Van, actually I just heard from a Manchu (who says they are Manchu, which you have not done) about this and he says that the Manchu used four languages, but their primary form of writing was with the Uighur alphabet, which was also used by the Mongols. That concurs with what I read in histories. The issue here is that it was a Manchu Empire, ruled by Manchu, for Manchu Benefit. And the Manchu were not Chinese--as the Chinese confirmed when they murdered millions of Manchu after after 1912.

In the beginning of Ming Dynasty, Tibet have the right to self-govern, & military assistances in exchange for paying tribute to the Ming. "Tribute Missions" were just foreign trade missions.

Mongolia never conquered China. Don't apply modern notions of countries to reinterpret history. Just because humans didn't have light bulbs back 500 years ago does not make humans stupid.
Mongolia as a nation never existed since the Western concept of nationality and ethnicity in the 19th century.
Mongol tribes conquered China. They became the emperor of China who then annexed Tibet. They ruled China but it was still China.

Quomingdang Government Documents from 1945-1949 show that there were only 500 Chinese families in all of Tibet. You are lieing. Why is it important to Chinese to 'prove' (with lies) that Tibet was part of China-- when history shows any educated person the facts. The first thing you learn in Tibet, sadly, is that Tibetans are frightened of Chinese and that they hate them. Why? Because Chinese treat Tibetans like dogs. I have watched Chinese women spit in the faces of Tibetans to drive them out of their restaurants. The Tibetan men were so afraid (after 50 years of oppression, murder and Torture) that they said nothing to the woman. Watching them walk out with Chinese spit on their faces, that they did not wipe off shows the truth about China in Tibet.

There were Japanese military trainers training the independent Tibetan Army at that time, and THEY influenced the flag by contributing the rising sun. LOL Have you been to Tibet? The facts of history as presented in this video are not 'propaganda' they are facts. Propaganda means that facts have been distorted, for political purposes. The Chinese state twists facts of history when it says Tibet "has been part of China" since the 13th Century. That is not a fact. So when the Government says that, it is a lie. It is propaganda. This video tries to counter government propaganda amongst Chinese.

Thank you so very much! I am Manchurian and Tibetan Buddhist....We Manchus have never dared to take over Tibet like the Communist Chinese have wrote. China's claim that Tibet is part of China was never true and I know this from 5 generations of royal historical context. My family was there when various emperors made delagtional meetings with the various Dalai Lamas, Panchen Lamas, and Karmapas. We have always had a peaceful co-existance until the communist Chinese made there BS Propaganda!

Draco, I am curious about Manchu language. Did the Manchus, in 1612, have an alphabet? Or did they use characters? The Dalai Lama says that Manchurian Emperors developed a Priest-Patron relationship with his predecessors-- and that the relationship between them cannot be explained by contemporary international law, which is all based on western concepts. He says that relationship was religious, not political. Your comment?

No, I said it base on Mongolian Language therefore, it base on Mongolian alphabet. But the writing style from top to bottom is similar to Chinese system. At the same time, Qing Emperor used both Chinese & Manchu language to govern China. P.S. How do you know I'm not Manchurian?

Van, actually I just heard from a Manchu (who says they are Manchu, which you have not done) about this and he says that the Manchu used four languages, but their primary form of writing was with the Uighur alphabet, which was also used by the Mongols. That concurs with what I read in histories. The issue here is that it was a Manchu Empire, ruled by Manchu, for Manchu Benefit. And the Manchu were not Chinese--as the Chinese confirmed when they murdered millions of Manchu after after 1912.

Although I'm not a Manchu speaker, from what my father told me, my ancestor indeed used three different language (Manchu, Chinese, & Mongolian). But fourth one, please tell me which one (Maybe Russian?). When you mean Uighur, do you mean Uyghur script? Anyways, Qing Dynasty, were indeed rule by Manchu aristocratic. But, time goes by most of Manchu Elites were assimilated into Chinese culture. When they said, murdered millions of Manchu, they meant aristocratic personal army & family members.

