I don't understand why there's all these comments from british people saying that their tea is superior because they like to add unnecessary things like milk and sugar. I've tried it with those things, and it's very good, but tea is best when enjoyed plain and simple.
You should also market decaf. bigelow vanilla chai and your jasmine teas at Wal-Mart. I simply loveeee Bigelows vanilla chai and would love to have the decaf to drink before bed.
I also like the flavored varieties that you offer the peach and raspberry from the Charleston Planation and I would LOVE to see more people know about this product, especially since it is American grown and a great product. I hope to one day be able to again purchase your products locally but as always the folks at customer service in Charleston are GREAT! Thanks again.
I agree that it is a memorable experience to go to your Charleston Plantation and it was a planned part of my summer vacation trip (along with many others who were visting that day from many areas of the US). Is the first flush going to be available again this year? That is a particular favorite of mine both hot and iced and I love the fact that your teas are available in loose leaf form (my tea style of choice) but also in bags for convenience.
Cindi, yes I have been to the planattion as part of a trip last summer in June to South Carolina. We were in the Myrtle Beach area staying in Garden City with friends and I've known for quite some time about the Charleston Plantation as I used to be able to purchase it here in Ohio at the grocery as long as about 20 years ago when I first discovered it sometime in the 90's.
My favorite Bigelow tea is from your Charleston Plantation in South Carolina!Cindi, one small note, black tea USUALLY isn't fermented, it's oxidized by the air when it interacts with the "juices" that are exposed when the leaves are "crushed". There is a type of fermented tea but that is called Puehr which usually comes from the Yunnan province of China which can be either green (a.k.a. raw) or black (a.k.a. cooked). Please try to stock some with your line.
@kinghazzah I agree that oxidized is a much better terminology than fermented, but it is the term often used in the tea industry (check the Tea Association of the United States website this is how they define Fermentation). So you are technically right on....thank you. Thanks for noticing! Cindi Bigelow
@kinghazzah Now in terms of Puerh, once again you are spot on, it is a fermented product. At this time we do not have one in our line up but I have been looking into it pretty carefully to see if I can find one that I think our consumer base with enjoy. Cindi Bigelow
@kinghazzah And finally I am delighted to see you like our tea from the Charleston Tea Garden. I am not sure if you have been there, but it is such a beautiful place to visit. 127 acres and miles and miles of tea bushes... Nothing quite like it for tea drinkers!
Good pointers here about the fresh aerated water and tea bag draining. I often just fill my kettle, boil it, and later come back and re-boil the same water for another cup. My dad told me a year or two ago draining the tea bag is not recommended for the reasons that all the acids and stuff are being squeezed in to the cup.
P.S. You have a cool looking belt on Cindi. A stylish woman with a passion for tea ...two things all women should have!
i am not a british, nor from country famous for tea drinking. But i am pretty sure that using a tea BAGS wont make you a good tea. Maybe not ally, but bags are full of the low quality second grade leaves, dirt, and there is probably a reason why in the teahouse youll get only leaves, not bags.
I just bought Bigelow tea for the first time last Sunday, i got the perfect peach, and i just had to look for videos on youtube about bigelow teas, i'm addicted to it!, i've had 3 cups today and 4 cups yesterday, it's the only tea i've actually enjoyed to drink, b/c i've always drunk tea for the health benefits, but never really liked the flavor.
i love bigelow tea. ive only tried the green tea. i kinda want to try the english tea time tho. but the bigelow green tea with a little honey mmm. i drink that every morning and after dinner. =)
I totally agree with knut:) The tea is soooo mellow that way. Did anyone notice Cindi didn't drink the tea she made in the video? Maybe it wasn't so perfect:)
I like my tea with the extra tannins, especially the Constant Comment, its a too sweet otherwise. But... I'll try not to wring it. BTW... BRILLIANT marketing.
I don't disagree. I wasn't clear in my rant: the flavor of the chlorine is diminished and I don't have a lingering "still thirsty" feel in my mouth. Both or either reason is good enough for me.
I don't think she is making a big deal out of making a cup of tea. She is simply informing people who have NO IDEA how to make a cup the proper way. If you are a long time tea drinker then this video obviously isn't geared towards you.
You don't need a kettle and a pot! If she had just used a glass kettle on the stovetop, she could have seen the various stages of tea water. Tea doesn't need to be pretentious!
I can't believe Bigelow Tea has a Youtube channel. Bigelow green tea with lemon is my FAVORITE tea in the world. It's pretty much the only kind I will drink
Sad to say this video is complete rubbish... the tea doesn't need so much attention... it's nothing more than a sales pitch. Tea is Tea pretty much... don't buy from this company it's just ripping you off.
cindi bigelow isn't a nice person. i met her at an event once in fairfield and she was one of the most self-centered person i had ever met. they make tea, they didn't invent the wheel for gosh sakes. i prefer lipton's tea anyway.
I love this tea. I have a lot of different kinds of tea up in my cupboard, and don't always have the same stuff. But what I always have is a box or two of Bigelow English Tea Time. It has a unique flavor, that I can't find anywhere else. I've been drinking it since about fifth grade : P. Best tea ever.
Is earl grey made like black tea or green tea?

I'm sorry, but if you don't have a british accent, you shouldn't be telling people how to make tea. Bigelow is just another "american" tea company.

The most important thing in making a perfect cup of tea is using good tea. NOT TEA BAGS!
The stuff in tea bags is what's left on the floor after the bigger tea leaves have been sold.

well that helped i pretty much broke all those steps guess ill make a new cup of earl grey

Wait, but I've been using Brita-filtered water for tea. That's not a good idea anymore, I guess, because I need chlorinated tap water instead? Help?!

Your Brita filtered water is still chlorinated

I'd stick with the Brita, no telling what else is in the water, we just got a notice from our city that there's too much arsenic in ours.

i rather have pg tips, or yorkshire tea than that fancy stuff!
14051996 3 years ago
Yorkshire tea gold.
Water into kettle, kettle on.
Clean mug, teabag in.
As soon as kettle boils, water in.
Wait 10 or 15 seconds.
Teaspoon in, squeeze teabag, out, bin.
A little semi skimmed in.
Stir.
Drink.
Maybe not tea perfection, but fast, supremely good, and no drama.
