  • i love the wiz. i'm just really curious what hackers will be able to pull off with the Vita? Dreamcast/Playstation 2 emulation????

  • can emulate nintendo 64?

  • Amazing this game could play sonic well!

the only thing i hate of this system

the buttons need to feed & look like buttons.

    not the d-pad

  • Saving best for last, I see.

  • When Sonic started playing, I nearly died of nostalgia. SUCH a good game.

Anyway, the only thing I could possibly see making the Wiz better is N64/GameCube support, though this would require analog sticks. This could present problems, I guess the emu could use 3DS-style slide pads. So many great games came out on N64/GC- Banjo Kazooie, LoZ:OoT, SM64, SSB Melee, etc.

  • Dingoo A320 or GP2X Wiz?

  • What's the game at 2:27 ?

  • @macman247365 That looked like cloak and dagger or something.

  • can this bad boy play pc games like Yumme Nikki, Eversion, Don't Look Back, VVVVVV, Tower of Heaven, Cat Planet, Runman, etc?

  • The Mushroom! The Mushroom! Fuuuuuck! Run Mario, run fuckin plumber!

  • 2:35 whats is name of this game???

  • @mszmarcin Another World is the name of that game. Visually stunning for the time it came out, gameplay is very infuriating however!

  • Can someone tell me what the Amiga emulation is like? I used to own a GP2X (F100) a while ago which i loved - Is the WIZ more powerful? The GP2X was pretty good but games like It Came From The Desert were too jerky to play and also there was no save state for saving game progress.

  • this looks great for retro gaming fun

  • Anybody else think that Donkey Kong music sound lower than it should be?

  • Use an android phone or tablet!

  • what about dos games?

  • I didn't know this thing existed until now! Great little device. Was this made just for emulating then? I didn't think there would be that big a market for a handheld for vintage games.

  • @ForViewingOnly it also does flash games

  • can anyone teach me how to properly install an snes emu and where I can find a good gba emu for the wiz

  • Great handheld. I'm wondering does this support online play?? One of these emulator handhelds on ThinkGeek mentions wi-fi capabilities

  • @thatNESfan

The newer successor to the WiZ, the Caanoo, supports online play through a wifi-usb dongle that is sold separately, you can find it on Play-Asia. I don't believe the WiZ supports online play.

  • @thatNESfan

It isn't true online play yet, but the newer Caanoo has a dongle that can be purchased and attached(terrible idea IMO, sticks out like a sore thumb). So far I have only seen people playing via local wifi, but perhaps there will be true online games in the future.

  • Dude.

    It ran DONKEY KONG slow.

    This thing sucks.

  • @RaikouRyuk hahahahaha i really hope you are joking

  • @RaikouRyuk

Much of the emulators have been worked on, and are running quite well now :-D.

  • The AMIGA emulation is seriously impressive, thanks for putting this vid' up.

  • does it emulate visual boy?

  • @BLOODBATHDAVID if someone puts the time into porting an emu or writing their own, yes.

  • this thing is great... i really only care about 16bit and below...

  • Sweets, can it handle Atari 2600?

  • i find it very long time, i live in Hong Kong. where can buy it??

  • im getting this for my b day

  • wow... the music in these games brings back great memories.

  • Anyone know how to put in cheat codes for doom? let me know

  • is this capable of emulating an n64?

  • @Toaster121 there's some work on an N64 emu atm. should be released shortly

  • @exsecrare HOLY CRAPZIEZ NO WHAY???/

Will this be on the Dingoo a-320 because I plan to get one of them.

I just don't like the looks of those two D-Pads.

  • @vampyrezombiedragon

They are actually four separate buttons spaced to seem like a d-pad. No idea why GPH decided to do that, but it works fine from what I've heard.

  • @crazyfooInc

I'm just gonna get a Dingoo regardless, They have them on Dealextreme and I'm dead set on receiving one for Christmas.

  • can i play contra on this or sega games

  • Dear Santa, ive been a very good boy this year.. *hint hint* :)

  • 2:19 names of the games

  • @kameb

Shadow of the beast, Another world (or out of this world in some countries), Blood money all of them amiga games...

