  • AMAZING.

    Thanks for posting!

  • I used to be a fan when I was a little girl I always used to love that kind of creepy things and I still do :p

  • WTF?

  • I know. I hate people who think this would be any better if they we're under the influence of drugs.

  • Muito medonha esse clipe quer dizer todos os clipes são medonhos kkk

  • @paulsbreakfast the ears are just the "antennas" to recieve. music is for your brains (just as drugs btw). And you gotta admit, it's damn trippy! :) May everybody talk about the associations this great material gives him. No reason to hate.

  • Before MTV there was a show on late at night on PBS from called LIVE FROM OFF CENTER which showed music videos, which were then pretty arty and cool. This is where I first watched The Residents and heard the line "They found a snail inside," which has stuck in my mind all this time.

  • I'll listen to this before I'll listen to "todays" garbage anyday!!!

  • @paulsbreakfast

Some people find that they can appreciate music more thoroughly or in a different kind of light under the influence; don't judge.

  • I know, I can't fucking stand it.

  • @paulsbreakfast Where do you think the inspiration for said music came from?

  • First Day of the Residents : "What the fuck is this shit? this shit is strange!"

First Week of the Residents : "This is interesting and to a point enjoyable!"

First Month of the Residents : "This is amazing! i'll never be able to listen to something normal ever again!"

First Year of the Residents : "The Residents are the gods of Avant-Garde and no one will ever be as advanced as them!"

  • Just confims my point...

Residents fans are rabid drug fiends. Imean you gotta be a loon or an addict to

even get into this tuneless, crap shoot of a band.

    "Art?" Avante-garde?" "Revolutionary?"

    You fuggers need Rehab. Now.

  • @7Beyonder you dont understand sound music or art very much do you?

  • @lakelful Sure. We can discuss Varese, Cage or Xenakis. We can discuss atonal and dissonance all day.

Still doesnt change the fact that this is avant-poser crap.

  • @7Beyonder, they've been doing this for over 40 years and have covered a wide range of style. Is it really "crap"? You should at least explain why you believe it is.

  • @7Beyonder dude all I do is drugs :) Not really, but there's rhythm/melody in this :) How can you call it tuneless? I suppose you don't like Fantomas, People, Le Scrawl or anything "Avante Garde" or "artsy" huh? You're idea of an artsy band Tool or something? :P ah well, just messin with ya :) I'm on drugs

  • @alicemudgarden123...Intervention. You are losing it and your teeth are falling out.

    Tool? Never heard of em.

If this is your idea of "avant-garde" or "artsy"...then Varese or Stravinsky's Agon Ballet would scare the shit out of you.

  • @paulsbreakfast True. But people need drugs to make poser music to sound better.

  • Was that Andy Dick on guitar?

  • @paulsbreakfast Music is my drug!!! Don't need anything else!!!

Let's get straight bodies and stone our heads with music, stupid guys!!!

  • i take drugs and relate it to my musical endeavors. HOWEVER - i complete agree with your comment. That immediate leap is so pop and cliché. but - if i'm a 'tube commenter - how big can my mind really be?

  • I love the atmosphere these things build. The lighting and settings, along with the music are perfect together.

  • @paulsbreakfast And in the residents case, for your eyes as well.

  • These Residents guys seem a little strange, I think.

  • @DJRozwell nah, the rest of us is just painfully boring.

  • these 1 minute movies absolutley make no sense, just like this world...isnt that simply just beautiful. THE RESIDENTS RULE OBSCURITY.

  • Comment removed

  • Great! Very surrealistic. Reminds me of David Lynch.

  • @paulsbreakfast what a fucking tool

  • @paulsbreakfast Very, very well said.

  • that was amazing! the second one was the best imo

  • this, is where i belong in life

  • weird, but i liked it haha check out my new web series, I worked hard and would appreciate people checking it out, sub if ya like, if you don't then tell me how i can improve

  • Moisture

    Act Of Being Polite

    Perfect Love

    Simple Song

  • @paulsbreakfast If i could smoke, inject, snort, huff etc. music, I would.

  • Takin a walk down Grove St.

  • they can reside in my dents. welcome.

  • this is actually what i think all day. i think my mind is fucked up.

  • @paulsbreakfast There's some of us who enjoy music on a level that surpasses your ears. Drugs often help. You obviously don't know what you're missing.

  • @SALVATRUCH0 We non-drug users know exactly what we're missing. All we have to do is look around us.

  • @paulsbreakfast Music is for your brain!

  • I love them sooo much!

  • Yeah, I hate how people say "HUR HUR HUR THIS WOULD BE SO COOL ON DRUGS!". Ok we get it just watch the video...

