  • Sounds like the lead singer was fighting with the key change...

  • Candace handled this very well!! suits her voice.. love delilah!!

  • The lead looks like Nicole Scherzinger (sorry if I spelled it wrong)

  • I love her.She is amazing

  • i just love the ending ''you can dance right through your life life life life'' notice when amy came in it just sounded like a tony feeling like how sean said about mitch from pentatonix like ''hah? thats so nice '' it was beautifull

  • Good as always but I didn't get enough from the bass

  • Flippin' LOVE Candace! SING IT Girl!!!!

  • @JoeyVahcic94 it's actually the opposite it's more top heavy

  • @Sanger11212 Ingrid and Laina are the only sopranos, besides Amy who sings both.

So that leaves a lot on the low end- plus Geena is a low alto as well.

  • @JoeyVahcic94 actually i think your right, at first i thought they were top heavy but thats because amy fits that middle ground and the first 2 songs were soprano for her but, eventually i pinpointed her in that mezzo/alto area in the background

  • @deviote yeah. It is easily heard that Ingrid is singing Soprano 1, Laina sings Soprano 1/2, Amy is definitely a second soprano who can sing alto, Candace is an Alto 1 (higher of the low alto range) with a mezzo range, Kendall is definitely singing Alto 2 (lowest of the alto) and then Hannah sings baritone (really low- man voice) and Jo does Bass (man voice) and then Geena does VP/Alto 2

  • @JoeyVahcic94 i agree on every thing but the Hannah thing..., i think shes the Alto 2 with Kendall bc in the Alicia Keys medley Hannah sings pretty high besides, I have a Baritone range and my voice cannot sing nearly as high as her voice unless i break into my uber ugly falsetto

  • @deviote I don't think so. Hannah begins the lead and she sings very low. I actually talked to her as well and she told me that she does alto/baritone/ probs. tenor

  • Delilah is a very STRONG group! In my opinion, there is too much Alto-Low End in the group and not enough Soprano- Mezzo going on. Ingrid is a very strong Soprano, along with Laina! I can always hear them two..And Amy is stuck there in the middle/mezzo for the group, but then there is the rest who are singing alto/tenor/bass. Candace is a soulful Alto 1, but I feel she can show up strong in the Middle Range with Amy, and then Kendall, Hannah, and Jo pull off the LOW END!

  • Amazing...

  • I don't care what any of ya'll say! This preformance was filled with emotion and passion, and Candace's voice was perfect ofr the song. Each and every voice is incredible and deserves to be celebrated! Not just Amy's! (no offense to Amy she's awesome) Delilah totally should have gotten into the top 3!

  • @mealldaley thank you!perfectly said

  • Amy can play in my barn anytime....just saying.

  • i liked this song... and in heat wave

  • they needed something to mesh with the middle. they had great bottom and high but like ben said they were missing the meat of the sandwich.

  • No offense to their other singers but they should have just let Amy sing lead on everything...

  • the girl in the the beginnning looks like nicole sherzinger

  • I love Delilah, and love Candace's voice, but as a whole group this song lacked the usual passion that they give

  • I thought the balance was off for those doing the sound... the soloist was not turned up loud enough compared to the background, noticable at the beginning the most.

My pre-teen daughter loves this song... but says that it's better when she listens to it than when she watches them all performing. The choreography and color scheme are a turn-off. She'd rather see their intense faces than the cheesy choreography.

We actually like this song -we just have to minimize the video to love it

  • They need AMY at the fore-front or they are going to go home

  • I think the biggest issue was that their tuning was really off in the beginning and then they were thinking of that the rest of the time. If you know your opening was bad then it can really ruin the rest of the performance.

  • Candace has been the one who holds them together. She is like Super Glue.

  • i had to do a double take on the first part i thought it was a record playin.. good job delilah

  • wow! they are great and all so pretty

  • i can't keep my eyes off their beatboxer.

  • @aliasbell It's funny how people say things that suggest that these shows are ongoing. We sometimes 4get that these are prerecorded and are just being played back. That being said, Delilah may have already "pulled themselves 2geda" (or not). But whichever is the case has already happened. We'r just waitin to see it on TV.

By d way, I am rootin 4 them too....

  • Well they're still in it........but I think Pentatonix has already won this contest.

  • I really think they have to forget about "sharing the wealth", and just have Amy be the lead as her voice is so much stronger.

  • @jasonwycheung Well....just let me say that I was wrong with only allowing Amy to be lead. They sounded great with How To Love this week with different leads. Gina was amazing, and yet again when Amy sings lead...it's such an obvious difference!

