  • Oh whew I thought he was having a seizure at the beginning. Glad to see he's ok.... :0

  • Guys, he is only subdividing!!!!!....IN FOUR....haha

  • o.O

  • He actually conducts with his upper arm. The tip of the baton just flutters with no other purpose than keeping flies away.

  • @baldrbraa Maybe he thinks the blurry stick waving looks "vehement" or "uncompromisingly taking on the forces of fate" or something.

  • XD

  • We shouldn't make fun....Parkinson's is a terrible thing.

  • He's conducting in Japanese.

  • :-DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • Although the cues seem weird and stupid, I think they're rather consistent - it's 1, 2, 1-2-play - you just wait for him to do two silly up and downs on the beat where normally you're supposed to come in.

  • Seriously, I don't think he's much different from the "top star" conductors. They also like showing off and conducting one beat ahead the orchestra. This supports my hypothesis that conductors of professional orchestras are absolutely expendable people.

  • @subkontrabasklarinet Yeah, but you don't know anything about what happens AFTER the concert: they patch up recordings with the utmost precision and accuracy, no more showboating and histrionics. A concert is not a mere musical experience, otherwise people would just buy records. People need a bit of showmanship.

  • A pupil of Jaroslav Krombholc!

  • A pupil of Jaroslav Krombholc!

  • i'snt he conducting in two-times faster tempo than orchestra playing?

  • one of my all time favorites! Air Guitar, meet your match: Air Conducting!

  • Okej, i've got a question, i've always liked classical music, but why is there a fucking guy standing there waving a stick, i mean im guesing they learn't the music before they went there and what tone, strenght speed and all thay jazz, is he completely useless?

  • Extremely rad hair though.

  • I think they employed a bus conductor by mistake.

  • ahahah csm!!!

  • i know nothing about classical music; can someone explain what's funny about the video?

  • @simoncaca the conductor is funny

  • At 0:50

    Carlos Kleiber: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

    H. von Karajan: UHUHUHUHUHUHU!!!!

    Karl Bohm: WTF!@*!CK!!

Carlo Maria Giulini: MA CHE PAGLIACCIO!!

    Wilhelm Furtwangler: EHEHEHEHEHEHEHEEEEE!!!

Yevgeny Mravinsky: SOMEBODY ACTIVATE THE TRAP DOOR!

A music student hoping to be a conductor: NAAH, I'm changing my major!

  • @contrerados Funny, he kind of looks like Furtwangler did...

  • His hands trembling alot...and his left hand is quite interesting...

  • I REALLY hope that this Concertmaster gets bonus checks whenever he conducts the group!

  • Other than the downbeat the section after 5:27 is the best. Kudos to the orchestra for making it through this alive, and without laughter!

  • Usuki, der Superdirigent! :D

  • Oh God, if I got a downbeat like that I think I'd just have an aneurism instead.

  • I think he must have his iPod plugged in and conducting another Beethoven piece...

  • When i saw his first gesture, I actually cried with laughter.

  • I don't see what the big whoop is. He has great hair.

  • TU FOIRE TELLEMENT !!!!

  • It's very funny that there are several people that think that the conductor doesn't have to do nothing interesting in the concert... If you only have to follow the leaders of the section, the conductor is only disturbing, so he mustn't be there in the concert, only in the rehersals!!! Other thing is the orchestal discipline... it's true...

In this case I think that the orchestra'd play better with this awful conductor!!! :-P

  • Desecration and blasphemy.

  • HILARIOUS !!!

  • If so Tim . . why does this fine orchestra NOT play together? Answer: Conductor.

  • not playing together because of the conductor is youth orchestra shit. maybe the section leaders lack the skill to lead. if u've been in a professional rehearsal, u would kno wat im talkin about.

  • Bobby Corno lives!

  • He doesn't even realise that when the orchestra is not together on the many occassions - IT IS HIS FAULT.

    What a dickhead!

