the first doctor was the only one I'm not in love with. Not because of his age, but because he's such a stubborn ass!! Great video by the way! I'm so lucky to have stumbled accross this! the one on the CD is condenced to the point where I can't make sense of it!
The BBC were crazy. They'd make a programme, screen it once then burn it. It's absolute madness. It's like building a house, living in it for a week, then knocking it down. Barmy.
Gotta be a copy somewhere. Someone with a crush on Zienia Merton probably stole the reels, lol. Definitely the cutest girl ever to be on Doctor Who of any era.
This is the best reconstruction I've ever seen! Particularly because of the inclusion of the video clips from the surviving sources, but also the high quality of the telesnaps. The lack of any narration on the soundtrack is also a real bonus, making this seem more like an actual episode. Brilliant!
Wow thanks for the comments. The pictures come from a mix of sources really; some are telesnaps (taken by a camera off screen in the 60s) that I have found in magazines and various other sources. The others are photographs taken onset that I've basically found through lots of googling and some are composites of different pictures, such as the one at 6:24 and the opening shot of the Tardis on the plateau!
That must take forever--especially the composites, which are so well done I had no idea they WERE composites until you told me--I am very grateful to you for sharing these with us!
thank you so much!

From the comments I have seen, the BBC should snap you up to officially reconstruct episodes. Have you approached them?

why did the episodes get lost in the first place?
softcellrock 2 years ago
They were lost due to the way that shows were stored back in the 60s. The BBC needed to remove programs in order to store others.

A trivia question. Any one of you oldies remember what television programme preceeded the second episode of the first Dr.Who series?

the bbc claim that some, maybe a lot of the missing 60s episodes are in zimbabwe, but their leader won't let them try and find them.

Well, that's news to most of us... and the BBC, for that matter.

I know people are trying to do their best to preserve these after the asses at the BBC wrecked the films so I give them three.