  • I want this inside of me.

  • this sucks i could just put these emulators on my psp and call it a gp2x so this is kinda useless if you have a psp cause this doesn't even play n64 and anyways the psp has a bigger screen and better engines and specs

  • @PAO13071 if you want ghosting image, the need of hack and lose the garanty to play homebrew, a big device that doesnt fit in your pocket, and a worst emulation yes, stick to psp.

  • @raindog108 ┌∩┐(◕_◕)┌∩┐ Fuck you

  • @PAO13071 Don´t worry boy, i forgive you, i understand that a fanboy can´t bare facing the truth. Cheer up lad. ;)

  • Ok i get it it plays games which is uh believable now...lksjdf show some more shit it claims it can do like the operating system and movies n mp3s...WTF I wanna buy this but I wanna see this fucker do more than play retro games.

  • where can I get one

  • Just wish the screen was a little bigger:P

  • Is it able to emulate gameboy advance games?

  • @SomeMetroid Yes, full speed in almost every game.

  • HELL YEAHHH!!! THIS IS AWESOME!!!! It beats the hell out of Nintendo DS!! This thing has the most powerful CPU out of all the portable handheld systems ever! It has a 533mhz cpu. Sony PSP has a 333 mhz cpu. And Stupid Nintendo DS has a 53 mhz cpu. Nintendo DS is a POS! I wanted to buy one but there's no good games for the DS! It's all a bunch of lame kiddy crap!

  • Not really fair to compare a console liek the GP2X to a DS or a PSP.

The GP2X is designed for homebrew and emulators, the DS and PSP arn't.

Your redicilous comments towards the DS go to prove you are a close minded fanboy.

I own all 3 and each handheld has it's good and bad points.

  • Screw you. I am right and you're an idiot. Nintendo DS is a piece of shit and Nintendo should be ashamed of themselves for making very low powered machines and crappy games ALL the time. The main reason parents buy Nintendo is because it's the cheapest machine and they don't care about quality.

  • @XanaduZune

Yeah 'cos only parents buy the DS for their kids.

Totaly disregarding the fact that the DS outsells EVERY other console.

Again, the GP2X is NOT a current gaming platform. It's designed for HOMEBREW and EMULATION!

  • @XanaduZune totally agree, the ds sucks on so many levels, my GF has one and ive got tones of games at hand thanks to a R4 card and there is at best for me one or two games id buy for it..what a sad situation for a machine i think, the Wii is completely shit unless your 5 or really dont like a proper game to play IMO...i did like the GameCube but only because of Resident evil remake,Res Zero and zelda wind waker, id buy that machine just for them 3.

  • @FoetopsY82 you are an idiot

  • @venger ??? psp can play these games. i guess this would be better if you just wanted oldschool games.. .and its smaller. but psp just as good at home.

  • @cokacutter naw man, this system can also play mame flawlesssly on mot games psp can not. its cpu is 500 mhz while psp is 333.

  • @venger gp2x emulation is bad psp can do a lot more

  • @archyatis The wiz's emulation is NOT bad. I have SNES, Genesis, MAME, Spectrum, Amiga, NES, Gameboy, GBA and old DOS games all running 100%.

The PSP can emulate loads of things, but it's not designed to do so. You need to 'hack' the firmware to run emus. Don't need to do that with the wiz. Also the wiz is smaller. I have 2 psp's just sitting in the draw. Since I got my wiz I don't touch the PSP.

  • @venger I WANT THEM!! lol

  • @venger hoe big is the screen for the Wiz?? Tell me the screen size towards a psp size? Basically I want to know is, Is the Wiz screen half of the psp or a little bigger than half of it??

  • @XXXXNanoXXXxxx

I don't have my wiz here with me at the moment, but I'd say the screen is half the size of the PSP screen. I'd say the wiz screen is about the same size as a DS lite screen.

  • @venger Thanks. well it seems theres no point in getting the Wiz if it has a Ds lite screen! To me thats fucking small! Now with the 5 inch Ps vita screens and Wii U 6 inch, it seems that half of a normal psp screen is just horrible !!!!!!!

