Everything looks amazing. The only thing I don't like is the animations. It could be because they aren't "cool" looking enough as in BF3. In reality I guess not everything looks cool all the time so it's ok I guess. But it's also about how equipment and such reacts when moving for example running here in arma 3, the way you swing your weapon, I'm not sure you would do that.

If you are around a corner the AI starts shooting at you, if the AI are under fire they'll start running around and panicking. This game is only WORSE than ArmA 2, and just because its DX11 and Ragdoll supportive doesn't change anything.

i 150% agree with you. im runng sli 570's and 2500k and on a mix of high asnd very high and medium even my fps still dips to the low 20's on some parts of the campaign. even if this took an extra year to optimize i wouldnt care. as long as it stayed at a smooth 60 fps

Have you played the game? No you haven't. I don't think its possible to consider what you say as facts just yet. Regarding the AI its hard to tell if they set it to low, high, or very high.

Its funny how people compare Arma 3 with Battlefield. First off, the first arma game was called Operation Flashpoint: Cold war crisis. It was released 2001. That's one year before BF 1942 was released. It was Developed by Bohemia Interactive. BIS broke up with Codemasters. BIS couldnt use the name Operation Flashpoint because Codemasters owned the legal right to that name. They re-named it to ArmA. Its a combat simulator, compared to BF, which is an arcade game. Completely diffrent games.

Its just totally diffrent than battlefield. In terms of realism it cant just even be compared. The AI is designed to kill you and not to entertain you. This means that one mistake can erase 40 minutes or progress. It takes a great time to get into and to learn. It features aircraft, tanks, infantry, multiplayer, and a map editor to create your own missions, aswell as loads of custom mods. Its a extremely fun game if you like these kinds of games.
@Sightoz Well, they really cannot go around that, because there are so many words that id they tried to make them all into multiple sound files, it would take as much memory as the game itself. I doubt they'll make it sound normal, but make it a bit faster.
@GigantGatlingGun to some extend yes but in fact it is actually much more than BF3, speaking of both, content and gameplay possibilities. In Arma 3 you can drive, shoot, fly and use whatever you see.
One of the main differences to BF3, next to the better realism, is that it is a complete open world game. No "return to the comeback area" messages and hundreds of square kilometers for you to explore. :)
Arma 3 offers you a completely dynamic environment.

Frankly you couldn't be more wrong. There are lot's of games like mw3 and bf3 for the casual and competitive ADHD audience. Trying to pry into that with ArmA is frankly a mistake (and it would fail - they do it better).
ArmA should stick to it's strengths : realistic warfare simulation on a massive scale. Sure, the market share ain't that big, but at least the share is ALL yours. ArmA was doing something unique.
We've made serious progress with optimization and frame rates in ARMA III with a whopping 28 FPS on medium settings with our 1000GHZ 80 core processor and GPU with 10 million cores, running at 150ghz.
People should really watch gameplay vids, play the predecessors or wait for it to be released before complaining about how boring or crap it looks. "Shack Tactical ARMA 2" is a good thing to search
Looks to be an improvement over ArmA2 in various ways, although less authentic due to being set in the future.
It's unlikely to be any more accessible than ArmA2, but it could at least be a smoother experience (eg. animation, bugs, netcode, UI).
Most players from other shooters will still not like it, as it appears to be as niche appealing and clunky/artificial feeling as previous ArmA games. The online "action" is not streamlined or consistent enough for the masses either.
BF3 and MW3 might be the main fame right now.... but they dont know what good games look like :) It's all about realism not how fast you can tap-fire or quickscope... -From a 13-year old who despises unrealistic games
@Damecos Nope I think its a pretty realistic game because of how you compare real life firefights from this game... hear the sound of AK's popping from some direction having no idea where the shooter is leading you to make DECISIONS, yes decisions I play with my clan and we ALWAYS take these decisions carefully one wrong move can kill the rest of our squad..
I love arma because it gives me decisions, and to talk with mature people than kids mostly online.. so we have our own opinions :)
@sonnytenedo Battlefield basically has that as well though (particularly the BF2 mod Project Reality). Many online games reward teamwork and tactics, just usually not to the same extent as ArmA.
ArmA generally has more mature players however It also has abusive kids and griefers.
Part of the *realism* of these games is how people play them. In ArmA if you have a stupid kid screaming at you and wrecking all your assets it obviously ruins the immersion.
Dear Martin, where was last time you played Arma2? FYI the steering wheel is already functioning in arma2, and even thou we like our milsim authentic, we dont really care - what we care about is - better netcode, better mod support, better physics. We play this as milsim how do you play this dear Martin, home alone as FPS?