It looks like there's a new youth movement for a Free Tibet- one that is starting to fray from the conjectures of the dalai lama himself.. which is ironically against lamaism in it's pseudo-"bhuddist" form. So no longer is the fight for religious freedom, or theocratic rule, it's about the freedom for a political Tibet, not the freedom of human rights.

But what will you do now that the Dalai Lama says "Past is Past" and urges Tibetans to remain within China, IF real autonomy within China is granted. He keeps saying that its good for Tibetans to remain inside of China (even though history proves Tibet was never part of China before 1950). So, what to do about that? For that to happen Chinese and Tibetans must become brothers and sisters.

IF His Holiness can convince Chinese leaders to allow real Autonomy in Tibet and stop the colonization of Tibet by Chinese, then because of respect for Dalai Lama, most Tibetans would compromise and accept real autonomy. IF HHDL dies in exile last chance for such compromise also dies. China has unique final chance to resolve Tibet issue now. Tashi, Yes it's been educational to engage in discussion with Chinese, who believe that Tibet has been part of China since the Yuan dynasty. Their belief is so strong they are not willing to even study history. It's scary when you understand a billion people DEMAND the world accept their version of history even when that version is a lie. Ask the Mongols if their conquest of Tibet made it part of China. Ask the Tibetans. Its on Amazon. And in big university libraries-- would not be in small town libraries.

lol It's seems you assume a lot of things. Just by one simple question & you are already assume all that? Okay, Yuan Dynasty conquered Tibet. Yuan Emperor had given them the right to the Tibetans to selves govern their country but they still belong & are subject to the empire. They must pay tribute with luxury goods, such as, gold, silver & etc. From this, Ming Dynasty had the similar deal with Tibet, instead being conquered, Tibet were subject to Ming Dynasty. Hence, Tibet part of Ming Dynasty.

Van-No, Tibet was never conquered by the Ming, was never part of the Ming. Look at the Ming Period maps in Jonathan Spence's book "The Search for Modern China"-- a primary source for any freshman course on Chinese history in US. They show Tibet outside of the Ming Borders. Yes, PRC scholars try to interpret Ming history as 'proving' Tibet was under the MIng. But that revisionist interpretation has found no traction amongst free scholars. Even Chinese sholars leaving PRC change their tune...

I'll repost. No, I don't mean conquered by Ming. There is differences between subject to & conquered by Ming. In the beginning of Ming Dynasty, Tibet have the right to self-govern, & military assistances in exchange for paying tribute to the Ming. However, sending the Imperial army to protect Dalai Lama & Tibet, proves too costly to Ming Dynasty. Hence, Ming relinquished Tibet as their provinces. With the threat in North East (Manchurians) & East (Japan), they see in no point keeping Tibet.

Historians, like Jonathan Spence, in The Search for Modern China, do not say that Tibet was subject to the Ming. Modern China's conflation of 'paying tribute' as though it came from 'subject nations' is innaccurate. Thailand for example, "paid tribute" to the Manchu. The Thai kings were even 'approved' by the Manchu Emperors. Does that make Thailand part of China? No. See Sarasin Viraphol "Tribte and Profit: Sino Siamese Trade 1652-1853". "Tribute Missions" were just foreign trade missions.

Even if Spence, research about Ming Dynasty, how do you know his point of view was objective / subjective? He may have interpret the some of the facts but not all. During the rise of Ming, the history between Ming & Tibet was so short, it was considered insignificant by most historians. Of course, Ming being proud country, they considered they never taken Tibet as one of their province.

Hence, when you google image for Ming Dynasty, all the map shows Tibet never belong to Ming. But if you were to type Ming in Chinese character, you see things differently. As for the Thailand, it was never conquered by Qing, nor conquered by Ming either. Therefore, the modern day China never considered Thailand as their provinces. Instead a good trading partner. For Tibet tribute mission are considered tribute to the Empire. Not a foreign trade mission between China & Tibet.

