As a rule you shouldn't mount from the floor if you can possibly help it on a treeless saddle or a treed saddle, you should always try to find something to stand on, I use anything thats around, gate, wall, bank or rocky outcrop........luckily Zeb will stand still for me to get on, makes a change from the hopping mount that I had with my cob, she didn't change in the 9 years that I had her before she was put to sleep, bless her!

I see.. maybe the old western saddle is still the best, when you need to use the saddle in the activities you want to do...