@Sightoz Well, they really cannot go around that, because there are so many words that id they tried to make them all into multiple sound files, it would take as much memory as the game itself. I doubt they'll make it sound normal, but make it a bit faster.

@GigantGatlingGun to some extend yes but in fact it is actually much more than BF3, speaking of both, content and gameplay possibilities. In Arma 3 you can drive, shoot, fly and use whatever you see.
One of the main differences to BF3, next to the better realism, is that it is a complete open world game. No "return to the comeback area" messages and hundreds of square kilometers for you to explore. :)
Arma 3 offers you a completely dynamic environment.

@GigantGatlingGun I'd advice you to better try to find a squad or some mates and play Co-op missions with them. Open multiplayer is just an unorganized mess. :D
The true Arma experience is found in Co-op ;)

Holy shit forget everithing i said about bf3, this game is way better in everithing, even because you can change between third and first person, and thats really awsome because some people like me, love to play in third person.

lol before i know about arma i thought that bf3 it was the more reallistic war game ever, but after seeing some arma 2 and 3 videos i realized that bf3 is nothing compared to it.
But im my opnion bf3 graphics are still better than this.
They should make a ps3 version, because my pc suck and would never play this game.

I hope by broadening their audience they don't mean anything arcade like. I'm already a bit displeased about the futuristic setting as it a bit fantastic. Also wearing enemy uniforms doesn't seem like something that real soldiers on a battlefield would do. It sounds a bit fishy. What I want from ArmA is a realistic simulation I a realistic setting.
I wonder how long it will take to convert ACE mod to this third instalment..

@slipcurve most people nowadays want a game thats not super realistic , if it was like this as it is now it would be more attractive to people, although i hope it doesnt turn into a fagfest mulltiplayer. its a game so it wont be 100% realistic as ARMA 2 almost was.
also the disguising thing might make multiplayer a bit more differnent in a good way

Frankly you couldn't be more wrong. There are lot's of games like mw3 and bf3 for the casual and competitive ADHD audience. Trying to pry into that with ArmA is frankly a mistake (and it would fail - they do it better).
ArmA should stick to it's strengths : realistic warfare simulation on a massive scale. Sure, the market share ain't that big, but at least the share is ALL yours. ArmA was doing something unique.
The changing costumes gimmick seems awful.

We've made serious progress with optimization and frame rates in ARMA III with a whopping 28 FPS on medium settings with our 1000GHZ 80 core processor and GPU with 10 million cores, running at 150ghz.
Still CTD and frame drops in combat tho...

Looks to be an improvement over ArmA2 in various ways, although less authentic due to being set in the future.
It's unlikely to be any more accessible than ArmA2, but it could at least be a smoother experience (eg. animation, bugs, netcode, UI).
Most players from other shooters will still not like it, as it appears to be as niche appealing and clunky/artificial feeling as previous ArmA games. The online "action" is not streamlined or consistent enough for the masses either.

@sonnytenedo But what exactly do you judge *realism* on? Graphics? Map size? Free-aim? Ballistics? Authentic factions? Authentic setting?
There's heaps of different aspects and they're all simply relative to the next game.
The way people actually play the game is entirely dynamic and affects how realistic the experience is as well.
BF3 in some ways is arguably more realistic than ArmA, although clearly in other ways it's not.
Also, If a game is *too realistic* the gameplay can suffer.

@Damecos Nope I think its a pretty realistic game because of how you compare real life firefights from this game... hear the sound of AK's popping from some direction having no idea where the shooter is leading you to make DECISIONS, yes decisions I play with my clan and we ALWAYS take these decisions carefully one wrong move can kill the rest of our squad..
I love arma because it gives me decisions, and to talk with mature people than kids mostly online.. so we have our own opinions :)

@sonnytenedo Battlefield basically has that as well though (particularly the BF2 mod Project Reality). Many online games reward teamwork and tactics, just usually not to the same extent as ArmA.
ArmA generally has more mature players however It also has abusive kids and griefers.
Part of the *realism* of these games is how people play them. In ArmA if you have a stupid kid screaming at you and wrecking all your assets it obviously ruins the immersion.

FYI the steering wheel is already functioning in arma2, and even thou we like our milsim authentic, we dont really care - what we care about is - better netcode, better mod support, better physics. The net code is beeing improoved
They give the community plenty of mod support. If it makes you feel better, they are considering integrated mod support within the final product.
They introduced Physx from nividia...