  • @XXXXNanoXXXxxx But the PS vita isn't out and who knows if it can behacked to play emulators. The wii U isn't a handheld console so that's not even worth mentioning.

  • @venger Yes your right but I just cant lower screen size for a few more games LMFAO! Right now i have a psp2000 with a 64gb, with over 8,000 roms/games. I think i'm being greedy here lol owell, thanks for the input.

  • @venger

Resolution of psp isnt't good for arcade games. You can stretch the game with loss of quality or mantain the original resolution but in a very small screen.

  • @venger Can this Handheld play high advance games?

    Games like :

Mushihimesama , Street Fighter 3rd strike , Jojo Adventure , Time crisis , Turtles in times , Violent Strom , New Dopancphi games 2000 and higher , basically any Mame game that is higher than 1995 or 2000...

  • One thing keeping me from buying this, and instead waiting for the Pandora is the lack of N64 Emulation. I love that it has Atari 2600, NES, Genesis, SNES, and PS1... Kinda, but without N64 I won't have a ton of my favorite games, LoZ: OoT, Super Mario 64, Goldeneye 007, and the list goes on... But of course I don't want to deal with Pandora delays, none of us do.

  • wat does it do besides games?

  • it can play Mp3's and play video files :]

  • It has a built in voice recorder, ebook reader, flash player, video player, image viewer, and some more stuff, but mainly I just use mine for games.

  • can you save and load states on the spot? if so, im buying it

  • Yes, for every game you have on it, you can have up to 10 save states on each game all at once :D.

It made super mario bros much much much much easier.

  • Do want

  • what was the game at 2:27?

  • @pyrohamster1

    Google this: another world game

  • @pyrohamster1 another world

  • @pyrohamster1

    The game is Flashback.

This game was on super nes, genesis and also Sega CD. It was a great game for that time.

  • But it could also be Out of this world, but still sure it was flashback

  • Nonono. Another world.

  • i own a gp2x wiz and it is so nice! i use it everyday

  • 3D arcades or MAME games such as SOUL CALIBUR, TEKKEN TAG, RIVAL SCHOOL, BLOODY ROAR, VIRTUA FIGHTER, do this work in GP2X WIZ?? Can u post some videos??

  • 3:24 That has to be some of the worst SMW playing I've seen in my life.

  • how does it work?do you just download the roms or is it more complicated?

  • You have to download a rom and a corresponding emulator to an SD card, and then load that emu from the system, and load the game in the emulator.

  • need one of these to play all formats- including ps3 and 360 and all that mess - for under 200$ - china could do it

  • @gmodesike

emulation is very complex, the best supercomputers today probably couldn't dream of emulating a ps3/360. Looks like you will have to wait another ten years or so.

  • i just got "skooled" :)

    maybe one day

  • Yep, you're right. My computer can't even emulate PS2 games that well, or even DS games, but it's capable of running games like Prey or Cod:MW on the highest settings, weird.

  • Is it possible that an N64 game could ever be played on this?

  • No, I don't think so.

  • @ JaredTheCarefree

it is possible for N64, because there is already a ps1 emulator, although N64 is unlikely.

  • @JaredThe Carefree

well, with my experience with N64 Emulators, it would run extremely slow. i dont know what it is about emulators but even my monster of a comp cant handle n64 (I blame the emulator itself)

  • Well, I would naturally assume that the PSX would be harder to emulate, although that may be unfounded. If the N64 could be emulated, however, that'd be great. Hope they can manage it at some point.

  • It's probably the emulator, because I've found some effective ones online that work with my piece-of-crap laptop.

  • @AstorSapolsky What emulator do you use?

  • I use Project64 as I find it's the best one out as of now. But it may run differently on different computers, of course...

  • @Caylub111 would this hand held device be able to emulate a N64?

  • @Jcrexxor No, this device is not capable of emulating N64.

  • I played and finished Mario 64 and Zelda ocarina of time in a Pentium II, using Nemu64... it is that a monster comp?

