The idea is that humans can't physically pronounce the name correctly, kooloo,kutulu, and Cthulhu are all different attempts at pronouncing it but none are entirely correct. Basically, chuh-thu-loo is just as inaccurate as koo-loo.

It's actually /not/ pronounced "Ka Thoo loo", but nor is it pronounced "Koo loo". In the official reading way back when lovvecraft was still alive, it was pronounced "Ka tuu loo".

But, yes, it is supposed to be unpronounceable by humans.
