I agree with that, but as a guy, I found the first few seasons funny. It got less and less funny as they interjected their "wonderful" personalities into the show. When they didn't care about all that, it was damn funny. Their personalities were kind of tacked on to it like a cherry on the cake instead of being half or 2/3 of the cake as it was in later seasons.

I definitely think the show betrayed their comedy as it went on. Once they established themselves with the comedy, they could get rid of that over time and personalise it to become a soap opera. Lip service to personalities at the start of the series became lip service to comedy at the end. It was a chick show at the end, not the start.