  • @Gmancrap But it would....

  • And you are the lanky nigger in dusty rags who skulks into a tin shack to rape a 6 month old baby to cure yourself of "slim disease" by washing your uncircumcized dick in the blood of a bona fide virgin...

  • @Gmancrap wat

  • Idk, some one posted it on a message board and I thought it would be a funny comeback.

  • @Gmancrap well, it made no sense at all. my head actually hurt.

  • @paulsbreakfast I have to disagree with you. Music is a completely different experience when your under the influence of any type of hallucinogen. This music is still enjoyable, but it is a lot more interesting when your high, in my opinion.

  • Yesterday, I listened to Easter Woman and suddenly burst out laughing in public for some reason. I <3 the Residents.

  • I still cannot, cannot, cannot, just CAN'T for the life of me decide whose genius I prefer . . . Negativland's or The Residents', since they both purposely do all of the don'ts required to excell as a Pop Music phenom & then end up with a steady following nonetheless. Get a copy of their classic Lp from '85, "The Big Bubble: Part Four of the Mole Trilogy" . . . pure genius. Thanks, matibbs, for uploading this gem ~ (•8-D

  • was this guy guitarist in captains beefheart band?

  • This isn't 'drug music' I think it's a satire of commercial pop and all the rules governing what makes a song supposedly "commercial" to industry focus groups i,e, what kind of "hooks" are marketable supposedly, and what kind of hooks aren't.

I think it's pretty clever, but then, I appreciate satire in music. ("who let the dogs out" , for example, is not satire.) The Residents make me laugh, because they're not pretentious, they are, in fact satirizing pretentiousness.

    ;)

  • super Lubie:)

  • How could people say this is just "noise"? There is a rhythm, there is a tune. The only thing is that it's not typical of mainstream music. But it's not just noise.

  • noise is music too.

  • @DaNorthernLight yeahm because clearly, if anything, it's CRACK they were on. junior.

  • jaja, haber intenta hacer musica así y vas a ver que no puedes!

  • pretty nice! perfect love :)

  • Exactly. I think if people need drugs in order to enjoy a certain type of music or find a certain show funny then they're obviously a bit thick

  • What would someone be trying to "pose" as by enjoying music while in different psychological states? Who are you to tell anyone if they "truly enjoy music." If someone likes to drink or smoke weed to enjoy a song even deeper, it's no different than liking sad songs when feeling depressed. Just a mood/setting thing.

  • they dont understand, the muse the inspiration.

They think if I dont understand they are on drugs.

    Narrowminded people

  • Music is like drugs for the mind.

  • malditas drogas .....

  • drugs dont make music more enjoyable, music makes drugs more enjoyable.

  • @D0nCab Nice quote, I like that one

  • I find the music incredibly enjoyable both on and off marijuana. But I have to admit, when on it, I tend to hear more subtleties in the music, particularly in the bass.

  • kudos to the truth^

  • You don't need drugs to understand what The Residents are trying to convey through their songs. I've always looked at their music as auditory performance art.

  • If you don't want to use drugs that's fine , but when you listen to music on drugs you take it in a completely different context. Music can't make you Hallucinate or eat an entire tub of peanut butter, but it can bring out emotion and make you feel weird...which drugs aid in.

  • yeah but drugs + music = awesome

  • The Residents achieve a level of weird unparalleled in music and video.

  • thank u for posting this video :D

  • stumbled!

  • THANK YOU

  • anybody know if the man in perfect love is the same actor who plays the dad character in the renaldo & the loaf video to songs for swinging larvae?

  • dude i thought the exact same thing when i watched songs for swinging larvae!

  • Yay for performance art! These guys are sooo weird! It's great! They can say so much in just a one minute song....

  • These videos are way to good, I can't stop watching them.

  • Hearing "Perfect Love" for the first time caused me to instantaneously fall in love with the Residents. Most musicians prattle on for a garish five minutes in a vain attempt to conjure up a fraction of the meaning that the Residents can manage in two or three lines of simple verse.

  • Someone saw a stranger with moisture on her lips,

and it was also found upon her arms and on her hips

no one knew exactly who she was or how she died

but when they opened up her purse they found a snail inside

Strange melody and great reflective lyrics. None of it can possibly make sense because the band are totally into concept over logic or at least they are an art group who despises mainstream commercialism. They are more diverse than any bands as each album is totally different...

  • @LiteracyLabyrinth

    small correction:

someone saw a strange amount of moisture on her lips.

    much love for the residents.

  • How is it possible to be into "Concept over logic?"

