Prince can still cut it live but as a recording artist these days he is utterly insignificant & irrelevant - he hasn't released a great album since Sign of The Times and that was 25 years ago! It is like he lost a heck of a lot of creativity or originality or now just can't be bothered, he has better songs in the vaults than the Shite he is releasing lately. Other than die hard fans, nobody pays any attention to the crap albums he brings out.

This was more of a Funk Rock band, gothic funk band... which is interesting prince was opened minded enough to delve into the slight occult spirit of the Batman project.

Plus, Prince wasn't like conceited as a result then, he knew he was bad but not a stuck up religious nut, know what I mean. He was the shlitz is what I'm saying by just being himself.

I remember when this first aired in 1989. This is the best SNL performance of any artist that I have ever seen, and my favorite live performance of Prince. He killed it!!!

@Italy619 the NPG was the beginning of the end for old princey baby. the batman album was the last of the classic prince sound. graffiti bridge was the turning point, some good (old) stuff, but mostly bad new music. which for shadowed his NPG style music which continued with diamonds & pearls & the lovesymbol album and then artistic oblivion.
two of my fave things! prince and batman! love that cd! grew up on this movie and i know it by heart. michael keaton will always be the best batman. this was my fave prince era. he looked his sexiest and thats my fave guitar of his the blue angel! that soundtrack really was a match made in heaven!
