  • I've got plans for nearly the same thing.

Uses the Mach3 software used here too.

  • Can you make a video showing how to use mach3 bcuz I have no clue how to use it

  • Do you have a tutorial to set up. tech drawings, models?? or know where I could find some?

  • almost any stepper works!!!

  • Can anyone could tell what type of wod board is used in this video, Thanks

  • I'd love more info. My copy carver was one of two machines that were not nicked by burglars from my guitar shop, but this could make many parts and probably do archtops too. The biggest archtop I ever made was 19 x 25. That is huge by guitar standards. What was you cost? I work with steppers, gear motors, and other stuff and or have done so in the past as an industrial electrician, and millwright. Out here you do a lot of work other trades would normally do. The unions are very weak.

  • Can you tell me how do you secure the piece from moving? I see clamps on the side. Also, how do you keep from damaging the machine when cutting all the way through?

  • @bullseye911 i wouldve thought the router carriage would just have a maximum depth like 00.1mm from the table.

    just spitballin

  • The router in the vid is a small Bosch, about 20 years old. I replaced that with a more powerful dewalt/Trend later. If you're thinking of doing this in a production environment, it's worth considering a spindle..more powerful, more reliable and quieter.

  • Fantastic Job, Thanks for the above information you have provided, May I know what type of Router are you using for cutting, I am planning and gathering information of making 8'X4'X6" XYZ axis CNC machine for my Wood working Factory, Can you please provide me some more datils, It wouldbe highly appreciated.

  • HELLO , CAN ANY ONE HELP ME OUT WITH DEVOLPING A CNC MACHINE WHICH IS A PART OF MY PROJECT . JUST PROCEDURES . HOW TO IMPLEMENT MACH3 .

  • Nice I'm going to be starting my cnc project......Great VID

  • Nice!!!! Im beginning my video log on my cnc router!!! greta job!!!

  • Homemade tools Rock. This looks like a HOmemade monster!

  • can you tell me what steppers you used, and what driver???

  • @sabladask

The steppers are 425 oz/in from motion control products in the UK, the drivers are "msd 542" from the same people. I've since built a MechMate 8' x 4' using the same drivers, no problems with any of them, yet!

  • very cool---could it carve boat paddles or gun stocks?

  • @micmoable

With the right software, it could. overall size may be too small for a paddle in one go, but it would do the blade and handle in two hits. If you built one for these tasks specifically you would obviously just size it to suit.

    Hope this helps.

  • @mphel sounds neat but I have no electronics or engineering training---and I'm sure both would be needed to build such machines

  • @micmoable

I thought the same, but once you get into it, with all the info on the net, it becomes much simpler than it first appeared.

I'm a simple joiner, so if I can build one I'm sure you could.

  • @mphel I'd like to build one sometime to cut out and shape guitar bodies, guitar necks, and other stuff such as boat paddles, etc. I guess each new item would require a new program or programming of the machine

  • @mphel Simple joiner? nothing simple about any of us

    Good job!

  • @micmoable - actually, with the instructions you can find online you really can learn everything you need to know.

  • @scott98390 THANKS

  • @[Anyone who asked about the software]: I believe that's called "Mach 3"

  • Touch screen makes it awesome. IMPRESSED!

  • Nice job ... what kind of softwhere did u use??? i'm working on a Cutlitle Penta Laser cuting machine atm....1000W power :-) runs with Smart Manager the table size is like 1500mm x 2500mm

    cheers mate.

  • Nice work ! Can i please know the name of the software you are using :) im planning on doing a CNC soon !

  • You must be a very intelligent man. Respect.

  • i must say that i am very impressed. excellent job.

  • hi great job..by the way how do u program it in the firstplace, and how can u get a software for this, how could we built the driver circuit for it

  • nice

  • that's awesome, I'm close on a much smaller scale but I can't wait until it's working :)

  • I have a CNC motor controller 3 axis Toshiba TB6560AHQ and 3 BS57HB56-03 Stepper Motors but when I power up the systems after while my motors “gets hot” without using them (in non operational mode) is that any normal?

