  • lol

  • i like posting, but only on horses that i have a little more difficulty sitting. Nothing beats sitting a very nice trot, though it can definitely be unpleasant. neither is better than the other, though.

  • GET A HAT ON. this is not expert this is dumbass.

  • When western riding was invented, it was much more practical to not post because you had much better balance when twisting around corners and sharp turns and the like when herding, and when roping cattle, you didn't have to worry about the post plus trying to stay in the saddle while getting yanked by a cow or calf.

  • Posting is not easier on the horse than a sitting trot because a good rider will absorb the up and forward movement through their relaxed hips!

  • is that really a trot?

  • tht trot is waaay too slow... ground covering??? errr u wish

  • okay, everyone rides different, and just because someone doesnt ride the same way as you guys, doesnt mean they are riding wrong.

  • @WeeGal159 i wasnt directing tht 2 u except 4 the part about posting, and i didnt mean it like TELLING u i was just saying, just thought u might wanna no...

  • That Horse Must Be Soo Bored By Now :L

    Going Around And Around !

  • Considering that this is a beginners lesson, everything was well taught.

Going into detail one would have to comment on the posture of the rider. Elbow, wrist, hand (of the rider) don't line up with the horses nose. The rider keeps looking down at all times and even leaning to the inside of the circle. This is not helping to be balanced. So working at the riders posture would be more important than working on the horse itself. This horse isn't very supple, but ok for the job asked. Good video!

  • I Need some help!!!

    I am confused!!

When you go into a canter, how do you make it comfy for you? I have watched many videos and tryed it myself but it dosen't seem to be comfy for me.

  • @prinsses9742 lean back a bit if it doesn't come naturally, and try to follow the horse's movements

  • @prinsses9742 Question to ask would be:

Does your horse maintain collection? If so; sit back and find the rythm of the two of you. Leaning back isn't quite appropriate as you are putting too much pressure on the horses loins. This makes it hard for the horse to stay collected.

If your horse does not maintain collection go back and look for the reasons why. Hope this helps.

  • @AMacKenzieRanch

  • she bores me..

  • I reallly want to know how to grip your knees when your ridding (english) becasue my teacher alway says your griping wrong in your legs ? Whats that spose to meen ?

  • Mabey she mans that your knees aren't against the saddle (you shouldn't see any light) but some places ride differently.... Ask your teacher.

  • @hihihippo320 From my experience you are suppose to relax your knees, and pretend someone has cross an anchor under your horses stomach attacked yo both your heels, you should be molding from your knees down around the horse.

Everyone learns different, but thats how I've been taught. Hope it helps.

  • @hihihippo320 ur no t ment to grip

  • @hihihippo320 It means that your thighs/calves are too tense so that you're holding on to the horse by physically gripping with your knees to hold on. This is a mistake because it means your weight is neither in your stirrups or your seat - it prevents you from going with the horse's movement and giving your aids supply and properly. It also often causes you to subconsciously lift your feet, thus frequently losing your stirrups.

I had this problem too. I found that riding without stirrups helped

  • she needs to put her hands closer together there way to far apart

  • @Chloe5558 in english her hands should be closer together but some western horses are trained that way theres a horse at my barn i ride at to get him collected she needs to do it near the withers

  • @elvensungoddess

Same in western riding. No matter if English or Western; if your hands are that far apart it's a mistake and will make you loose points.

But don't forget this is a beginner and she is working towards the overall goal. Maybe she is addressing this at a later point.

  • i knoe why the hands are appart its because the <3 saddle <3 horn is in the way

  • @Chloe5558 THEY ARE FINE!! DO U EVEN RIDE?

  • @Chloe5558 you need to think about what she's teaching the horse. If you look, she's teaching to the horse to keep his face bended to the inside

  • yeah i dont get why you dont rise and fall in western its much more comfy for the horse and you

  • Comment removed

  • its more comfy sitting trot when you know the horse really well

  • @WeeGal159 called posting.

  • @WeeGal159 ya it is, but i think the western saddle is (no offence to western riders) like stero typing horseback everyone thinks that anyone who rides horses is a hick or a cowgirl and its so not like that Im english hunter under saddle hunter jumper and its like no we dont wear cowboy boots and jeans no we dont wear cowboy hats i REALLY perfer english but if people want to hate me cuz i dont like western hate me. thats that. and this is not just to her (ps its called posting not rising+fallin)

  • i know

  • @WeeGal159 and if you roll with the horse in a western saddle it is more comfy for you and the horse.

besides the only thing western in this video is the saddle. western riding is done with one hand (neck reining) and if I find a poor example of an english rider and say its a hard on the horse its not exactly accurate is it?

  • @WeeGal159 I think the stirrups are a tiny bit longer for normal riding than english riders generally have them, so they can't really rise out of the saddle anyway.

  • i love slade

  • I've been riding on and off since I was six,

Going to horse camp in two days! gotta brush up on some of my skills :)

  • I'm going to camp soon too! lol

  • What is horse camp?

  • its where you go to camp with horses... er thats not helpful

you go to a stable with your horse or a horse from the stables and ride and groom and go on trips and stuff with your horse! you usually sleep on straw and stuff its great! I got back about a month ago lol

  • haha thats wat i have been doing lol im going to camp in a bit too

  • But I'm not really hearing about "balanced" riding. Its a lot of riding jargon without real instruction. Anyone else get that?

  • exactly... hello lady!! we want tips on riding ... not stupid ramble about nothing, things that are so ovious that little kids could do it!

  • This horse has the stiffest back I think I've ever seen...he could probably do with some therapy for that...

  • yeah the horse is totally stiff and uncomfortable...

  • she's clear, calm and experienced. better than kelli

  • this lady is good, shes confident and knows what shes talking aboutt xx:)

  • good

  • I too commend this lady, her videos are wonderful. Her voice is clear, you can see and understand everything shes trying to convey,

  • Wonderful teacher. She understands the questions that riders have and need answered. I like her style of teaching. Bravo!