  • HAHAHAHAHA!!! Revolutionäre!!!!!!!!

  • no hay palabras. Elite

  • What an opening!!! This orchestra is 100% psychic!

  • HAHAHAHHAHHA! erm......conductor looks like he suffers from epilepsy

  • Looks bad, sounds bad. This man is not a musician. He's a charlatan. Uf.

  • ...einfach nich hingucken...

  • This is seriously one of the most hilarious openings ive ever seen. Thank god the orchestra could deal without him.

It´s ridicoulous, very funny. It seems like a robot! What a disaster hahahahahha

  • what a tremendous shit

  • Ironía amigo, ironía, no te enfades...

  • It could be that the conductor is actually a martial artist, that was sent to Japan on a secret mission, and was just pretending to be a conductor. You laugh. But try this: Slow down the video by 4X, and you will see what I mean.

  • show

  • I saw this video at least 15 times..and my conclusion is this.He must be a wonderful musician..and u can see that if u hear..The orchestra has many wonderful moments, you can feel and hear rich sound, good work at the rehearsal, you can feel the glory of Beethoven..But it looses from that conducting style..the poor man looks like he don't know what to do..and the orchestra too, because of that..If he was steady at tempo,it would be a great recording...

P.S: please forgive me for my bad english..!

  • I have been to his concert several times and I still remember those were the most impressive concerts I'd ever experieced. The best one was Brahms secomd symphony when he stopped the music because of the orchestra's technical reason. But after that the music went so great. I remember that time like yesterday even though it was about ten years ago. I'm not really trained about music but I still can understand the strong emotion of Beethoven (and this conductor). I like it.

  • that´s a bad joke, really. his upbeat to me looks like "play!!play!!Why don´t you start playing?Play!!!"

if you listen very carefully, you may hear that already the very first note is not exactly together (almost, but not exactly,)

and really obvious it is at 1:41, at 3:18 and especially at 4:03, the horns just can´t play togehter cause he´s not conducting well.

He may be a great musician (I don´t know him), but for me,he´s a quite poor conductor.

  • Genial!!!

  • What a joke....I can't believe people get payed to confuse.

  • FANTASTIC!

  • I think there's method to his madness at the prep.

He give a 1...2...1,2,GO! prep. It's the same for his beethoven IV video here on Youtube.

    I don't like it, but I'm also convinced it's not random. :)

  • Of course it's not random. Nothing is random if it's rehearsed and everyone is on the "same page."

But they might as well have rehearsed without him.

  • That is the most amazing upbeat I've ever seen. I wish we could see the rehearsal where he had to demonstrate that for them several times.

  • I know his rehearsal is only two or three days.

You can see his rehearsal in DVD.

    please seek keyword masato usuki.

  • I feel bad for him, but that is NOT conducting.

The severe delay means that they are ignoring him and watching the concertmaster.

  • @jediman05 not true. conductor's job is mostly off stage in rehearsal. gettin all the phrasing right, etc. conductor's job is to lead the orchestra and to give them the phrasing as oppose to just giving beats.

  • O.o

  • looks like he's poppin

  • theres a lag on the fucking video get over your selfs thats what conductors look like >.>

  • @maggiesfarm92

No. there's no lag on the video. If you watch the instumentalists you'll hear (hopefully) that the music and picture are in synch.

  • This... Is impossible. The Conductor isn't directing... He's having a spasm on stage. How can the orchestra be so together?

I thought this was a parody for a really long time... But I don't know anymore.

  • How do they even know where to play????????

  • Comment removed

  • @Chuckanor

    They watch the concertmaster.

  • are you people blind? This conductor is out of his freakin mind! Senile! he shouldn't be conducting anymore. It's amazing that they are as together as they are. You can't conduct like that. rediculous! If they actually played the way he conducts, it would have been a complete disaster.

  • Maevelous!!!

  • A carbon copy of Furtwangler i think...

  • yes it is.

  • Yes! This is good and wonderful!

WONDERFUL!!
