  • He doesn't mention what the New Jersey School board is teaching. If New Jersey students are learning about WWII or Prehistoric America , for example, it makes as much sense to mention George Washingston as it does to mention Napoleon.

  • What in the world has happened to New Jersey school board???

  • George Washington owned slaves Mr Keyes...

  • @gundamWWW everyone owned slaves back then, even democrats like myself and black people too. How do you think slavery started? Black people in Africa sold other black that they deemed "worthless" to society.

  • Actually only the wealthy owned slaves and sold and trafficked them.

    Poor people couldn't own slaves.

    (In the 13 colonies)

I completeley understand your point, but my point is that President George Washington had the chance to abolish slavery in the new Republic, and extend the virtues of liberty to all men... But he didn't.

It took another brave American to do so, long after.

  • Wow, what an insightful comment. I think anyone could say that after reading about such a development in the New Jersey school system.

  • "Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because if there be one he must approve of the homage of reason more than that of blindfolded fear. "

    -Thomas Jefferson, August 1787

  • "I am a real Christian, that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus." ~ Thomas Jefferson, to Charles Thomson, 1816.

  • so what? He was no holy roller, trust me. Every politician says what he has to.

  • @AgentOfOblivion

Regardless, Jefferson was a secularist and would throw up a wall between you and Keyes. Secularism is what the founding fathers stated; not theocracy.

  • @Kincajou ActuallY, "separation of church and state" appears no where in our Constitution. What it says is "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.", meaning: Congress is not permitted to legistlate whatsoever on anything pertaining to religion. This includes writing legislature PROHIBITING the inclusion of God's name in our national anthem, or "In God We Trust" on our dollar bills, or sculptures of the 10 Commandments at courthouses. Period.

  • "[M]y views of it... are... very different from that anti-Christian system imputed to me by those who know nothing of my opinions. To the corruptions of Christianity I am, indeed, opposed; but not to the genuine precepts of Jesus himself. I am a Christian, in the only sense in which he wished any one to be; sincerely attached to his doctrines, in preference to all others." ~ Thomas Jefferson, to Benjamin Rush, 1803.

  • how could a black man promote the slave owning African & native american slaughtering, land stealing nonfounding fathers. keyes

    = retard

  • So I don't guess you liked John Adams very much huh?

  • My school didnt include the founding fathers in the history class. It was dumb

  • History should have tells stroy from the beginning .

  • Keep in mind folk, the founding fathers were deists...not christians.

  • Stop learning through sound bites.

The founders were by and large Christians. Even exceptions like Jefferson whose writings indicate beliefs at odds with Christian Orthodoxy still considered himself Christian and wanted others to.

There was only one publically outright Deist among the founders: Thomas Paine, and he was considered extreme in his day. Deism was not in fashion in the Anglo World as it was in France. Deists took hear for being deists here.

  • Actually Jefferson and many others quoted christianity as being a confusing religion.

Some texts also indicate Adams was the only christian.

  • What "texts"? why would you read about the Founding fathers second hand? We have their own writings and most were decidedly Christian.

Also I don't think you got what I wrote about Jefferson in my last comment.

  • "why would you read about the Founding fathers second hand"

That comment makes no sense. Anyone that actually thinks the 'founding fathers' were born again it wayyyy off. They were not. Jefferson like i said was at odds with some it. You say he considered himself xtian. I don't know that.

  • Absolutely right! What leftists always leave out is that Paine was utterly ostracized for his perceived anti-Christian beliefs and was buried in a field because no cemetery would except his remains.

  • @kmcl11 they were deists, atheists, agnostics, and christians of all sorts. you can no more say that they were all one thing or another than you can say that all of america is.

  • carbs.

  • What is Alan Keyes doing on MSNBC..... That is an Oxymoron.

  • What does ice-cream taste like? You can study it, learn the molecular structure, all the history, flavors, etc - but until you TASTE it - you have no idea of what it is. I challenge you to taste the Divine, not to join anything, just for 3 days, sit completely still, + say - I don't believe or whatever, but say I ask you to show me something if you are real, that's all, just sit still for 5 or ten mins, pay close attention, waiting 4 some spec of proof. Nothing to lose, evrything 2 gain. B luved

  • You can still see that the ice cream is there. Show me where your "divine" is.

  • Ha ha, check mate!

  • I didn't see this message. I do believe this is important to talk about it.

It is hard to state anything in 500 words or less on here.

I sent you a friend request....

  • this guy is flaming

  • Can someone please let Alan know that if George Washington had his way, Mr. Keyes would be for sale right now. Also, remind him how corrupt Georgie was. Now Jefferson, Adams, and Franklin, tese are guys we should all learn about.

  • the point isn't that we should like the people that founded our nation, history isn't a popularity contest.

  • You said it! I used to be a teacher...Thanks to book burning democrats, among others, the schools are little more than mindless commie training camps...no imagination...no history...They will outlaw The Constitution next. So disheartening...

  • watch?v=8_tf25lx_3o

  • The destruction of pride and understanding of their country in our school textbooks began by design of globalists in 1948. I'm not promoting nationalist supremacy, I'm warning that if we forget what drove our ancestors to establish this country, and we throw away those freedoms, we will be asking for a miracle to think they will be as easily re-won, technology is on the side of government, not the people. We are the stroke of a pen from George Orwell's "1984", and the newsmedia will go along.