  • I agree with most what I read here, I held off commenting but I can't... lol I really liked the first two performances so much that I hate seeing them go down like this.

The lead vocal on here, not a bad voice or anything, but I kept wanting to breath for her!

I also expected and wanted better harmonies to come in!

PLEASE get it together ladies, I really want to see you succeed and you won't like this.

Oh & I can so hear them sing Mercy for some reason, think they can rock that out big time!!!

  • If the next song they sing has to do with a broken heart or love on the rocks then they should be ok. Heatwave is a song about being happy in love and Flashdance is about ....failing at dancing? Im not sure really. Anyway as long as they get to sing a moving tearjerker of a song they should still be in the contest.

  • When Candace said after this song that a lot changed in her life since season 1, I wasn't surprised at all. It's clear that she's been through a lot, from her singing voice and speaking voice and how she carries herself. I hope she's okay :-/ I think the commenter below who said putting Candace on lead threw off the voice part balance was spot on. I want them to go back to dominating tomorrow night like they did the first two times! PS could Nick's puns be any dumber?! Lol

  • Kendall should sing the lead all the time - they say they're all powerhouse A+ singers...and maybe they are...but as a group...they're not. I cannot like them, they always sound messy to me, almost like they're fighting each other to be heard, instead of blending together as a whole.

  • The vocalist WAS good, so it's not fair to blame the poor song on her (Amy's not the only one who should sing vocals, even though her voice is amazing). It was the support of the song that was poor and uncertain... they pumped it up too much with complicated choreography before making sure that they had a good arrangement, well-practiced, that could "nail it." Instead, I saw a vocalist trying to sing her heart out while the background failed her. ...Sorry Candace.

  • Candace can actually pull off a lead part, but the harmonies were thin without her. Amy needs to sing the lead part most, if not all, the time. I really wish North Shore had stayed over them, though.

  • Dude people turned on Delilah like they were Jesus! Don't worry Delilah I'm not so fair weather.

  • I think Amy, Kendall or Ingrid (the girls that sang the leads in Whatya want from me,) should sing the lead(s) for the rest of their time on the sing-off.

  • I've gone back and watched this a couple more times, and...granted, I'm no expert (not in the least), but this really felt like an arrangement issue to me.

    (1) Delilah is soprano-heavy (4) and alto-thin (2), so putting an alto on lead unbalanced things.

    (2) The breakdown ("I am music now! I am rhythm now!") part needed to be even punchier, more dramatic.

Put someone else on lead and give them an afternoon in a studio, and I'm sure this would be an awesome track..

  • @wbradley1372 I agree that breakdown didn't work. I could think of a few ways that would have worked well to make this better.

I also agree taking their alto out of the harmonies didn't work. They have great low tones with Jo, but that middle filler they can't loose that making it the lead.

  • I LOVE Delilah but this was so bad. :'( Their first 2 performances were so creative and well sung and the third wasn't as creative but it was still good. This wasn't at all.

  • I actually really liked this performance. Sure, other groups have everything figured out and have their people singing all the appropriate parts for their voices, doing everything correct. But after lots of other groups its like, " yes, they did everything right, but did it sound good? Was it entertaining all the way to the end. Uhh... I guess..." Delilah is my fav, even if they mess up sometimes. They always sound awesome to me!!

  • I understand what they were trying to do. I do. But honestly, the don't have a true bass. The girl singing bass is actually in the tenor range, and the alto singing the lead hurt them in the long run because it was like a bunch of highs and one low in this performance.

The middle was missing. All bread, no meat. That will hurt them in the long run.

  • Candace was absolutely horrible! She isnt up to the task of singing the lead! She was obviously so nervous and that robbed her of the ability to deliver the lead with power and confidence. She is probably a very good background singer where the pressure and attention arent directly on her, but she was definitely the weak link this week and the reason the best group in the competition was in the bottom 2. Pull it together Deliliah! We are all rooting for you to win this whole thing.

  • DELILAH, WE WANT YOU TO WIN! PULL YOURSELVES BACK TOGETHER!

  • @lemmh2, I totally agree. They need Amy's strong voice. I hope with next week's format will get them back in the groove. All of them are great singers, but they need to use what their strength is, and that is Amy. Let her pound out the lead and have the bass and beat follow her with the other harmonies filling in the background. That is what blew everyone away the first week.

  • This was by far their worst performance! One more like this and they are probably gone. C'mon ladies, pull it together. You should be blowing everyone away as you are one of the best, if not the best, group in the entire contest! Dont let us down or we cant buy your CD's if you dont win the competition and the recording contract.