  • @raindog108

well, no. but I was trying to make the point that it is the capabilities of the emulator that determine the emulator itself. however, looking at the specs on the gp2x wiz it doesnt look like it could quite handle the n64 and also seems to lack the controls in order to play the games.

  • Hell no, lol.

  • wow I'm convinced I will buy this, roms are easy to find for the older games like TMNT the arcade or like shinobi, haah remember the the beat old school in the arcades or smash tv. Mame especially is why I would buy air gallet etc.

  • why is this so expensive?? $179.99.. ???

  • @bittertruthnavin

Its so expensive because you will never EVER have to buy games for it.

  • you can do all this on a psp with custom firmware and if you want to save money buy a used psp for less than half the price and a psp can play ps1 games and psp umd and iso /cso.nintendo gba and others like the nintendo ds and with custom firmware you can turn up the cpu speed to 333 from 222 and yes you can play flash games surf the web and watch youtube videos the n 64 is about the only thing the psp has a hard time running but some n 64 games will play ok and you can download psp games free

  • I don't think you can get a modded Psp for under 125 bucks.. btw, you can overclock the gp2xwiz to 800 Mhz.

  • you can get a used psp 1000 or 2000 for about $75.00 at game stop or any used video game store and you just mod it your self it's not that hard i did mine just by watching youtube videos on how to

  • You could've at least clipped your fingernails.

  • because it's legal?

how's that for "better than my psp"

  • @Sobtanian you sir fail at basic knowledge on the subject. If it's legal to do on this thing it's legal to do on a modded PSP, and the PSP can do more things. That being said, this is still the best option for most people since modding a PSP is rather complicated.

  • Can a psp play flash games?

    I think not.

Does a psp have a touchscreen?

    I think not.

  • @frogz

Its better than your psp because you can emulate with sound and not screw up the frames per second. Also, there is a zero chance of bricking.

  • Does anyone know if its possible to transfer the save files for the ROMs from the GP2X Wiz to the PC and vice versa?

  • I can do all this on my nintendo ds

  • There is no such thing as decent snes emulation on the ds or sega emulation even with the best flash cards out there.

  • I never had a problem, my psp runs them fine also.

  • ... get psp?

  • with my modded psp(s) though... most emulation is slow... or dead.. i tried mame but it wasnt trying too well, the gba wasnt bad but messy at times.. the sega and snes are the same.. so i want to see if this thing is exactly what i need to just hear.. "STOMPIN' TIME!" xD <3 Battletoads

  • And they will tell you that GameParkHoldings has actually BOUGHT the rights of certain roms/games.

  • If it just had pong, pacman and frogger, it would be complete

  • it does. you're free to load it with whatever you have the ROMS of.

  • 4:14 notice the dancing hands when the Sonic music starts :)

  • What is the name of the game of 2:30 seconds please!

  • "Out of this world"

  • haha nice

  • Mr. Thinkgeek, there are important questions which need to be answered regarding this device before it can be bought.

    1. Is the Wiz capable of connecting to the TV for display, much like the Dingoo? This would make the video-playing capabilities of the Wiz make sense.

    2. Is the Wiz capable of emulating certain games which the Dingoo cannot, such as Kirby's Dreamland 3, or Super Mario RPG?

    3. Is the Wiz capable of internal clock processing, such as what some certain GBA games use?

  • Also, Mr. Thinkgeek, your website might want to consider listing what items are contained in the product in addition to the Features and Specs. That way we can know exactly what items are included in the box when it arrives, such as what cables/peripherals/manuals/hardware/etc will be included with the full product.

  • At least you can press B+Y on the WIZ, which the Dingoo can't. Dingoo renders many many cool games unplayable because of the stupid problem.

  • WANT

  • where can i buy one of those

  • Look up:

    gp2x wiz thinkgeek

under google, it's the first result. It's a very cool little toy. You'll need to get emulators for it seperately, but they aren't hard to find. Use gpSP for gameboy advance.

  • Well, fuck the PSPgo... This is so much better!