  • Alan Keyes is absolutely right, school and university's will twist and destort this country's history to put forth their extreme liberal agenda, It's sickening.

  • Alen Keyes and Ron Paul will never have a chance because the media doesnt want you to know about them, and so you wont.Get away from the tv,and wake youself up to whats really going on.

  • I seen Keyes on fox news I love the guy! He is smart and knows God's word.

  • dmpc777, i think there is a typo in your comment. How can this man be smart and know gods word? 'god' doesnt exisit. silly billy

  • Of crouse God does, why would you think God doesn't ?

  • Because I grew up !!

  • To me it sounds like you don't believe in God, I hope that's not true.

I know God's word well if you would like to talk. God bless...

  • Well I happen not to believe in god. But to believe in the Jewish version and think you know what he wants is just childish. If there was a being who created all of this ( I don't just mean the earth centred bronze age version as described in the bible ) then he is way above the point where mere humans can know what he wants.

  • I disagree strongly Yet the problem is most don't do research to understand God's word.

Unfortunately we have people calling them self's

Pastors that don't have a clue about God's word

And they mislead people or just use the name to take their money.

  • Understanding,Translations in Hebrew,Greek and so on in God's word does NOT contradict itself yet many men have wrote yet what was written in God's word all have came true and still are to this very day...

  • All did not come true, how can you say that. Jesus said he would be back before his 12 died. 2000 years and sad people are still waiting. How long does this go on for before they realise they have been duped. Its sad that so many have died either for or believing in delusions. Is it not plain to see that happened for thousands of other gods too. Its only because of the Romans we have even heard of Jesus, lest he be history like all the rest.

  • To be used to e-mail me and for me to e-mail you.

What do you have to lose,

You will have the power to delete the e-mail and block it if needed.

  • Yet many men and woman got tortured to confess their is no God and died refusing to do so...

You are not an Ape, God made all flesh White,Black,Red,Yellow,Brown and so on the 6 th day and said it was good...

Become my friend and we can have more of a debate if you wish.

  • That proves nothing even if it were all true. There are people being killed all the time for their beliefs, it makes not one of them true. It just goes to show how stupid people can be made to believe stupid things. Of course we are apes. Why did your god give me nipples?? 6th day, which account is that, 1st or 2nd? There are 10,000 sects all professing to know gods word, yet all discount the similarities between older religions and all think they know best. Its a myth mate.

  • VERY, very true. It is refreshing to see some americans realize this. You cannot depend on the television media to get the truth.

  • Excellent commentary, Dr. Keyes. Thank You.

  • Yeah, what happened to good old America!

People don't give a shit about our country's history.

    Go Alan!

  • your comment reeks of idiocy

  • Really??? If they hadn't built this great nation the way they did then you all wouldn't be able to sit here all comfortable and bitch about stupid stuff like you do.

  • alan keyes has almost nothing in common with our founding fathers, and Ron PAul is the one to listen to if you want to know what the founders wanted.

  • I disagree completely. BOTH Ron Paul and A K would make excellent Presidents. They are agreeable on approx 80% of the issues they are more similar than they are different !

They are both Honest, Principled Consistent, Independent Constitutional Conservatives .

They both have a deep Respect for and knowledge of the founding of America. They both are true Constitutional Scholars who would wipe the floor in a debate on Constitutional theory with either Obama or Mccain.

  • What are Ron Paul's credentials on Constitutional Theory? He is a MD. Barack Obama is a constitutional lawyer and taught constitutional law for many years at the University of Chicago.

  • Vote ALAN KEYES 08

  • This great Conservative principled Man is Running for Pres 08 ! Hop on his website for more info

    ALAN KEYES 08

  • America Needs this Man as our President, he can restore to us a Limited Constitutional Govt. of , by and for the People ! Just the way the founders Intended.

GO ALAN ! Support this Man and help us start to turn this nation around

  • Support Ron Paul!

  • Do your own conscience a favor, and get rid of your talk/news broadcast. I like what I hear better when you are debating the issues as they apply globally; not bashing a tabloid, like Geraldo. You spoiled my fascination with your sensibility and wisdom, when I saw the clip of you ambushing a prolifer, never giving him a fair say. Either Rush Limba, or Alan Keyes: make up your mind, so we can make up ours.

  • ALAN KEYES 08

  • having a phd means nothing look at whos in office now a degree from yale complete and utter moron-enough said

  • Is he related to Alicia Keys ?

  • Keyes is a theocratic moron. However, I believe he is correct here. All of the "founders" and their beliefs should be taught in school. We should also teach about the popular movements of the PEOPLE which seem to be overshadowed by the "leaders".

  • He may be theocratic, but he is NO moron. I STRONGLY disagree with him on many issues but I can't deny his brilliance. He has my vote. No question.

  • Anyone that advocates theocracy is a moron and is dangerous "in my book".

  • Your the only moron here.

  • You seem to be all over the place big1.

  • I'm a conservative your a liberal. We watch our type of vids.

  • I am watching and have watched this video. Speak for yourself. You don't know my positions are and you are just going by the common day American media labels which are not specific.

  • *what my positions are

  • YOU ARE A PROGRESSIVE? NO YOUR A LIBERAL!!! Just except it my friend.

  • Progressive isn't a specific term either. Btw, liberal is a very good word. You would know that if you knew history. However, the word doesn't state any of my positions therefore making it almost useless.

  • Harvard Graduate - PhD. in Government - enough said.

  • Alan Keyes is the man!
