Does the PAL and NTSC standars doesn't matter when using an hdmi cable as the output of your console? does the HDTV needs specific requirements to run pal games on it? ( I have my console connected by an hdmi cable to a samsung hdtv) thanks! :) :D

I'm from Asia and currently studying in Canada. And yes I do carry my PS3 across the globe during summer holiday. PS3 is completely region free. I buy games from Asia, North America and online Europe website all the time and it works perfectly, no difference. PS3 is voltage universal, so the different voltages is not a problem, you don't need a new power cord. However, you'll need a universal adapter because each region has different power plug. DLC and online servers/accounts are diff stories.

@Raka2716 It depends which online game, check the game's website for details. Sometimes games like Battlefield 3 will only work the 1-player Campaign and Split-screen as it requires the EA Pass unless you create an account from the country you purchased the game.

@thedoctordunee yes because HDTVs support 720p, 1080i and 1080p which is used in both PAL and NTSC HDTVs, however, SDTVs and EDTVs aren't because PAL uses 576i and 576p and NTSC uses 480i and 480p which is the case for the Wii.

yes it will you only need to set up an account from whatever region the game is from to activate the online pass. If have plenty of experience in this field, because i just did it myself.

@SybowLikesXbox your uk game's dlc should work in portugal, if not, create a psn account with a uk address. Once downloaded and installed, it should work on all accounts.

no i mean does ntsc content works on pal example i have BLES 00131 Black ops disc id and the elite sevice is then american ntsc so the dlc's would be BLUS disc id so it wont work could you clarify this for me

@linkinpark1234rocks You may have to import the US version of Call of Duty: Black Ops. The dlc must be downloaded from the US store. Once your dlc is downloaded and installed, it works on all PS3 accounts including your European account. Some online gaming may have a server-side lockout so you may require using your US account. Some online gaming dosen't. Ask Activision for details. But the disc itself is region-free.

@linkinpark1234rocks The disc itself is region-free, but the for the dlc, you may require an another PSN account with a US or Canadian address. Once your dlc is downloaded, it will work with all user accounts on your PS3 account including your main PSN account. You will require a credit card to make purchases with the US PS Store. Check US Postal Services website or Canada Post website to find an address and postcode.
