The graphics on those loading bars was so impressive, very smooth, no lag or stuttering whatsoever. If only today's PC's were as good at the speccy's loading graphics smoothness!!
Excellent stuff - it is disturbing how easily this brings back vivid memories from 25 years ago - sat there, coke can in hand, gawping at the screen waiting for Daley Thompson to load... Happy Days....
@FantasyMindedMan Ahh ha ha haa!!! Thanks for reminding me. I did a video of several loading sequences. It finishes with a gameplay of Chuckie Egg. I doesn't have any if the beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee csch though but instead has some ultra cheesy dance music I mashed up years ago.
@RDL1984 Would have been good and I like the idea. Just imagine that top 20 games from 1987 for the speccy on a 12" album. I think for it work you'd have had to have the one's and zero's close enough on the groove of the record and a tough enough needle to cope with the sudden changes from zero to one in the now analogue signal, to reproduce digital (binary) computer code. It may have been done as an experiment and nothing heard of it.
Loading later highpitched software for the Spectrum was a nightmare I once tried out three different tape recorders to get Imagine's Hypersports to load and even then it only loaded up sometimes with the volume and tone at the correct level
I hated the fast loading games for the Spectrum.I know it reduced the time for the game to load. But,get the volume wrong and it would either crash or it would stop loading altogether.I've had this happen to me many times, especially with an adventure game called The Final Mission by Incentive.I've lost the number of times that I needed to reload it.
man this is good memories, when I was a kid, I use to have 48 zx sinclair spectrum, the version with the rubber padded keyboard. it use to take forever to load, it was my older brother who use to load this, by the time it loads, we use to get very happy, and my cousins come over to play this. it was so cool back then to have it, because not many people had it in that time. great times
god this takes me back to my old school days in the 80's.. it was kool stuff back then.. sometimes u would have to reload 3-4 times as it wouldnt bloody start lol..
i remmeber having a speccy 128k streethawk & knightrider edition pack for xmas which was a great day until i found non of the games would load :( turned out there was something wrong with the head so ended up spending the night soldering a phono wire into it and using a normal tape deck , those were the crazy days :D
This was actually one of the first games I had for the ZX48 my father bought at the time. I also remember very fondly early titles such as "Hungry Horace", "High Noon", "Match Point" and of course "Manic Miner". Neither me nor my father got very far in this game though - but seeing the monkey calmly hitting the man while he was hacking trees for his life will forever remain one of the fondest memories I have from the 80's. Thanks for the video mate!
You were lucky! When I was your age, all I had was a ZX81 and a steam powered portable television. Ha! Actually I chose the ZX Spectrum because I had the old ZX81 which I sold to a friend. Those were the days. This generation with its broadband computers don't even know they lived.
Wow these were ace.I had the +3 and my mate had the +2 and in the tape slot we used to play music tapes while playing the game. The music would play on the screen lol
I had games like cobra command, the great escape, green beret how I wish my gran never through mine in the rubbish by mistake!!
The thing was brought back to life, by this time though (94/95) getting the (good) tapes was very hard!!! If only they told you on the box that that screw might fuck up at any point, could still be playing Cisco Heat in style :)

It makes you that bit more willing to play it longer than 5 seconds! ;)
Haha yeah I remember the azimuth screw only too well. I thought my spectrum was dead a long time ago so I sold all my games (which was lots) at a carboot sale very cheaply (like 50p for 5 tapes) it then became a £200 calculator....a few years after selling the tapes someone at my school mentioned about the screw when I described the symptons my machine had.
OMG this so takes me back to the old days loading a tape waiting for it to load & then there was no guarantee it would load awesome stuff anyone remember Punchy or Oh Mummy for the old zx lol.
