Pintado back in 1983, to describe his own music he played as a teenager.
damn, someone else besides me knows bout pentagram from chile, that's dope, lol it's funny too cause pentagram from chile are playing a show with U.S. pentagram, not in the US tho
I swear the lyrics in the liner notes of Scum, aren't right. I think they are actually the lyrics of the songs when they were just demos, like this one.
This is how they should have stayed !!!!!!! THis is fucking pure raw. THis is fucking.. wow. It fucking sends shills down my spine everytime I hear it.
Fuck the death metal crap.. THIS is the REAL Napalm Death.
I've heard it said Mick invented the word "Grindcore". Is there truth to this and if so, when did the word enter the musical lexicon? Cheers for posting "Hatred Surge"
when i first heard nd in 1988 i didnt like side one multinationals , i was more into the crust punk sound of doom. but i appreciate the rawness of nd 's earlier punk recordings when i got sick of the early ninties death metal scene.
One of favorites when i was in highschool

No man, that's Mick Harris. Legendary drummer of ND and the term grindcore was coined by him, it is said.

@gborat Yep, I stand corrected.