  • this is scary when youre baked

    5 stars!

  • Try listening to it on acid! You won't be the same.

  • dude i forgot i even left this comment hahaha. ive never done acid but i want to soo bad. its hard to find in my city

  • @madtv5463

    acid's fuckin nuts.

    'nuff said.

  • in a good way? :D

ive done shrooms and dxm :p and theyre pretty crazy in my opinion :)

  • @madtv5463

yeah man, a very good way.

if you're very familiar with shrooms then you should be prepared for it. dxm is more intense so i haven't done it recreationally.

  • yeah shrooms are my DoC for now!

    dxm fuckssss you up hard

  • they're your main reason for perception?

  • Can you rephrase that?

  • @madtv5463 dude. that's pretty obvious without drugs. lol. i mean, any idiot could figure that out without gettin' high

  • @daxombie im sure its possible to think of that stuff without drugs, but im just saying that i personally was on shrooms when i thought of it all. i have many other deep thoughts just like those ones when im competely sober, but thats just the kind of person i am. however, its a fact that drugs stimulate the third eye.

  • Ya know, my momy had undergone an operation for an ailment which the doctors had beleived to be gallstones,.... but when the doctors had opend her up they found a snail inside her ????....... Ehhhh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh hehhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Momy ?

  • They must be David Lynch fans.

  • lol wut

    5/5

  • simple song is genius.

  • =) =) =)

  • I love these guys!

  • the simple son is pretty scary

  • This guys are crazy!

    So much dada!!!!

  • these guys are disturbing but intriguing

  • my mind has just erupted into a clusterfuck... i no longer care for logic

  • I can't believe you put the tag "progressive" in Captain Beefheart and his magic band

  • the simple song was just creepy

  • oh yea

  • the best band ever

  • I was just exhausted from the act of being polite.

  • Did you not mean to hurt her as you feel asleep last night?

  • If These Guys Did An Album With Sleepytime Gorilla Museum It Would Be Fantastic.

  • the pig scared me quite a bit

  • Fantastic residents tracks from the Commercial Album - 40 tracks all of which go for 1 minute each like a commercial. Every track is great in its own way. Ferociously original approach to music and disturbing at times but never dull.

  • There's something I must tell you.

  • I Dream of Jeanie

  • strange, so 80's

    damn i like this stuff

    me asusta pero me gusta

  • what are you?

    shit?

  • That's something I was looking for, for quite a long time :-).

  • qwertyuiop[]asdfghjkl;'#\zxcvbnm,./ nuff said !

  • Freaky but awesome..XD

  • Freaky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "Moisture" is the most terrifying song & video of all time.

  • I found out about the residents while looking into Macedonia pop culture on a random site I found...and they definitely have a sound of their own, but they're kinda crack-headed. this has got to be the weirdest shit I've ever heard. (aside from autecre)

  • The Residents are clearly influenced by world music.. you know they studied Eskimo culture for a while.

Sir, please check some other progressive music of bands like Magma, Henry Cow, and definitely Captain Beefheart.

    Is Autecre something like Kraftwerk?

  • ...so true. Ha! That cracks me up!

  • What a legendary I band love em

  • This is scary !

  • sensacional efects video 5*

    un saludo

  • The Residents scare me

  • Dont be scared......or be....

  • But they scare you in a good way, don't they?

  • Eat your heart out, Lynch!

  • Does anybody know on which album I can find these songs?

  • The Commercial Album (1980).

These videos are on the Commercial Album DVD.

  • The commercial album

  • the commercial album. :] hehe

  • The Commercial Album

  • The Resindents is a inspiration for bands like Primus and Mr. Bungle

  • certainly. and since those 2 bands are my favourite ever, when I finally stumbled upon the residents' work I was totally blown away. The unseen four (or any number you may prefer, really) RULE

  • Truly ahead of their time.

    <3 thy Residents

  • These will be the videos of the year for me!

  • this people is awesome!!!

  • Forse i Residents non fanno per me...

  • Comment removed

  • i like moisture

  • phantastic

  • W T F

  • Put the Residents in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, dangit!

  • Has anyone ever noticed that the intro/title segment seems to be using a bit of Stockhausen's "Gesang de Junglige"?

  • they brought to music that is essential to all art but hasnt been essential for music:

    EVERYTHING is allowed!

    (except murder, rape... of course)

  • this is propa genius

  • I would've upped this, but that's just disgusting, man.

  • WOW!!

    O.O surreal...

  • MY BRAIN D=

  • If any of you have the time could you listen to my music and give me your opinion thanks.

  • Never heard about this ... What´s the year?
