  • By the way, your analysis is good enough, given this game is too complex to show all details. Nice video!.

  • I don't believe in this sacrifice! Beliavsk must have played bad to lose that way!

  • One thing you might do is put arrows on the video showing where the piece moved, sometimes you can't figure which piece moved if your eye doesn't catch it. You do state where the piece moved in the audio but the video moves to quick to figure it out without pausing sometimes. It might also help if the ranks and files were labeled

  • Where i can get fritz ??

  • I am watching this video for like 20th time now... Very good. Thank you.

  • You're the best Sean!!! Now where is that link...

  • You can always pause the game and go back over it... I think it's fine.

  • i apreciate that you handled the criticism like a man, but to be quite honest i find this game really difficult to follow. its really hard to see for example how kasparov is better in such a short time and than you just show to many variations and do it too fast. maybe just not so many variations and be a bit slower if the game is difficult to grasp like this one

  • wow best presentation, you present complicated stuff so easily. but you make the video too slow, give too much information and show not enough variations. damn are all people who rated this video nuts?? how can someone possible follow that stuff??

  • Hiya - which stuff did you find hard to follow, just out of interest? I have changed the way I make the videos since I made this one - you will probably find the more recent stuff better; please let me know!

    Thanks,

    Sean

  • dude i`m a total amateur and i can follow it easily , although as Sean says in the upper commentary he improved his style - in the more recent ones there are more variations, but also the vids are done in several parts.

  • No we are not nuts...just been playing the game for years and understand the position and the possibilities.

If you can't see the tactical possibilities, you need to train in that area of the game. Then you'd be able to see the dynamic qualities of this game.

  • @IHATENEDAH its easy to follow

  • Thanks Sean, I've played many games being a Rook down with black;it forces you to work to a better positional advantage then;

  • When I try to install Fritz it says "Warnung 16 MB RAM required..." but I obviously have way more than 16 MB of RAM

  • Hmmm ... that is strange, I have not heard of it happening before. Does it still work okay, or will it not even install?

  • Nevermind, I guess it works, it was probably a fluke. Thanks for the instructional videos though!

  • You don't need a database if you have the openings book already. If you want to load a game, save it as a .pgn file on your desktop. Then go into the database section and click "open" - then select your game from the desktop and it should load no problem. (After that I recommend going to the "coach" tab and choosing "analyse game" it'll take about 20 minutes, and it's well worth it!).

  • Are you reading the comments from a book?

Your voice sounds like you are doing so.

  • Hi Manju, thanks for the feedback. I will try to go more slowly in future - it's just that I only have ten minutes and I like to get as much as I can into the video! But you're right, clarity shouldn't be sacrificed over content. To answer your question, if it is a complicated game I make notes and read from them because otherwise it is easy to get lost in the variations and as I'm sure you know there is nothing more annoying than getting halfway thru recording and having to start again!

  • A lot of the games I use come from books, and when they are games I don't know well then I often make notes from the book commentary and read them myself; that's why my voice sounds that way. Ideally I would like to be able to speak freely about all stages of the game, but often it is difficult to remember everything I want to talk about and so I read from the notes; although it doesn't sound entirely natural I get everything in and to me that's more important. Thanks again for the feedback!

  • It could be an good idea to comment a game like this in two parts. Each part 10 minutes. Then you can take your time to explain things clearly without worrying about the maximum length of the video.

  • Thanks again Manju - I hadn't considered that and may well do in the future. You're a godsend! Cheers,

    Sean

  • It's a very good game. In the video I would prefer if you would explain in a slower pace the ideas behind the moves. You go very fast through the different line.

  • Brilliant video, picked u up cause of kingcrusher. Kepp the videos coming. Thanks for the fritz engine link with opening book. Going to have a look for that now.

  • For some reason it's not letting me post the link ... if you go to google and search for "Fritz 5.32" it is the first result: "Zarkon Fischer's Free chess programs". You will also need an openings book, which is available on the same page. Fritz will be in German to begin with, but you can change this once you have installed it. Best of luck!

  • Does Fritz work with the Apple OS

  • I'm not sure - you might want to try Rybka instead, although I'm not sure about that one either. I'm almost certain there is an engine out there that's compatible with Mac machines. Hope this helps!

  • thank you

  • I know HIARS is for mac.. but I think all engines are, only not their interfaces. the engines are in 1 format aren't they? In Sigma Chess I use Hiarcs..

  • Nice. Kingcrusher was right about you. I hope you will use a better chess setup albeit (easier than showing all sqrs)

  • Very nice video Sean great work!!!
