hey can you please do a video about how to shop at makeup counters? i went to mac the other day but had no idea what i was doing. with sephora you just grab what you want but at mac i couldn't even find the lipsticks that weren't testers. i'm sure you have a lot of younger viewers that this would be helpful to as well and not just me. thanks!
Love this idea, but would be afraid of it getting tangled in my hair since it needs to be slightly knotted in. So I'd have to be careful and wear my hair in a way that makes this technique work well. Also this would work best when the hair is naturally straight or straightened. Can't see this working as well on curly or very wavy hair.
How-tos like these would be soooooo much more effective if YOU WERE CLOSER TO THE CAMERA.
You're gorgeous Marlena, absolutely amazing and sweet and probably the best beauty guru online, but when a majority of your videos are about doing stuff with your hair and face, make sure you're close enough so we can see it!

@MarvelousMarion I have no problem seeing these, I think that if you were too close you wouldn't get the whole idea. When you're learning this from other people you don't sit right up in a persons face. If you maximise the screen that might help, but I don't think it's hard to follow....

Like I said, *I* think some of us viewers (because I'm sure I'm not the only one) would really appreciate a more clear sense of what she's doing. She's a guru, she teaches, the whole point is for us to learn! If I'm not able to follow, I'm sure she'd like to know so her methods could improve so that everyone wins :] I'm not telling her to put the camera right against her face, I'm suggesting she *scoot just a few inches or so closer.*

@Boochlove disliking a video doesn't make you a "hater". I love marlena and I respect her opinions but her attitude in the video made it seem as if she was looking for something bad to say (imo). Though she did give some credit to the company, I don't think she would have gotten as many thumbs down if she didn't judge elf as a whole based on one collection.

@lindels My point was that people were saying rude and hateful things over a review. She said nothing disrespectful about ELF, she just gave her honest opinion like everyone is supposed to do in a review. I understand a lot of people felt she should have explored the brand a bit more but there is no reason for name calling or angry remarks. Not to mention, do you any of us REALLY know her as a person? Who are we to say when she is acting stuck up about something based on a video.

marlena not liking the elf products she reviewed was not a personal attack on those of you that like elf.. geez louise! the way people responded one would think she insulted their mothers or something.. her subscribers asked for an elf review.. she gave an honest one and just because her opinion is not that of yours doesn't make her a "snob" or an "elitist.." if she gives a rave review then she's a sell-out.. if she gives a not-so-glowing review, suddenly she's a snob.. poor marlena.

wow i understand that people were ridiculously harsh on your elf review but i don't think it's necessary to remove the video. I totally appreciate your honesty and glad that you totally disapprove of the poor quality of the holiday collection but I think most people were offended with the way you and your friend presented the products. Yes elf is cheap and the holiday collections is close to garbage but elf also has great products too. I hope you get a chance to try some of them =) don't be sad!

@mybeautifulfamily, an fyi my ego wasnt hurt seeing as how i own many high end cosmetics , its HOW she reviewed the products an obviously im not the only one who thought so. Seeing as many people have tight wallets in todays economy she should be a little more aware that that not all her subbies are going to be able to afford items.

It's just a pattern I'm noticing. Unless she's doing an eye tutorial, she's sitting further and further away from the camera.
All I was saying was that it'd be more effective in helping us learn something she's trying to teach if she just scoots a few inches closer so some of us can see it better. That's the whole point if being a guru, ya know? I'm glad you can see it just fine though :]

hey can you please do a video about how to shop at makeup counters? i went to mac the other day but had no idea what i was doing. with sephora you just grab what you want but at mac i couldn't even find the lipsticks that weren't testers. i'm sure you have a lot of younger viewers that this would be helpful to as well and not just me. thanks!

Love this idea, but would be afraid of it getting tangled in my hair since it needs to be slightly knotted in. So I'd have to be careful and wear my hair in a way that makes this technique work well. Also this would work best when the hair is naturally straight or straightened. Can't see this working as well on curly or very wavy hair.

You're gorgeous Marlena, absolutely amazing and sweet and probably the best beauty guru online, but when a majority of your videos are about doing stuff with your hair and face, make sure you're close enough so we can see it!

@MarvelousMarion I have no problem seeing these, I think that if you were too close you wouldn't get the whole idea. When you're learning this from other people you don't sit right up in a persons face. If you maximise the screen that might help, but I don't think it's hard to follow....