Yes, CCP propaganda is successful amongst the poor Chinese people. However if you think that the Nanking Massacre did not occur, you are either ignorant, or a liar. Japanese colonialism in China was one of the great tragedies of the 20th Century. Japan killed Millions of inocent Chinese. Which makes Chinese colonialism in Tibet all the more terrible. The Chinese know what it means to be invaded. So why would they commit the same crime, which they have suffered under, against Tibetans?

Tibet is a part of China because the CCP holds a gun to the heads of all Tibetans. The CCP is a bunch of murdering thugs. Tibet was invaded in 1950 and has resisted Chinese colonialism since. Yet uneducated Chinese, kept blinded by the CCP, are unaware of that. Whats frightening is to have blind people, like "dooooh", who want to curse anyone who disagrees with them. The rest of the world is growing more aware of the ugly nature of Chinese nationalism. Thanks for helping us see that.

That's what Chinese believe. The Tibetan people, and historians around the world, disagree with this Chinese belief. If Chinese believe the world is flat, does that make the world flat? History proves Tibet was never part of China until it was invaded in 1950. The Mongol and Manchu conquests of Tibet made it part of empires, not part of China. The Mongols and the Manchus did not conquer territory in the name of China. By your reasoning then India can claim New Zealand. Because UK Conquered both.

Then Quit doing business there. You can buy things in India, or Thailand too you know. When we buy cheap Chinese shoes we are opressing the Chinese People. The CCP is the slave master for the western corporations. The CCP prevents Chinese from forming free trade unions. The CCP prevents environmental protection in China. Correct, but it was invaded, at least twice. Tibet was never invaded with such a massive force, it was co-opted in a relatively peaceful way. A Mongol Invasion of Vietnam did not make Vietnam part of China. A Mongol invasion of China did not make China Mongol. A Chinese invasino of Tibet does not make Tibet, part of China. It makes Tibet an occupied country

Tibet has been occupied by China since 1950. Governments all over the world recognize Tibet as part of China, today. Be sure you understand the argument, clearly. Tibet has been part of China since 1950. However, the Mongol and Manchu conquests of Tibet, China, and Mongolia, did not make Mongolia and Tibet part of China since ancient timess. To proove that Tibet was not part of Tang China see Pan, Yihong, Song of Heaven and Heavenly Qaghan: Sui-Tang China and its Neighbors, 1997.

Morgan, 1999. More? There is agreement among historians on this. Tibet was never part of China until the 1950 conquest. tibet108 listen to what you're saying. You're simply aruging that Han Chinese is the only legitimate representation of China, by telling people that the Manchu dynasty can not represent China. If you want it that way, why blame CCP for spreading hate? According to your logic, the Hans can all see the minorities in CHina as unwelcomed foreigners and there is no need to treat them equally.

History shows that the CCP's claim to have 'inherited' its borders from Manchu conquests (Or Mongol or Tang depending on how dumb the Chinese making the argument is...) is faith based, not fact based. Only CCP hacks make the argument that Tibet has been part of China since the 13th Century. Because if Mongol Conquests make a country part of China ,then everhything from Moscow to Seoul would be part of China. Appealing but false

The world needs a fact based relationship with China. China is too important to be lying to the world. Its a matter of integrity. Can the world community trust the Chinese State? China says its rise will be peaceful. Is that true? Is that what Sino Tibetan history teaches us? CCP is willing to lie about history to its own people, and to the world. It gives out partisan misinformation. Why? What does that say about the integrity of the CCP State? It cannot be trusted.

Justified? You want China's occupation of Tibet to be based on imperial conquest? CCP does not want to justify its conquest with the imperialist reality of its actions. Thats why it lies to you about history. If it faces history then it has to say, "We conquered Tibet in 1950. Its ours. " Then how are CCP conquests in 1950 of Xingjiang and Tibet any different from UK and EU imperialist conquests in 1850?