Do you know if Mach3 v R1.83 can work with USB to Parallel port converting pluck? Because I have a laptop with no Parallel port so I bought a USB to Parallel port converting plucks any suggestions welcome.

  • @supperstorm MACH 3 AS FAR AS KNOW CAN WORK ONLY WITH A PARALEL PORT , NO ONE ADAPTERS CAN WORK , ONLY PARALEL PORT . ALSO A LAPTOP COMPUTER IS NOT GOOD IDEA AT ALL TO POWER UP YOUR CNC PROJEKT (BECAUSE A LAPTOP , IF YOU HAVE ONE WITH PARALEL PORT CAN NOT PROFORM. ALL NECCESERY COMUNICATION VIA PARALEL PORT ) . TAKE A CHEAP DESKTOP COMPUTER AND IT WILL WORK VERY FINE . I HAVE A LAPTOP WITH PARALEL PORT BUT NOT WORK ANY SATTISFIED .

  • @cicothemajstor You can buy USB controllers these days.

Also, chill out on the caps lock bro.

  • where did you get the program to run this?

  • Does this machine(especially the steppermotors) give back positional errors back to the computer? I mean is there a feedback mechanism?

  • @YezdiRK

No it doesn't, for that one would use servo motors with encoders.

  • I am in the process of videoing my build.....check out my channel for updates....will be posting soon and would welcome any help possible...Thanks

  • i just ended mine, cost me 220$ and it has about 50/1000' precision, 3-axis.

    controllers,switchs,brackets,bearings,wood,all

not including the old pc, the vaccuum and the dremel, its 22" x 19" run. i will post videos soon.

  • Where can i find the plans for this machine?

  • @leventis1991 @leventis1991 go to instructables*com and search for CNC. Pretty similar

  • Very good job

How accurate this machine / repeateability? did you measure it?

  • Unless you are willing to pay for the software, then don't bother asking - cracking licensed is illegal.

There ARE OpenSource solutions out there that I think you should consider.

  • would a machine like this be capable of milling aluminum?

  • It would probably do very light machining on ali but I would say you would want something contructed from steel or aluminium.

  • could u tell me what stepper motors u used pleas e.g type power and tourque raiting please cheers

  • wow how did you do that good job cnc homemade really good !

  • si le conectas una baquium al lado del rauter para que no tengas polbo en tu maquina con una manguera que semueba al rismo del rauter.

  • anyone have ideas on how to do this on top of a small drill- press- type thing, but for metal? it will be moved by small wheels i move manually, but i cant seem to figure out how to build the platform to move it. im thinking of using metal strips with teeth and the wheels i move manually will be hooked up to gears, but need to get the bearings set up. pm me if you have any ideas,

    thanks!

  • Thank you for this video. I was looking at the hardware store pondering how to solve the rail droop for a 48 x 96 working surface cnc router. I see via this video you used square C channels that I saw today also. Very nice!

  • Great looking machine. I'm doing my homework to build my own now.

What type of linear slides/bearings/rails are you using? Also, what type of lead screw and nuts?

I would love to build one as nice as yours.

  • cool thing using the touchscreen

  • muy buena tu maquina cnc. me podrias informar que software usas, donde se puede obtener. gracias.

  • Al parecer es el Mach3

  • You have a very nice design. how are your guide bearings set up? I see shelving rails...? It appears you are using Mach 3, correct? I am new to cnc routing, I am using 5/16-18 leads instead of 1/4-20. what are you using?

  • how do you connect a video game controller to your pc and what wiring dgm. did you use? also what cnc prog. do you use? eman

  • hallo i c ur vedios

can u make 3d cnc router 4 foam & wood

    working area 130 cm x 250 cm x 25 cm

and need to know cost and time

    thanks :)

  • sorry are you have examples of drivers motor cnc alone have l6219 and not have circuito (sorry bad english )

  • Same question:

How much did this cost to make? Also, do you have any plans for this? Thanks!

