You know its a shame - because the homage to Murder She Wrote is obvious in this one - that Angela LAnsbury was not able to make a guest-star appearance or cameo appearance, maybe as Possie McGlinn (which would have been hilariously ironic), and never really appeared on the show. Obviously she was bound to the competing network - CBS, so this would have been quite impossible. And, she's a star of such magnitude that not just any role would do. Still fun to think about though!
love love love this showwww i have it on DVD collections..... blanche is soo funny dorothy is hilarius. sofia cant get enough my kids are 5 and 6 and they love this show...............
"im from the south ... Flirting is part of My hertiage" ... no one could have ever brought this role such class and Boldness as she did ... I will Miss Rue ....
all 4 characters on the Golden Girls MADE that show. That's why Golden Palace didn't work--removing one element changed everything. Blanche was awesome
@tetragene - i think it also had to do with the duration. by doing golden palace, how many seasons did they think they could really carry on a show that already ran several seasons?
The Jeffersons had a two-part episode where George received passage on a mystery cruise ship for his birthday. He took Weezie and Florence along, and he had to pretend he was a mystery writer since that's who the cruise was for. Their whole point on board was to solve a murder mystery. Before that could happen, one of the passengers/writers died, and they tried to pass it off as a real death, so all the mystery writers tried to figure out who did it. It was really good, and they realized
that the mystery writer's death was the REAL mystery all along, not the first fake murder that had been set up to throw them off. This episode starred David Downing, Edie McClurg (who actually started in an episode of the Golden Girls as Sophia's in-home nurse from Shady Pines), the guy who played the Professor on Gilligan's Island, and others.
It's called "Death Smiles on a Dry Cleaner" and I have it on my DVR. It was always my favorite episode!
Maybe Rose's slowness is something she can't help, like Sophia can't help insulting people ever since that stroke she had ruined the part of her brain that filters what she says.

They took this plot from an episode of "The Jeffersons." They just shortened the storyline.
