This was one of those games I played ENDLESSLY growing up. Boy did that jump mechanic mess me up in more ways than one, and led to many, many extremely frustrating "Game Over" screens. Does anyone else know the "game over" themes to these games stone cold, or is it just me? And RARE developed this one??? That makes the excruciating difficulty (even for 5-yr-old me) make perfect sense now.

You're forgetting this was published by LJN, they probably play tested it but they published it instead of sending it back to rare for them to fix the controls. I remember playing both 2 and 3 on one of those asian 50 in one cartridges and disliking both of them thanks to the frustration and incomprehensible graphics.

It wasn't a console, you just attached your game boy to your SNES and played in colour and some games had more levels and better music when you used the SGB e.g: Donkey Kong 94

Don't think this will be released on 3DS VC. Who will even have the rights to it? Exactly. No Rare...no LJN. Won't happen. Expect games from the big companies only, or ones that exist...or are rebuilt and allow publishing of their games.

@masterstarman The transition to newer systems from computer platforms to the Nintendo and Game Boy consoles were a rushed period of 4 years before they started properly experimenting on 3D silcon graphics. It was practically to get as many opportunities as possible for money before they could start on big projects with 3D silcon graphics. Nintendo loved their progression with this advanced technology, so they bought stakes off them and gave them rights for Donkey Kong Country.

The game doesn't have color, none of them do. I didn't feel like doing the color thing for Amazing 2 & 3 since I was just briefly playing them. There is a feature in Super Gameboy to swap some plattes.

While I never played the game as a kid, I have to admit that the portions where you are walking look incredibly similar to Robocop for the Nes. With the sprites (for num. 1) being as large as they are it is easier to appreciate it.  Wow, 2 and 3 seemed to miss what you and others enjoyed. Great review and can't wait to see Metal Slug.