  • I liked it, but I just wish they had put out a little more energy and oomph with this song.

  • Oh my gosh..those outfits.. *facepalm* I liked the performance...but it wasn't as powerful as their first two performances.

  • Their problem is that they stick to the original format of the song too much with gernade they changed it in several parts but they need to make the songs they perform into their own.

  • They've got amazing vocalists... AMAZING. But I have to say that the lack of men does hurt the group--I really miss the low and mid-low ranges. The girls do the best they can to fill those in, but the sounds just isn't the same... women naturally sound higher and more "shrill" than men, and the group could really use a couple of deep resonant voices to balance them out.

That being said, again, GREAT vocalists. Even if I am a bit disappointed by the accompaniment of them, those vocalists ROCK.

  • Grenade kicked ass, but I haven't been wowed by them since... I think they should have gone over North Shore.

  • Candice did a great job and she has a beautiful voice that I think fit the era that this song is from. I do agree with Ben that the harmonies didn't lock right at first. There was also a couple of issues toward the end where the harmonies went out of sync a bit, but I think they were forcing and a couple of them went flat. There is no sound editing that can fix that. They have to make sure that they're not trying to be so powerful that they're losing control.

  • If they don't let Amy rock it out, they're going to go home. Candace has a beautiful voice, but she can't carry the entire gamut like Amy - emotion, range, and killer all-around performance that brings chills up your arm.

Just as the world needs ditch-diggers, singing groups need backup vocalists. There's no shame in it! None at all! These other girls should back Amy up in my opinion

Not to knock any of them. They're beautiful and extremely talented. But Amy's where it's at. It is what it is

  • @lemmh2

Agreed, they're all good, but Amy brings the power.

  • @lemmh2 Just wanted to say...Amy's an amazing vocalist I agree. But this is an a cappella group competition. A cappella isn't about showcasing one singer. It's much more about the group than one singer.

  • @vicesofvirtues The judges are quite harsh on Delilah when their efforts fall short of their first two performances, and I believe, and I think the judges believe, Amy is the key to that group's success. Allowing her to lead doesn't mean the other girls won't get to sing. Pentatonix is a good example of having one established lead and a harmony section that is sometimes showcased individually.

We all got a fever, and the only prescription is more Amy!

  • @lemmh2 Personally I think it's for the reasons other people have listed. They are incredibly top heavy, and have only two altos. When you don't have the middle, the arrangement isn't as great. And I don't think the judges believe that ALL! Look at the way they complimented Geena and especially HANNAH in the medley most recently. Amy is a strong soprano but she can't do low and soulful the way those two do.

Besides, if you look at Glee, everyone gets bored of Rachel singing every time.

  • I think they sort of sacrificed a little with this arrangement. They are very top heavy with 3 sopranos, only 1 bass and the 2 altos being hannah and kendal - the latter being more a mezzo-soprano than alto, thereby having a weaker lower sound. candace and hannah are the main altos of the group and thereby with candace singing lead, they actually sounded quite empty on some parts, sadly. that being said, i really love candace's voice.

  • @lufkinbell What I found out about this is that Candace has a lovely voice with a great range. So maybe you could count her to the altos.

With that being said, they should use their alto power as much as they can and put a strong soprano (Amy/Ingrid) as the solo and not their altos (Kendall&Hannah on Heatwave, Candace on Flashdance). They should make smart arrangements and carefully pick their solos (which isn't a problem in gigantic groups like YellowJackets). I still love them! Go Delilah!

  • I want to know whether Candace is their main alto...because the thing that to me, made this song on the end part of "meh" was that they didn't sound very full which they did manage to get on Grenade. But I also agree with whoever said they sounded nervous...and yes, I think we can safely say it's their weakest song yet. Wonder if they can bring their status back up...

  • They need to bring Amy back to lead vocal. She'S unique and powerful and that's what Delilah needs.

  • I loved Delilah's first performance but they have been all downhill since then for me. I really want them to succeed, but they're just not "cracking the code" as Ben said. Overall, I agreed with Shawn and I expected Delilah to go home; they would have if the most of the first 5 groups didn't screw up so bad. Frankly, I believe that North Shore was more consistent over the weeks than Delilah.

  • As much as I like Delilah, performances like this will not get them into the Finals. They sounded downright *nervous*, and it seemed like the crowd picked up on that. If they connected with the audience, I'm suspect this would've been better.

The other judges were more subtle, but Shawn's feedback definitely sounded like he was saying "you're outta here", and I think they knew it.

Hopefully, Delilah is getting their "off nights" out of the way early, and the weeks to come will be better.
