I'm actually not using it, no. It turned out to be a very short-term hobby for me. I'll probably end up selling the machine eventually. I still think it would be a good investment for those who make cakes on a regular basis or those who want to make cakes every now and then and also scrapbook since you can use the cricut cake the same as the expression.
As far as marzipan - sorry I don't know. Do a google search perhaps? I am sure someone has tried it.
are you still using it??? and do you think this machine would be able to handle marzipan??? i want to order this item and have it shipped to ASIA through freight forwarder but before that i just want to make sure if it could handle marzipan as we use a lot of marzipan decorations on our cakes......................
Your the first to mention using Wilton's Rolled Fondant. I just received my machine and find it refreshing to watch your video and now I feel really good about it all. I do work with both fondant and gum paste, by hand, but gum paste has never been for eating, mainly making flowers by hand. Wilton changes their fondant formula often and now it is on the softer side, so I hope it works as well as yours. Your cake is beautiful !
hi! i just bought the CC two weeks ago, now while i love how thw wilton sugar sheets cut, i really want to make my own! so i would like to know what your method with the Fondant is! and i agree with your comment on the frezzing thing not working! :) thanks, im in need of your help! thanks- PattyCakes
that's awesome...I just bought a new cricut cake this morning...waiting for it to arrive in the mail. Thanks for your video...the fondant info is important....XO
I have been using the orchard fondant and adding Tylos powder and also tried the cake art fondant. Did you add anything to the Wilton fondant (gum paste?)
Thanks for any help you can give. I have a cake that I want to make which matches little horse invites and noodle boxes.
Also I would love your granche recipe... how did you get it so smooth.
You should post a how to cut video.... in your spare time lol! I would pay you for it as I am sure others would.
I bought a cricut cake machine about a month ago and it's driving me crazy!!! I have invested some time in trying to make the fondant work but when it cuts it dries it all out. I have tried all different fondants and frosting sheets are not available in Australia as yet. I would much prefer to get the fondant right anyway as I am sure the frosting sheets can add a big cost to the cake. When I am cutting the fondant tears. Please help!!!
@kikiscustomcakes If you do cakes for a living and you are used to working with fondant, this would be a great investment. If you are not into working with fondant or only like to do cakes now and then, it's just a matter of whether or not you want to put the money into it. It takes time and patience to get the hang of using it. The thing that made me purchase was the fact that you can change mats/blades and use it for paper as well. So if you wanted a cricut expression anyway - its a good deal.
@ctinaw ....sorry for the late comment i just now saw it. lol
im not old enough to make cakes for a living I just make them as a hobby lol..I was just wondering if you have to keep buying things or once you buy the machine it comes with just about everything to need? thankss :)
@mgblue lol - too true - I agree! But it just so happened that it was the first cake I made so I wanted to try out the cuts that I liked hehe. He didn't mind - he only cared that it was mega-chocolate :)
I have this machine and I used my own fondant. It cuts the design into the mat. Do I have to use their gum past sheets or is it normal that the design cuts into the mat as well?
I bought a Cricut Cake about a month ago, but have been afraid to use it. It came with several packs of Wilton Fondant, and I bought 2 buckets of Cricut's gum paste, but I heard that fondant & gum paste taste horrible. You said you used Chocolate marshmellow fondant for the top. Was that homemade? I have a recipe for a good mashmellow fondant, but it's not chocolate. And OMG! That cake sounds YUMMY! Never heard of a Twix cake. So Wilton fondant tastes ok? Would love that choc. fondant recipe...
@mrssudsy yes, the chocolate marshmallow fondant was homemade. You simply add some cocoa powder to your regular chocolate marshmallow fondant recipe. I've not had much luck cutting marshmallow fondant with the cricut cake, but if you add some sort of gum powder to it - you may have luck. Fondant and gum paste may taste horrible to some people while others really enjoy it - it's really just personal taste. Obviously some will taste better than others. (continued)
@mrssudsy (continued) From what I understand, Wilton has reformulated their fondant recipe - so for those who previously thought it had a chemical taste - will find it to be more pleasing now. It really tastes similar to Satin Ice to me - which is a better quality fondant that many professionals choose to use. Gum paste really isn't intended for eating - it dries very hard. It's just an "edible food safe" moldable/shapeable substance you can create decorations for your cakes out of.

@laineylee87 Thank you! I need to drag the thing out and try to make another sometime soon. I'll probably make a cake for the Fourth of July. Will post again if I do!
thank you so much for the tips, i have try wilton gumpaste, wilton fondant and candy clay. I am having so much trouble i just don't know what to do I am thinking about buying the expression instead. I heard it cuts a lot better
@campanitabonita69 I don't think the expression is going to cut any better than the cricut cake - it's essentially the same machine. The trick is finding the correct materials. I think if you give Wilton a try - roll it thin enough and let it dry for 15-20 minutes before cutting you'll have some results.
You did an excellent job!

@presaf it will cut into the mat no matter what kind you use - that just happens. Eventually you need to purchase a new mat.