  • I Had spent around £700 to this point, sorry there are no real plans, You should take a look at 'cnc zone' for loads of ideas.

  • @mphel

The 700 were almost all spended in the steppers i guess?

  • @molinobeer

Approx £100 on steppers, £80 on computer £80 on touch screen, £300 on lead screws, nuts bearings etc and the rest on electronics.

  • mphel,

How much did this cost to make? Also, do you have any plans for this? Thanks!

  • Pshhh....Machine can never do anything better than human hands can :) I pefer my plunge router :D

P.s Very nice, i could never make anything like that, Nice job

  • What would you charge to build one for me?

  • muy buena !!!! me pasas los planos??

  • Nice job - I like the design :)

  • phildapill85, you will find most people in the diy community will give you a hand up since none of us got to do anything without the help of others. It can become a problem if you are going to lie about what you are using it for and making money off someone elses work. Otherwise, the golden rule prevails.

  • i am new to this is it hard to setup mach3 for a cnc? like how do you tell the pc how big your table is? thanks

  • You set the cutting length of yours axis in the config menu. Then you assign ports and pins.

They have pretty good documentation, and when you're stuck, they have great support frm the Yahoo group, or the CNC Zone group. Best support out there

Mack is a controller though it does have "wizards" for various functions, and a beta

cam program called lazycam. But if you want

to do copmplex stuff without writing thousands of lines of code, you have to get a good cam-

    ware.

  • do you use sheetcam?

  • No, I use Mastercam from the community college where I live (I got my certification there)

and save it in my flash drive. There is a post processor for Mach online, and Mastercam will automatically update it to whatever version you use.

  • what keeps the material from sliding while being cut?

  • I IMAGINE DOUBLE STICK CARPET TAPE WOULD HOLD IT DOWN Leebm29

  • very very good cnc homemad

  • How are your Gantry bearings configured for the shelving supports? Are the supports holding up well?

  • what type of stepper motor and driver are u using for this machine?

  • The Steppers in the video are 269 oz/in from Motion Control Products with cheap Stepmaster drivers, I've since upgraded to 425 oz/in motors with msd 542 drivers, both from MCP

  • Lovely machine, we have a Pacer at work which costs £ thousands but if you give it a pull when switched off, has quite a lot of movement which you have iliminated by careful use of two sides being driven. Very well done, and thank you for posting.

  • So what was the approximate total cost after controllers, motors, etc?

  • Around £500

  • Very nice build sir. Where did you source your parts from?

  • Hello, what is the machine structure made of?

  • Mostly MDF and metal Shelving uprights, a few nuts and bolts to hold it all together.

  • touch screen?

  • Yes just a cheapie off ebay, it is housed in a rolling cabinet now, so it looks a little more elegant!

  • Awesome. How hard was it calibrate? I would also be interested in purchasing plans for making a device like this as well.

    Thanks,

  • Calibration is quite easy, thanks to the software, not my ability! cnczone com is the place to find plans on many different machines.

  • wow, that's pretty cewl

  • how much did this cost to make?

  • It was probably about £500 at this point but I've spent another £100ish since.

  • where did you get your controler

  • I'm impressed! What software are you running? Looks similar to Mach2 yet very different. What did you use for controllers and motors? Nice setup with the touch screen! Did you use one drive for your gantry? does it twist on you? It doesn't appear to at all. Very, very nice!

  • Its mach3

  • Hey, could you pass me the schematics to do it?

    electronic and mechanical.. thx!

  • Lazyass. I hate people like that - always expecting others to share their many hours of work, and too lazy to do it themselves.

  • I can do it, as I already did.

And the machine is already working.

I just wanted some base to project mine.

  • This fantastic. Education is how we can produce?

  • wow, that's pretty cewl =|