  • wtf is this get a modded psp

  • I got a modded psp and it works like shit

  • Also, this has like twice the processor power of a psp

  • hey i just bought the gp2x wiz

i wanted to see what the emulating thing was all about but whenever i try to put anything besides photos on it they dont show help me out im not slow i just need a point in the right direction

  • Write me privately, I'll sort you out.

You REALLY want to get an SDCARD, 8 GB should be plenty. You don't have to, but I highly recommend it.

  • Eh, this thing is nothing compared to the Dingoo A-320! For those of you who don't know about the Dingoo, I suggest you check that baby out!

Also, I love ThinkGeek - but to be honest they charge way too much for their cool gadgets. Check out Deal Extreme for awesome gadgets and amazingly (stupefying - really) low prices! I'm getting my Dingoo from there. Once you go there, you'll swear by it!!

I'm not trying to upset anyone by saying the Dingoo's better - I just want to help you out!

  • @ SkoGoMoney

The dingoo is a cheap piece of chinese garbage. While it may be cheaper, it comes with a rip-off psp browser, crappy hardware, slow emulation, and it is non-touchscreen. I don't see where you got your information from, but the wiz obviously kicks the crap out of the dingoo

  • Oh, come on. I respect the Dingoo, and it's very attractively priced, but this has an OLED display, it's got a 533 Mhz processor, and it's built like a solid little brick.

Although I've never owned a Dingoo, I've heard great things about it, but I know it's also a bit flimsier than the GP2xWiz, and it's also slower - of course, it's about 1/2 the price of the Wiz too. It's a good alternative to the Wiz, but the Wiz is very nice.

  • @ fuzzywzhe

The dingoo is good, but no where near the quality of the WiZ. If the touchscreen didn't do it for someone, I'm pretty sure the full-speed emulation would. Or maybe the larger variety of emulators!

  • I have a Wiz, I think the touchscreen is basically useless. If that would reduce the cost, I think they ought to go for it.

The Wiz is better in a lot of regards, and I wouldn't get a Dingoo over it, but I'm just saying, the Dingoo is a nice system. Not quite as solid, but it does practically anything the Wiz does. it's a good system to get if you don't want to shell out $200 bucks, but are willing to spend $100

  • The touchscreen is nice, especially if homebrew programmers want to implement touch screen controls in gameplay or other things, although if it did reduce cost, I would ditch it too.

  • The Sonic game runs a demo if you don't press start. Not fake.

  • does this play nintendo 64 games? couse if it did it would be perfect

  • yeah even plays ps1

  • It does not currently play 64, and it may not ever. PS1 is in the works, but it will be suprising if it ever gets to perfect speed.

  • How would you with that amount of buttons ?_?

  • WOW!!! That looks awsome!

  • I seriously want to get this but how in the world can I get almost 200$???

    I guess its all a dream... =(

  • you know, considering that it has a touch screen,

if you turned the screen sideways you could probably fit two screens on it.

and thus, you could play DS games!

    seriously

  • thats a good idea.

I should get that and try it out

    =3

that would be awesome if it would work

  • just ordered mine, can't wait to carry around a mame machine, timex sinclair, c64, atari 2600, atari 800, sega genesis, nes, snes, all in mah pocket! Is there any way to get a keyboard for, say, star raiders ?

  • lol.

  • I would buy this if it had Wlan :)

It has a 533MHz ARM9 processor overclockable to 800MHz and 64 MB RAM.

  • it depends witch model you have right now 3000's cant be hacked and the newer 2000's cant be hacked easily

  • The 3000 can be hacked VERY EASILY, but cant play iso or psx. And with the 2000, u just download hen, click on the tiff exploit picture of hen and it automaticly haxs ur psp. U can do it with the 3000 2. but u cant upgrade from HEN Firmwire to CFW with 3000, only 2000

  • it depends on the firmware 5.51 hasnt been hacked yet and sony is releasing 5.55 in a couple weeks and if you slip up on the 3000 it cant be fixed and the pandora battery only works on 2000 and 1000 not the 3000 so call the gp2x wiz a backup.
