@chrisslipknt444 - I like both tunings and switch back and forth between them pretty often (a bunch of my videos are in EADGC). Depends on what you're playing and what kind of range you need.

@Mukopo - Yes, you buy strings that are meant to be tuned EADGC. You can't just tune standard strings up that far.

@OHTEHWIN - I...don't know. I guess part of it is that the strings I use (Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Rounds) aren't very noisy. And then I just don't drag my hand across them as much when I'm moving positions.

What software do you use for recording? Do you record video and sound separately and put them together later or what. Most of youtube vids sounds like crap... including mine... and I'd really like to get some easy way to make good sounding clips without making my living room a recording studio :D

@Devotheus - I my plug my computer audio (with the mp3 playing), and my bass into a little Mackie mixer (to get the levels right), and then the output of the mixer goes into a USB audio interface (I use an MBox2) which goes into the computer. I record using Quicktime (with the USB audio interface as the audio source and my macbook's webcam as the video source.).

It's not easier on bass. I play both guitar and bass..On bass you have to train your right hand to get the strength. Bass in my opinion is supposed to play by finger...And it's not easy to doing the triplets and shit by finger...

It is some great bass work. The thing is Metallica didn't show every bassist who auditioned in their video. There were guys who could play every Metallica song note for note and then some. Guys WAY better than Twiggy Ramirez...Metallica wanted a certain image also. And I am not saying that Gbagely is not Metallica material nor am I saying Trujillo is overrated. He's not. They just wanted a certain package in their new bassist. But I digress....amazing bass playing on this vid.

I have about 273$ (210euros) and basses are a little bit more expensive here than america.. the question is should i buy a 270$ bass or should i save more? my saving is very slow and i cant wait to buy a bass and release my will.

@samumaster I started playing bass around 17 yrs old and I started with just a cheap 100 dollar fender knock off. DO NOT spend alot of money if you're just starting out or aren't that great yet. Wait until you get better and start outgrowing the cheap bass you used for a while. Remember if you mess up a cheap bass its not to big of a loss but if you mess up a 300 or 400 dollar bass you'll wanna kick urself in the nuts!

buy a small sized cheap bass to begin with and go from there is my advice
