@wierdmr "Obednia" is the full Russian Liturgy with communion service. "Obednitsa" is a reader's service or a "dry" service which is held whenever the priest can't be present. Because there is no priest, there is no Offertory or consecration of the bread and wine. The bread is prosphora, little round loaves which are given to the priest to remember the living, dead or the sick. A small piece is cut out and put in the chalice and the rest of the loaf is given back to the person.
