in the animal kingdom the males always have to look good to attract the female, but in the human world, it's the women who are in competition with one another to land themselves a guy. believe me, girls are more desperate for guys than guys are for them!! that's why women spend a ton of money on plastic surgery to look better than the next girl, go for boob jobs, lipo, butt jobs, lip jobs and all that, then spend again on make up, hair, nails, clothes and shoes. women are more desperate!

That said, men are increasingly feeling the pressure to be "pretty"(or youthful) as well, but women are a great deal more pressure to remain pretty because we need to make sure for 9 months and beyond, our mate is going to help us raise our offsprings. But I wish you were right, I wish it were okay and celebrated to look bland not the case, though.
